  1. Max Payne - You know, it wasn't half bad. I expected much worse. It had fairly solid actors across the board, and it was a nice little crime noir story throughout.
  2. You aren't attached to any of the Jagged Alliance Mercs? Razor and Haywire always make me smile.
  3. I'm playing Baldur's Gate 2 right now, and Imoen is really quite awesome. It's odd, because they didn't develop her all that much in the original, but she was with me through the whole thing, and when she gets take away it really feels like I've lost my closest friend in the game. She's also clearly broken as we move through the dungeon. Going back further, Gurgi in the Black Cauldron was another close friend, and his sacrifice at the end was stunning for me. Snake was my favorite merc in Jagged Alliance, and when I read the bio in JA2 that said he was killed, I was really bummed.
  4. Willy Beamish's frog, I really wanted that guy to win the frog jumping race. And when Gurgi threw himself into the Black Cauldron, I almost cried.
  5. He isn't saying it is ok, he's saying there is a big difference between ignorant intolerance and nazism.

I guess there was an H1N1 breakout at the Penny Arcade convention. That's scary, these gamer types probably don't have very good immune systems.
  7. It works, you just change the order in which you do things and you will get different results.
  8. Why would you save at the end of a turn? I usually cheat the system when I go hand to hand or knife, because I think it's a bit messed up to sneak behind a guy, knife him three times, and not actually kill him. So I'll save beforehand, and if I can't get a kill, I'll just use my guns. I beat Baldur's Gate. Took me way too long to finish the final battle, it wasn't really fun after awhile. I was at level 6 and I was just getting my butt handed too me way too often. Probably needed another level or two, I suppose.
  9. I always thought a cyberpunk game built like JA2 would be perfect. I think you could do Shadowrun quite well.
  10. It is amazing how well JA2 has aged, particularly with 1.13 increasing the resolution.

Will it make you feel better if I tell you there won't be any new information until April of 2010, and the game won't be released until January of 2011? Good, we will see you in about 9 months then. Don't let the door hit you on the way out.
  12. I'm pretty shocked they cut him. His numbers have been consistently solid over the last few years. He probably would have brought a bit of stability to a team that has been just terrible for a long time now. I'm guessing someone will pick him up. I might be biased since I had a few drinks with the guy during Spring Break way back in the day, although I thought he was a bit of a douche back then.
  13. We have coyote issues as well, that yipping can be pretty creepy. Taking a single shot might scare them off for good though, you probably don't even have to hit one. Are your garbage cans enclosed behind a fence or anything?
  14. I love the Drassen counter-attack, because it is basically giving you a situation where you should retreat. But if I had it happen on my first playthrough I likely would have lost my entire team, even on normal difficulty. So I say sacrifice a couple mercs to try and get the rest of your team out of there. Then rest up, hire a few new folks, and go back another day. I think after they take the section most of the reinforcements leave.
  15. No human commoner? Bit surprised by that, I think I'll go dwarf commoner then.
  16. This thread has gone to a weird place. Moving a mouse and aiming a gun actually has no correlation, so the steering wheel comparison doesn't work in the slightest. Most console games are also designed around the fact that the controller is not as accurate as a mouse, and they make adjustments for that. Personally I don't want to use a mouse while I'm sitting on my couch, and I doubt there are man people who do. They are different experiences, really. No need to get in a pissing contest about it.

The Giants let the defending World Champs score only 3 runs in 3 games, but they went 1-2. Crazy. Beer sure makes watching baseball easier.
  18. Agreed. I'm pretty sure Garcia will be starting for the Raiders by week 5. They're not giving up on Russel aready are they? Well, if they go 1-3, it will be a little hard to justify not going with a proven NFL QB like Garcia. And they will go 1-3, it's the Raiders after all.
  19. That was a fantastic read, thanks!

  21. That's why I play on easy. I love easy mode.
  22. You can play games in the 8-10 year old range. Those are pretty low specs. I haven't seen a Pentium 3 chip in a long time. Does XP run well on it?
  23. How old is Junior? I'd recommend a Wii if he is under 12, it's family fun system and there are a lot of great titles for that younger age range. But I'm guessing you are looking for a more beefy system, so... I've owned both the 360 and the PS3. I loved them both. But I would steer you towards the PS3 at this time for a few reasons. 1. Do you own a decent gaming PC? If you do, most 360 titles are also available on the PC. 2. Hardware failures are terribly common for the 360. I went through 3 systems. Everyone here seems to have lost at least one 360 to failure. 3. Blu-Ray player is on the PS3. You are getting a new TV, and it will be nice to have the option to play Blu-Ray discs. It really looks fantastic. 4. PS3 is slightly better hardware, so the lifespan of the system will probably be longer. If you want to go with one console this is a big plus. Heck, the PS2 still has games coming out on it. 5. The PS3 game catalogue is just starting to hit its stride, whereas the 360 doesn't have too many exclusives in the pipeline that aren't on the PC as well. 6. I think they just cut the price, so it is not really much more that than the 360. The weakest link on the PS3 is the multiplayer support/community. It's not terrible, but the 360 is fantastic and has a lot of built in neat stuff like Netflix (which is actually available on the PS3 but requires some software.) So if you want to play online with friends, it really comes down to what your friends have. There isn't a bad decision here though, all three consoles are very solid products. Enjoy!
