  1. That's not quite what I said.
  2. I'm thinking we need to stop worrying about the whole democratic process and elections and just help establish a strong central leadership. I know that runs the risk of just creating a dictatorship, but seriously this whole election stuff is just a mess.
  3. I've learned from Cheech and Chong that pot is bad for you.
  4. I think it is important to keep in mind that the Taliban, and many of the groups causing violence in Afghanistan, are not even Afghani. I'm very proud of the goal in Afghanistan, to create an Afghan-led government, and I'm glad the US is involved in it.
  5. That really wasn't the point.
  6. Those are very small niche comics, it's not like they are huge properties like Batman and Superman. Seriously, the comic book audience for GI Joe and Transformers is miniscule, the toy line is the real appeal because most people are familiar with that.
  7. About $100 million differences when it comes to budget. 300 was $70 mil, Waterworld was $175 mil. 300 also almost doubled the gross of Waterworld. I know you are talking more about quality and taste, I'm just saying Waterworld was a fairly epic flop while 300 was a box office success.
  8. Did you just step out of a time machine from the 50's? There are dozens of scientific studies on nicotine and they all say the same thing, it is insanely addicting. True story. Here is a link: http://www.americanheart.org/presenter.jhtml?identifier=4753
  9. Nicotine is insanely addicting. It also smells horrid, stains everything yellow, and kills people just for being in the vicinity of a smoker. I'd be perfectly happy seeing pot and cigarettes exchange places on the "what is illegal" list.
  10. Nobody roots for the Yankees unless they live there. It would be like rooting for the Empire in Star Wars.
  11. It's getting hard to watch the Niner games. It would almost be easier if they were a bad team and were getting soundly beaten. Instead they are good enough to be competitive, but seem to be missing something at the end of the game to pull off the win.
  12. A conversation started about wretchedly bad films in the Fallout 3 thread, and I thought I'd comment here as it is closed. I agree on Waterworld. It was so bad it actually ruined The Postman's chances of success, which is a film I thought was pretty good. He spent a ton of money on an epic, and it was just super meh. I don't really get the 300 hate though, I thought it was a very fun stylized action movie. The over the top visuals and buckets of blood made it feel like a video game, and I thought it succeeded at what it wanted to be. Transformers 1 = Good. Transformers 2 = Bad. But seriously, like GI Joe, any movie based on a toy line is aiming pretty low in terms of artistic merit, and so I never go in expecting an epic, so I wouldn't throw the wretchedly bad sticker on them.
  13. I replayed Arcanum a few months back and had a blast. I had never finished it originally, but I found myself really into the game and finished it this time around. I used the recent patches and one that let me set a higher resolution. It wasn't buggy, just a couple crashes.
  14. Actually, I have sex quite regularly, since I am quite personable (even "overly kind") in real life. On the internet, however, my tone varies wildly, because I honestly don't care what you think of me. I mean, you don't even know how to use punctuation - the first sentence is a question ("aren't you" implies a question), whereas the second is a statement. Unless you're unsure what you're guessing. I've never understood why the internet is an excuse for folks to depart radically from their personalities. How is it any more appropriate to be insulting and condescending on a forum than in person? If anything, it seems more cowardly. Just be yourself.
  15. Probably because neither team is good enough to win. What happened to the rimshot smilie?
  16. Drugs and alcohol lead to excessively bad decision-making, is what I'm getting at. Now I understand your argument that it is the choice of that adult to make bad decisions, but the problem I see with that is when it affects innocent bystanders who are not choosing drugs or alcohol. Examples are victims of drunk drivers or children of addicts.
  17. Wow, little over dramatic reaction to that picture. Clearly he just had a bad time shaving that morning, and I guess they still haven't developed cameras that can eliminate red eye.
  18. Of course there are a combination of factors that lead a country into a war, but claiming that we created 9/11 is right there with claiming Pearl Harbor and the Kennedy assassination were run by spooks.
  19. As Awsomeness pointed out, it is a different matter when it affects people other than yourself, and the argument can be made for pretty much any substance that they can negatively affect the lives of other people.
  20. ToEE died because it wasn't really a good game. It got bad reviews and had a pretty mediocre reception by the public. DLC would not have done anything to save it. Bioware does not release games in such a state, and that is why they are successful. I'm a big fan of the ToEE combat engine, but lets call a spade a spade.
  21. Yep, ecstasy can be pretty nasty stuff. Anything you can OD on with a handful should be closely regulated. I could go either way on marijuana. I don't even like the nuisance that is tobacco, so I have trouble supporting another type of smoking, but it's pretty difficult to justify why pot is illegal but alcohol is an american foundation.
  22. That was pretty entertaining.
  23. I took my wife through a haunted house a couple nights ago, and the clown was the scariest part for her. He followed us all the way out the door.
  24. Yes, that is a wonderful use of taxpayers money.
  25. Yeah, I was in a car accident some years ago and the seat belt bruised my chest. I had a class that morning and I went into it about 20 minutes before it ended and the professor said, "you're a little late." The class laughed. I responded, "Yes, I was in a car accident, but I didn't want to miss the first day of class." Anyhow, my dad is getting old and I worry about him driving. He's 82 now and he still drives too fast. We're trying to convince him that maybe he should folks drive him places. His mind is still sharp, but you worry about reflexes, like you said. I hope you mom stays in good health, though. Getting in an accident is pretty traumatic, even for younger folks. We had to take my Grandpa's license and keys away a few years back. It was hard, but he had gotten in a fender bender and just drove away from the accident.
