  1. How many people can this game support at one time on a server? I'd call it more of a persistent world than an MMO, unless they have some super server farm available to them.
  2. This is great, I look forward to following their progress.
  3. I keep dying from radiation poisoning in Fallout 1. I'm not sure whether to reload earlier and go find some radx pills, or just give up and move onto Fallout 2.
  4. US Presidents also don't wield as much power as the international community tends to assume they have. Even with Obama having a majority in congress, he is dealing with quite a few restriction. And he really only has about 3 years to make progress, then he has to spend a year campaigning to win a second term. Then if he wins, he only has four more years to do stuff, and he has to try and keep his party in power or risk having a lot of his moves reversed. Basically the best part of the US government is the ability to control damage from any one individual who gains power.
  5. I went on two factory tours today, the Jelly Belly factory and an Anheuser Busch Brewery. The Jelly Belly factory was insane, kind of like being at an amusement park. It was a pretty average tour, groups of 30 led around a walkway overlooking the factory floor, and I was surprised that the candy prices weren't really discounted at all. The Brewery was a ton of fun and more personal. They start you off with a taster, you get two beers in about 8 ounce glasses. They are famous for Budweiser, but there were some other interesting brews they had available, and they also handle some Michelob brands there. I tried the Shock Top, a Belgian white, and Budweiser American Ale, which was on tap. Both were very good. At the end of the tour, we were able to choose from a good selection of bottles and make our own six packs. I got the Shock Top, Michelob Honey Wheat, and a couple Michelob ULTRA's which are basically like wine coolers for my wife. Both tours were free, which is cool.

Foster Care in the US is notoriously bad, so I wouldn't even call it medication in a lot of situations.
  7. I worry that any X-Wing/Tie-Fighter game would simply be an arcade shooter. I'd like to see it be more of an attempt at a space sim.
  8. Exactly, real brothels are all about sexual exploitation, abuse and often outright slavery. The fact that Bioware make light of the subject just shows how juvenile they are. That is a very good point. Wow. I never though about it that way. I think WoD is getting better at this stuff.
  9. Not to keep you from the library, but the etymology of the word kerchief means to cover the head. It's not the most sensible word, but that's English for you.

Are the two of you tryign to get her in a "better" teaching area? It must be a difficult thing to live with day after day. Feeling like your workplace is chronically unsafe can be pretty distracting. I would rather her teach in a school with less gang problems, but she is happy there. She has taught in more suburban areas and she didn't really connect with the kids. No matter what school you are at, kids are going to have issues, but the kids that go home to million dollar houses were hard to sympathize with. So she teaches in the inner city and works hard to make a difference in the lives of kids who often have all sorts of issues at home. You can't really put a price on that. She teaches in downtown San Jose, which really isn't anywhere near as bad as some inner city areas.

LA teachers do actually get hazard pay, if I remember correctly. I believe you get a stipend in Oakland as well which basically is for teaching in a tough area.
  12. I had the game crash at the end of the intro once, that sucked.

So you think such invasive government action is justified? I don't think it will work. SO it's probably a waste of time and money. Seconded. The more cameras you put up, the more difficult they are to monitor. My wife teaches at a school with CCTV up around campus. It's in a rough part of town, they have a lot of gang problems. I consider them a blessing, my wife has been assaulted twice over the last 4 years and had some pretty nasty stuff written about her in graffiti. Thankfully the assaults were only a shove, but having the camera's around give me some comfort that hopefully it will never escalate past that.
  14. I don't post if I don't have anything to say, which I guess makes me better than the rest of your so-called "community." I guess if being one dimensional makes you superior, then you are the winner.
  15. I've got Far Cry 2, and I keep waiting for a mod that will eliminate or at least curtail the guard post respawns, but I guess it's not gonna happen.
  16. The odds are against us, he's a pretty large guy. I just hope he takes good notes.
  17. I just went through Lord of Flies post history, and every single one of them is argumentative. It's quite a portfolio, probably about 150 pure troll posts. We aren't calling you a troll because you argue. We argue about stuff with each other all the time here. We are calling you a troll because you are not part of the community, you show up for the sole purpose of arguing. But hey, whatever makes you happy, I find it entertaining. (there was one post where he asked for his Trotsky avatar to be made. He didn't argue there, but he did argue within that thread. So that might disqualify him from troll of the year.)
  18. What is your purpose on this forum then? You don't take part in any other discussions, you've only participated in threads about political dogma, and you are very argumentative with pretty much everyone. That seems like the definition of a troll.
  19. Dang, I missed all the religious fervor! Doesn't anyone buy my theory that we will all eventually evolve into beings with a greater awareness of our universe, thus leaving behind our biological shells?
  20. I love it when Krezack drunk posts GD, good luck with the book. It sounds like you've chosen a great topic, I know it can be tough to maintain the discipline, but keep at it! I'm about to head to the beach for a bit.
  21. Pretty sure he is. I actually think he's a complex bot created to go around provoking debate. Just a theory. The guy is hilarious though, some of the most entertaining stuff I've seen since chris the jedi killer.
  22. If it is just one game not working, then it is the game that is the issue. It doesn't necessarily need to be scratched up in order to not work, all sorts of factors can be at fault. You could try to trade it in for a new disc. Did it ever work properly?
  23. For me, Bloodlines was ok until I played a Malkavian. Then it became pure awesomeness.
  24. Oh, okay. Didn't know they still have that, guess it's better than dial up. Don't you have any wireless broadband around there? Nope, I'm out in the boondocks. We can get DSL, but it's really far away from the hub and very unreliable. I switched to satellite because, despite the limitations and being more expensive, it is very stable. I'm going to keep looking around for options though, next I might try Verizon's 3G wireless stuff, but I'm going to give Satellite a year.
  25. You would have saved $2 by buying it from Good Old Games, and they also guarantee that it will work. Plus you would have gotten the soundtrack, artwork, wallpapers and more stuff. Best of all you would have supported the Witcher's publisher CD Projekt. I'm on Satellite internet, which has a monthly cap of 16.6 gigs, so I'm trying not to download anything anymore unless absolutely necessary.
