  1. This is what I'm really getting at. It isn't the DLC that bothers me, it's the release-day stuff. I mean, I JUST paid $60, wait a month or so before you try and hit me up for more money.
  2. Ok, I know we've bandied around the whole DLC issue in the other Dragon Age topics, and I know a third topic might be excessive, but this topic is less about the game and more about the bizarro sales pitch going on here. For those not in the know, when you make camp in Dragon Age, you have a little place to talk to your companions, buy and sell gear, and craft. It works like the ships in KotOR and ME. You will also notice a guy concerned about his family. He offers you a quest. But before you think about accepting, he hits you with a sales pitch. So in order to do this quest, you have to pay for it separately. Now I'm not typically bothered by DLC. In fact I rarely bother with it, and I think it is a creative way to continue the development cycle of a game. But what bothers me is the fact that Dragon Age has been out for less than a week, and they are already trying to peddle content. That means this was done when the game was done, and they withheld it to milk some more bucks out of the player, and then they put it front and center in the game. It isn't in some tucked away corner, it is staring you right in the face, saying "if you don't buy me, you aren't getting the full experience." So I'm a bit perturbed, to say the least. I'm not someone who gets too wound up over video games, but this did push a button for me.
  3. I control the camera by holding the right mouse button down and moving it.
  4. Playing as a dwarf commoner now and I really enjoyed the origin story. Unlike the human noble one, Very good times, I'm focusing on two weapon combat.
  5. Especially if his wife is good in the sack.
  6. Why's that? I'd venture to say he doesn't like the origin story. A little bit of that, and a little bit of just wanting to do a few things differently. I usually start over on RPG's two or three times before I get really into a character.
  7. Apparently rats are just big bags of blood that explode when they get hit. I'm playing as a human noble, and I'm a little upset that
  8. Dragon Age - playing a human noble. So far so good, although I'm thinking about starting a new character.
  9. Geez, it's a video game. You are paying $30-$60 for it, it's not like buying a house. Some times you get good ones, some times you get bad ones. That's life, live with it. Some times I go to a restaurant and get a bad meal, I don't stiff the waiter afterwards, I just don't go to that restaurant again.
  10. I've checked this thread a few times, and somehow I missed LoF's post. I'm not sure if it is senility or self preservation.
  11. That's not quite what I said.
  12. I'm thinking we need to stop worrying about the whole democratic process and elections and just help establish a strong central leadership. I know that runs the risk of just creating a dictatorship, but seriously this whole election stuff is just a mess.
  13. I've learned from Cheech and Chong that pot is bad for you.
  14. I think it is important to keep in mind that the Taliban, and many of the groups causing violence in Afghanistan, are not even Afghani. I'm very proud of the goal in Afghanistan, to create an Afghan-led government, and I'm glad the US is involved in it.
  15. That really wasn't the point.
  16. Those are very small niche comics, it's not like they are huge properties like Batman and Superman. Seriously, the comic book audience for GI Joe and Transformers is miniscule, the toy line is the real appeal because most people are familiar with that.
  17. About $100 million differences when it comes to budget. 300 was $70 mil, Waterworld was $175 mil. 300 also almost doubled the gross of Waterworld. I know you are talking more about quality and taste, I'm just saying Waterworld was a fairly epic flop while 300 was a box office success.
  18. Did you just step out of a time machine from the 50's? There are dozens of scientific studies on nicotine and they all say the same thing, it is insanely addicting. True story. Here is a link: http://www.americanheart.org/presenter.jhtml?identifier=4753
  19. Nicotine is insanely addicting. It also smells horrid, stains everything yellow, and kills people just for being in the vicinity of a smoker. I'd be perfectly happy seeing pot and cigarettes exchange places on the "what is illegal" list.
  20. Nobody roots for the Yankees unless they live there. It would be like rooting for the Empire in Star Wars.
  21. It's getting hard to watch the Niner games. It would almost be easier if they were a bad team and were getting soundly beaten. Instead they are good enough to be competitive, but seem to be missing something at the end of the game to pull off the win.
  22. A conversation started about wretchedly bad films in the Fallout 3 thread, and I thought I'd comment here as it is closed. I agree on Waterworld. It was so bad it actually ruined The Postman's chances of success, which is a film I thought was pretty good. He spent a ton of money on an epic, and it was just super meh. I don't really get the 300 hate though, I thought it was a very fun stylized action movie. The over the top visuals and buckets of blood made it feel like a video game, and I thought it succeeded at what it wanted to be. Transformers 1 = Good. Transformers 2 = Bad. But seriously, like GI Joe, any movie based on a toy line is aiming pretty low in terms of artistic merit, and so I never go in expecting an epic, so I wouldn't throw the wretchedly bad sticker on them.
  23. I replayed Arcanum a few months back and had a blast. I had never finished it originally, but I found myself really into the game and finished it this time around. I used the recent patches and one that let me set a higher resolution. It wasn't buggy, just a couple crashes.
  24. Actually, I have sex quite regularly, since I am quite personable (even "overly kind") in real life. On the internet, however, my tone varies wildly, because I honestly don't care what you think of me. I mean, you don't even know how to use punctuation - the first sentence is a question ("aren't you" implies a question), whereas the second is a statement. Unless you're unsure what you're guessing. I've never understood why the internet is an excuse for folks to depart radically from their personalities. How is it any more appropriate to be insulting and condescending on a forum than in person? If anything, it seems more cowardly. Just be yourself.
  25. Probably because neither team is good enough to win. What happened to the rimshot smilie?
