Fallout
Every PC game is different, and the amount of different PC configurations out there are countless. You might have luck with a lot of games, but eventually you will need to troubleshoot if you really want to keep playing PC games. It's just odd that you would rather give up and blame the game rather than trying to fix the problem. There are thousands of people that managed to play Fallout 3 without it crashing every 30 minutes. I'm not saying the game doesn't have technical issues, it has plenty, but crashing that often is something on your end, not just the game.

Fallout
Sounds more like a hardware issue. Do you get a BSOD? Try disabling "automatic restart upon system failure" in control panel and see what it says. Yeah, that's pretty much your system. With that attitude, you might as well give up on PC gaming in general.

A question on digital distribution.
I fight with Steam a lot. I think it has a good deal to do with my lousy internet connection, but it is still a hassle. So yeah, great deals, but there are some issues you can expect.

What you did today
We don't have our property tax built in to the mortgage payment, but it has dropped every year since we bought in 2004. Started at $4400, went to $3000, $2200, and this year it is $1600. Pretty insane.

Blizzard Patches Diablo II
I'm a little surprised they didn't polish the graphics or something, if they were going to spend time on it. I know you can up the resolution with a patch, but it doesn't look all that great.

Fallout
Compared to Daggerfall FO3 is a tiny little unresponsive blip of a game. Daggerfall is an all-time favorite for me, but I'm not sure I can really agree with that. It was an amazing game for its time, but I don't think it can stand up to the big games of today.

Fallout
Crashing doesn't bother me nearly as much as permanently broken content and game play, as long as the crashes are few and far between.

Fallout
That was in the press release, but depending on development progress I predict the real date will be sometime in Q2-Q4 2011. I'd be surprised if they were really allowed that much time. I'm guessing, much like KotOR II, they are expected to have a quick development cycle so they can capitalize on Fallout 3 still being a recent release.

Yeah, what happened there? First Oakland, now Cleveland?

Movies you have seen recently
I thought T3 was worth it just because they actually went through with the apocalypse. Up until the end, I wasn't sure if they were really going to let it happen.

Swiss ban minarets
That's all I'm interested in. This is why women in the Islamic world wear hajib, by the way. Oddly enough, I almost posted the same comment. Oh man, I'm becoming LoF!

Ask me about Communism.
I've always subscribed to the line that communism is a fantastic idea in theory, but is impossible to realistically implement. Kind of like the society from The Giver.

What you did today
I just booked a spot in Marin for our RV for the week after Christmas. We are going to take the ferry over to SF and visit a few places, the Aquarium of the Bay being one of them.

Fallout
Agreed, the voice acting is horrid, and the radiant conversation (or whatever it was called) was lame. That is less bad writing and more bad design. The problem is they tried to create a dynamic world where NPC's had unscripted conversations with each other. It was an ambitious goal, but it was a failure and they should have cut it out.

Fallout
I agree. Although the DLC for FO3 was quite poor in execution as well ( I thought). Quite different from the core game. Decent, my @ss! Bethesda has got a lot of work to do until they reach decent. Dialogues in FO3 feel like they've been written by a 12 year old kid. I don't really disagree. My only point of contention would be that relative to Oblivion, there has been improvement in the writing in FO3. QUite a large amount of improvement, actually, imo. Is that more a testament to the true awfulness of the writing in Oblivion? Probably. But still, improvement is improvement. I disagree. I read 12-year old kid's writing all the time, and Fallout 3 is much better than theirs. But again, this is all subjective opinions. The writing was functional, it got you from point A to point B. Sure, I would like them to keep improving their writing, I doubt Bethesda is saying to themselves 'our writing is as good as it ever needs to be!' They have already shown a commitment to improving that aspect of their game design. If it isn't improving enough for you, then stop buying their games. I also think the ending would have been fine if they would have let you send your super mutant buddy into the chamber. Just that one change would have salvaged the entire ending for me. It was a dumb decision by the designers. It didn't have anything to do with writing, it was just a bad call. They obviously thought about it, given the mutant had a whole "you need to do this yourself' speech.

What Are You Playing Now?
Played a bit of Doom 3, it really hasn't aged well though.

What you did today
Learned your lesson hopefully. You gotta keep your head down son, otherwise you get nailed by the hammer of society. Not to mention the entire thing was relatively trivial and the outcome predictable. I know. Still, people gotta stand up for what they think was right or the status quo will never change. I understand your concerns here, but you might want to also look at it from the point of the view of the dean and the teacher. Did you expect him to just fire her because of a couple student complaints? She has probably worked hard and put in a lot of years to get into a college level position. It would be pretty messed up if she just lost it all because you didn't like her teaching style. This is one class for you, it will be forgotten by next semester, but this one class is her entire career.

Volournian Ideal DA2 Vaguely (minor DA1 soilers)
The DA book wasn't about a blight at all, in fact the Darkspawn were barely mentioned in it. I'm guessing we will be introduced to a new area like Orlais in a sequel and there will be a lot less darkspawn content.

Movies you have seen recently
Funny People - Interesting comedy, very difference performance from Seth Rogan. I liked it, it was a bit uncomfortable but still funny most of the time. The Proposal - Given my man-crush on Ryan Reynolds, this was a lot of fun to watch. Basic romantic comedy fodder, but that's not really a bad thing.

What you did today
Yesterday while working Saturday School, I saw a kid with a Trapper Keeper. I didn't know they still made those!

What Are You Playing Now?
I loaded up The Movies by Lionhead studios on a whim. About 4 years ago I got it for Christmas and played it for 8 hours straight, and then never touched it again. I don't really know why, it's a charming game.

London-centric mentalism
Can you even get a decent sized bed into that house? It's actually bigger than my condo (which we overpaid $355,000 for) but the space must be an utter hassle to work with.
