While I have trouble swallowing this (I guess, following this, that Gfted1 must be horribly scarred from the experience, for one), I'm going to let it slide, and pose a question instead. Is this an impossibility in the same sense as "a human cannot survive in a vacuum", or just a result of how our children are reared and other cultural influences? During the Classical period, girls were bethrothed just after reaching sexual maturity, generally to older men. They were mature enough for maternity. There were many factors contributing to the collapse of the Roman Empire, but women marrying and becoming mothers while in their teens wasn't one of them. Does this even have any semblance of scientific rigour? There are quite a few factors that go into a 13-year old not being emotionally developed enough to handle a sexual relationship, particularly with a 44-year old man, but I will address the cultural issues in comparing Ancient Rome to our modern day. In the past, that was a woman's sole purpose according to society, get married, rear children, rinse, repeat. Today's women, at least in most developed nations, are expected to get an education and to develop as an individual. When an older person gets into a sexual relationship with a younger person, they are creating a very serious reliance and it is a relationship that can easily be manipulated by the older party. The laws are written to protect young people from being manipulated and giving them a chance to get an education and develop as an individual. There is a pretty clear difference between a sexual relationship for a boy and a girl. It can still be an emotionally scarring experience for a boy, but girls also struggle with the concepts of pregnancy. I've seen a lot of teenage pregnancies during my time as a teacher, and it is always tragic. No matter what route they go, their life is changed permanently and their childhood is over.

The guy should serve his time. I've taught 12-13 year old kids for the last six years, and the very idea makes me sick to my stomach. There are no 13 year old kids that have the maturity to deal with a sexual relationship.
  4. Anyone who has watched all three should really read "If Chins Could Kill: Confessions of a B-Movie Star" by Bruce Campbell. It is brilliant. http://www.amazon.com/If-Chins-Could-Kill-...s/dp/0312242646

If it's about money, I think there are plenty of teams where he can crack the line up. He had a very solid preseason. He could also probably make a decent chunk of change in the minors or in Europe. So yeah, I don't really get it.

Is it really retiring if you never made it past the tryout?
  7. Five Fingers - Kind of an odd terrorist kidnapping movie. I actually liked the storyline, but Ryan Phillipe was really hard to listen to with his Danish accent.
  8. Hmm, I have to admit my daughter did seem to prefer the Nestle formula to the other brands.
  9. Got an itch to play TW: Medieval War 2. I'm playing as the Scots, so far I've taken England and a few mainland towns in Europe. I'm also working on the Holy Land, but it's tough to get my nobles there, takes like 5 years.
  10. I think that's a bad choice, you really need to watch the first one and then the second to get a glimpse into how Sam Raimi and Bruce Campbell grow in their abilities. Then you watch Army of Darkness as the culmination of their growth. It's like a coming of age movie hidden in three films. At least make sure you read Bruce Campbell's first book.
  11. State of Play - Very good political thriller. Excellent cast!
  12. I enjoy action movies for what they are, I don't expect them to be fine art. Shoot Em Up was uncomfortable for me though, I think it was the whole baby aspect.
  13. I think I heard some concerns about the draw distance on the consoles. Not that I would buy it on a console, but I wonder what they did to compensate.
  14. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=D_ORanGnyLQ Best theme ever.
  15. NHL10 - For the first time in my professional video game hockey playing life, I might need to increase the time of the games. Typically, I play 5 minute periods. I can usually get around 30 shots in a game like that, which is about average for a real hockey game. But the new NHL10 is tough, you spend a lot more time battling along the boards, and the defensive coverage is fantastic, plus the AI strips the puck from you much more frequently. It's amazing, much more like a real hockey game. So I think I need to up the time of the games, because I'm getting less than 20 shots on net on average, as is my opponents.

Too bad the Giants didn't take advantage. They are really struggling at the worst possible time.

    That's awesome.

I can run on a treadmill (I prefer the stationary bike) at the gym because there are usually enough cute girls to keep me occupied.

I love how teams have to work the lineup when they don't have a DH, so I support getting rid of it. I love the Wild Card. It's already a pretty small postseason, you have a lot of teams competing and only 8 get in, and then the first round is rather fast with a best of 5. As a hockey fan I find it downright odd.
  20. That was my first impression, it probably wouldn't get approved.

I have no clue what a dorsal raise or a tricep dip is. I guess I'll ask my wife who was a personal trainer.

Pushups - 30 Situps - 65 1.5 Mile - Maybe 18 minutes or so, my pedometer didn't seem to be working right. I guess it is set to my wife's stride. I did 2 miles in 23 minutes, so I estimated. Pretty terrible, but I like where this is going, I really do need to get in better shape and shed about 15-20 pounds.

That picture seems to be at an odd angle.
  24. I find you lack of links disappointing. Is it ? Nope, I guess it was HoMM II, here is a link: This one is good too:
  25. I don't think it is volcanic dust, so that probably isn't a concern.
