  1. That's why I think we need to define universal here. My point of view is that if the large majority of people call something a spade, then it is universally accepted as a spade. But I'm open to discussing it further, I haven't thought too deeply my definition.
  2. Potato chips? What does that have to do with Canada? Unless they brought in a bag of Ketchup chips or something. I'm not sure, I was too busy eating to really hear the explanation.
  3. I'm not a huge fan of the Titanic, but is was still pretty amazing to watch. The guy knows how please the eyes.
  4. What exactly do we mean by universal, anyways? If you take a thousand people from around the world and from different cultures, and then tell them the story of Hitler and Mother Theresa, and then ask them who is the good and who is the bad, how do you think they will vote? Now I'm willing to concede that evil is a difficult label to put on someone. Typically there are multiple factors going into making someone commit horrible acts, including mental illness and conditioning.
  5. Today I had students presenting information on different countries. A Canada group brought in beef jerky and potato chips. I gave them an A.
  6. That's a tad much. Mother Theresa - universally good. Hitler - Universally evil.
  7. Let it out man, we are here for you. If you need a shoulder to cry on, just let mkreku wrap his big manly arms around you, there's plenty of room on his broad shoulders.
  8. I wonder the same thing on ME. I finished it on the 360 but no loner have the system.
  9. That's great, secretary's rarely get recognized. My gift cards are trickling in this year from students. Godiva cards seem popular for some reason, what am I going to do with $50 in chocolate?
  10. Maybe Morgoth has just been going through a rough stretch, I know my tone can change when I'm stressed about life and all that. I don't remember him being perpetually negative, to be honest, it seems more recent.
  11. Yes I would. I'm very anti-smoking, but I'm not sure where you are going with that vitriol.
  12. Fixed. It's really odd seeing Jake Gyllanhal (spelling, whatever) all ripped and doing an action movie.
  13. Anything that gets young kids reading is a plus in my book. I think Twilight looks horrible and I wouldn't touch it with a ten-foot pole, but I respect the fact it has people picking up books and is keeping literature a relevant form of entertainment.
  14. People here like a story about magic and wizardry? Shocking!
  15. Didn't Marx predict that communism would eventually make government obsolete, as the working class would control their own destiny? That sounds fairly free market to me, unfortunately it never seems to work out that way.
  16. Nice summary Aristes. I think I did about the same as you did, except I didn't kill Flemeth. More because I'm lazy and avoid fights all the time.
  17. I don't remember throwing it in the RPG genre, I just stated that it had fantastic RPG elements. It is, of course, a sports game at the most basic definition. Where does Blood Bowl fit, anyways?
  18. We are pulling for you Kelverin, take care.
  19. I've felt the Harry Potter movies have gotten better with each one. I think it's because they've moved away from the books somewhat, whereas the first two were nearly identical to what was written.
  20. What does that even mean? I'm not sure. If we are making the argument that God directs our history, then I'm not sure how the collapse of the Roman Empire would fit into that flowing statement. Sure, the church survived, but it took hundreds of years to re-establish itself. The Roman empire was extremely evil. Wonderful blanket statement. So does that mean the Goths, Franks, and Vandals were all sunshine and brought with them good and happy times? Speaking of nuclear exchange, to you think the Japanese feel things were going in the right direction when bombs were dropped on two cities?

  22. Only in the multiplayer mode, so you could say it adopted some MMORPG elements All of which has nothing at all to do with Deus Ex. Ah good point, so it really isn't an RPG then. Oh wait, you are the one who claimed it was. Here is something to make you feel better: I was mocking your previous argument. Nice trap, though. I admit my defeat, you can have all my internets. Excellent! Although your picture kung fu is still better than mine, that little cat wasn't quite what I hoped for.

  24. Actually Modern Warfare has adopted some RPG elements by allowing you to level and gain special abilities. But it still lags behind a game like Dues Ex, which has shooter elements, but relies more heavily on character progression and choice & consequences.
  25. No story? WTF, winning championships, getting the heisman trophy, making it to the hall of fame, making the playoff, getting drafted first pick, turning around a laughable franchise. YOU are the character, and so is the opposition. It does help if you are a sports fanatic, but there is much RPG game developers could learn from sports games. F dragon age. Next you're going to tell me walking down the street is also an awesome roleplaying experience. In Dragon Age I get to take on the role of a medieval warrior and do things I can't do in real life. In Madden I get to take on the role of a football player and do things I can't do in real life. I can walk down the street in real life, your role playing game fails.
