  1. I burn the book.
  2. I'm not sure what generic means in the sense that Slowtrain just posted. Is Fallout 3 generic, and how would the first two be less generic? As for Nightshape, I'd say it really depends on the audience. Many of the Fallout fans were stuck in a timewarp, they weren't just yearning for a fitting sequel, they were yearning for a style of game that has been left behind. I know all about that, I'm still holding out hope that we will see a new Xcom/Jagged Alliance style game someday. But realistically I know that is not marketable in today's world, at least not enough to warrant a AAA budget. But I do think there are fanbases that can make a more positive impact on the direction of a title.
  3. I'm pretty sure it is a $1 million prize. 20 would be a bit excessive.
  4. Indeed, too bad you didn't play it when it counted. Still nice that people recognize the awesomeness. I regret it also. But, Br
  5. Heatley averaged a plus 30 in three seasons with Ottawa, so he typically scores a lot more than he allows when his line is out. Last season was bad at a -11, but that isn't a trend. I'm not saying he is a defensive stalwart, I'm just saying his line will still finish ahead of the curve on most nights. It's not like he's a third line guy, he knows his role is to put the puck in the net. Luckily Thornton is a pretty great defensive player as well, which as a center, is much more critical.
  6. Let the player make that call. You can make that call. Feel free to boot anyone that dies from the party.
  7. I got my property tax bill. In 2007, it was $4400 for the year. In 2008, it dropped to $3000 for the year. This year it is $1700. That's quite a drop, while I'm happy to be paying less, I'm not too happy about my equity.
  8. I wouldn't listen to everything you hear on the radio. http://www.pbs.org/battlefieldvietnam/timeline/index.html
  9. I'm working furiously to get through my Medieval TW game. Scotland currently owns most of Europe and I just finished off Egypt. So far I've conquered England, Egypt, Spain, Denmark, and I'm working on the Turks and the HRE. I still haven't seen the Mongols, I guess they are harassing the Byzantine Empire. Egypt was a pain, got lost in the desert a bit.
  10. The problem is Lee Harvey Oswald killing JFK didn't end the Vietnam war. In fact it might have prolonged it, given that LBJ inherited a situation he wasn't comfortable with and the fact that his staff (which changed little from JFK to LBJ) supported it fully. Since JFK entered us into Vietnam, who knows if he would have been more comfortable pulling the plug on it early? But that's the problem with political assassinations in general, they rarely solve problems and often stir up more trouble.
  11. I'm still not sure how being a miserable guy who felt unappreciated and decided to take it out on the President = great communist.
  12. People making minimum wage don't pay any taxes. Well, they pay social security but they get a tax credit for that. That's true I believe. There is a cutoff point depending on what you make, and if you work 40 hours a week with minimum wage you are probably under it. It was $12,000 when I was young, but I'm sure it has changed. That is one of the reasons that taking the majority of illegal workers and making them citizens is considered more costly. They wouldn't be paying much in taxes and they would be eligible for a lot more programs that cost the government money.
  13. Yesterday it took me an hour and a half to drive about 30 miles to get to work, and there weren't any accidents. It was just heavy heavy traffic. What the heck is going on, I thought everyone was out of work?!?
  14. It could be because of of the dramatic cultural change that his presidency represents. 50 years ago the US was still having trouble desegregating schools, and now there is a black president. I imagine Hillary Clinton or Sarah Palin would have also been in consideration if their sides had won, citing the fact that they are breaking down gender barriers. I did hear a funny bit on the radio today about him having a good shot at the Cy Young award as well after he threw out the opening pitch earlier in the year.
  15. I've decided I enjoy Heatley as a Shark.
  16. Or we could just help make Mexico a less corrupt and more stable government and economy, eliminating the desire of millions of immigrants to leave their homeland to seek out better opportunities. But hey, that might mess up the rampant discrimination and bigotry we've got going here, so never mind.
  17. Ok, legal conflict was a poor choice of words. Although it did get Rorie to post
  18. It's called entryism, newbie. I'll remind you that the great american communist Lee Harvey Oswald was a former marine. He was a terrible communist, the USSR booted him out because he was a big whiner.
  19. Obsidian is clearly involved in a legal conflict right now and it would be unwise for them to comment at all. Sega is the one we are waiting n.
  20. "If I can't express myself, I won't go to school," he told the Atlanta Journal Constitution, "I want to get the message out there that because this is who I am, I can't get an education." This is the part that I take issue. I'm a big fan of personal freedom and I really have an issue with the other students not being more accepting, but this student needs to understand that school is about getting an education, not making personal statements. He is very young and will have plenty of years ahead of himself to express himself when he becomes an adult.
  21. It is fairly surprising how open folks are here with the discrimination. Deporting children, really? There are better solutions to the immigration issues than simply locking the borders and deporting everybody. Heck, it isn't even economically feasible to do so, as you can see if you read a few articles at www.cis.org.
  22. Not familiar with California classroom sizes? So my 6 year old who is in school and is with what 30-40 kids 1 teacher should suffer because maybe in the long term the illegals might be productive members of society? mmm ok As a teacher in California with an average class size of 36, I'm really disappointed to read this post. I would never dream of turning away one of my students, and the idea that your son's education is being harmed by the presence of illegals is fairly repugnant. These are children. We should try to help educate every last one of them, regardless of their parent's history.
  23. I only play about 1 in 10 battles. The game is long enough. Basically I play the tough or even battles.
  24. Hades/Killian's criminal arguments are just silly because the legal system is not black and white. If illegal immigrants were really considered criminals by our justice system, then our prison system would suddenly be packed with them every day. The reason police and border patrol agents don't just round up folks at Home Depot is because it is not an enforceable violation. Deportation is a major undertaking, and so there typically has to be more involved than simply not having a visa. There are quite a few unenforceable laws on the books, just go look up loony laws. I can't wear cowboy boots in certain towns unless I own at least two cows, and I can't whistle for a lost canary before 7 AM in Berkeley, CA. Also, the 10 billion dollar hit attributed to illegal immigrant costs is for the entire US, not just CA. It is estimated that if we made all those folks legal, the cost would go up to about 40 billion. Again, it is all in www.cis.org.
  25. I completely agree with that. Unfortunately the costs of such programs seem to scare most politicians off.
