  1. I decided to look up Vick's stats. I'm not really sure he's all that good of a QB. I don't see how he is better than McNabb.
  2. So is it safe to say the once weak NL west is one of the best divisions in baseball? Nah, it's still pretty weak, other than the Dodgers the teams all have some pretty serious flaws. The Giants have very little power in the line up. I don't know enough about Colorado to say how good they are.
  3. Playing Baldur's Gate. I forgot how slow the leveling, and how much I enjoyed it. Heading into the Nashkell mines at level 1, yee haw!
  4. I'm glad the Giants salvaged a win off the Dodgers, Lincecum looked good striking out Manny at one point.
  5. I didn't even have internet access back then, you people are all old. Gina, what is your avatar from?
  6. I agree with Gfted on the extinction issue. My wife spent a year in Japan and she said the whale meat is so ridiculously expensive that only the very wealthy buy it. I'm not really sure how I feel about it, I see both sides having some legitimate concerns.
  7. I'm a little surprised at the negativity over a webcomic. I respect anyone who does one, even if it isn't my cup of tea. It takes work and the odds of finding success doing them are seriously minuscule. That being said, I didn't even notice xkcd had a community. He rarely updates his news page.
  8. I think tl means talk less. Maybe LoF isn't so much a troll as just an immensely unhappy and negative person.
  9. History is filled with men (and maybe a few women) who achieved greatness, and at the same time were absolute monsters.
  10. I ordered Baldur's Gate off Amazon so I look forward to playing that in a couple days. It comes with Tales of the Sword Coast, which I never played, so I'm interested in seeing that.
  11. I agree with the Sanitarium sentiments. Winback - One of the first games to usea cover system, probably one of the best games I played on the N64.
  12. Didn't Medal of Honor come before Call of Duty? Definitely a good list though, people can argue about the order, but other than maybe Crysis (it is an amazing engine) most of those games deserve a place in any top game list.
  13. That's actually a pretty good summary of what happened on these forums after Obsidian announce FO:NV
  14. If Hitler had not gone to war with Russia in the first place, it would have been a very different war. That was a choice he made, and if I remember correctly, quite a few of his advisers said it was too soon to do so.
  15. I just finished Fallout 1, it had been about a decade since I last played it. I'm now playing Fallout 2. They are great games. But they aren't perfect. They have some big flaws, and they even have stuff I really dislike. I can take out a guy's best friend in Fallout, then ask him about it, and he gives me the same line as he did before. There were a lot of situations like that in Fallout, where I did something big that I thought would affect people's reaction, but they didn't change at all. So despite the flaws, they are great, and so was Fallout 3. Yeah, it had flaws, but it also had strengths, and I'm not sure why fans of 1 & 2 need to tear it down.
  16. Um, NMA is not objective. They made up their mind on Fallout 3 before it was ever released.
  17. I find it fairly interesting. The original FF Online (stupid numbering systems) was fantastic. It had some things I didn't like, but the look and feel of the game were top notch. It's not a game I will buy at release, but I'll probably give it a whirl some day when I'm in a dry spell.
  18. They died. I sense a great disturbance in the force, like dozens of crazed fans all screaming out at once.
  19. Damn, I just don't get why we can't get another game like Xcom?
  20. And MMO's sell very well on the PC :D
  21. Yeah, I guess I wouldn't really call the RPG genre weak. It has been a pretty good couple years and it seems to be getting better. There is a focus on making console friendly games, which I know bothers quite a few people, but as long as they are good I don't care what system they are on. How come no one argues that MMO's are killing the RTS genre? Warcraft wasn't ever an RPG.
  22. Its success is just another nail in the coffin of single player RPG games. Not that they will cease to exist, but we could have done without Biowares SW MMO and played KOTOR 3 or something of that sort. What is it then? From the GW website: "Rather than labeling Guild Wars an MMORPG, we prefer to call it a CORPG (Competitive Online Role-Playing Game). Guild Wars was designed from the ground up to create the best possible competitive role-playing experience. Success in Guild Wars is always the result of player skill, not time spent playing or the size of one's guild. As characters progress, they acquire a diverse set of skills and items, enabling them to use new strategies in combat. Players can do battle in open arenas or compete in guild-vs-guild warfare or the international tournament. Engaging in combat is always the player's choice, however; there is no player-killing in cooperative areas of the world." There are many differences between standard MMO's and GW, but the one that makes a difference for me is the fact that you will never run across another person while exploring the world. Almost every relationship I've ever developed in an MMO has stemmed from the fact I was fighting in the wilderness, then stumbled across another person doing the same, and we banded together to reach our goal. Sitting in a city yelling for a group doesn't appeal to me at all. As for the SW MMO, the alternative could just as likely be that we wouldn't get KotOR III at all because the PC market is too small. I'm not sure why we feel the need to blame one genre for the demise of another. The genre is weak all on its own.
  23. But there is a volcano in the background! Deathdealer is right though, it is pretty nitpicky. It's a very functional cover, I've seen much worse.
  24. As long as they do that to every MMO I'll be singing them praises. That stupid genre will be the ruin of the PC. How does that work? It's one of the few genre's that is more successful on the PC than on consoles. And Guild Wars is not an MMO.
