  1. The hardest thing so far is keeping other people alive. I've failed a couple side missions already. But the game is very good. My daughter likes it too, she gets on her rocking horse and swings her cowboy doll whenever I play, and yells yeehaw. She is also a big fan of the train whistle.
  2. This is a bit of a silly statement. The US is more involved in international affairs. The US also heads up a ton of humanitarian aid projects. Comparing the US to NK is fairly ridiculous. Also, exactly what lies about Vietnam are you referring too? The north pretty clearly wanted to take over the south, and that was the main reason the US was involved. And Saddam Hussein dug his own grave on the Iraq war, it's not like he made any attempt to correct all the false reports circulating around. The thing you are missing here is that the US typically has decent intentions, even if the way they carry out those intentions is terribly flawed or horribly misguided. What exactly is the intention here of N. Korea?
  3. I'm a customer. I care. By caring I mean I doubt any customers are happy about the exclusive concept.
  4. I doubt any customers really care for the exclusive concept. For developers, it makes their job easier.
  5. Crackdown is a pretty sweet 360 exclusive. But the PS3 has the greatest sports game ever in MLB The Show. edit: The 360 exclusives also usually are released on the PC, so they aren't quite exclusive, really.
  6. Nature has a way of correcting problems like overpopulation. We are one great plague away from it. That said, we will probably transcend our physical shells eventually and then it will be less important to have a home planet. Didn't you all pay attention to Jodie Foster in Contact?
  7. This is the same reason that China, who had the best ships and navigation in the world at the time, never took part in the Age of Exploration. Well, not the robot thing, but the money issue.
  8. Getting a pilot's license is super expensive, particularly if you want to go commercial. That is why most pilots come out of the military, because the government foots the bill for all their training hours.
  9. The original Fast and the Furious was actually fairly awesome. You know, in a Point Break way.
  10. If you enjoyed the GTA series, it is a pretty sure bet.
  11. What a beautiful game. They really nailed the feel of the great westerns.
  12. Well, at least he did undergo some training beforehand. I heard he also slept at a Holiday Inn Express before every flight.
  13. I remember the thread, it was about history, or at least drifted that way. I will repeat that any teacher that is worth a lick won't be troubled by this, as you have a good amount of control over how you present curriculum after you get tenure.
  14. I'm waiting in line at gamestop for Red Dead Redemption. Very geeky.
  15. I'm pretty sure the super mutant getting blown to the next town is awesomeness. We should recreate the story of the three little pigs using the game engine.
  16. I'm planning on heading to my local Gamestop late tonight for the Midnight release party. Should be fun, haven't done one of those in a few years.
  17. Actually the very school district in question here lost a major civil case a few years back over gay and lesbian student treatment. Some students had lodged complaints about the way they were treated by both classmates and school staff, and they took it to court and won.
  18. That isn't quite right. Schools are in the same category as fire and police departments and hospitals. The government pays the school districts to perform a service. All of those are the government, including hospitals if they're public. There are different levels of government, and the examples you gave are generally at the local level. You are quite wrong on this, down to the condescending child remark. By your line of reasoning, a plumber who fixes a toilet in a government building is now the government.
  19. Eh, I'm pretty comfortable with the way things are, thanks though. Obviously there are a few things I'd like to adjust, but the system as a whole is pretty nice.
  20. That isn't quite right. Schools are in the same category as fire and police departments and hospitals. The government pays the school districts to perform a service. The reason I think it is important to understand the difference is that when a school does very poorly, the government can intervene and take over operations. This is considered about the worst thing that can happen to a school. It was part of the No Child Left Behind act. It has also proven ineffective, as the schools taken over have yet to show any improvement and struggle to attract employees.

Dang, if Deraldin is choosing San Jose, the Sharks might be in big trouble.
  22. Battlefield 2142 is superior to both, really. But I would stick to the Battlefield series if you want the latest game, BC2 is supposed to be very good, you get vehicles and large maps, and that is all I need to be happy, along with a nice sniper rifle. edit: This thread makes me miss playing BF2 with the Obsidian folks. I think I still have alanschu as my most killed in the BF2 stats.

Prediction time: San Jose over Chicago in 5. It will probably be the best series to watch this year. They have a ton of skill guys, and it is hard to imagine either team not going on to win the cup. Of course I'm rooting for my home squad. Montreal over Philly in 6 - I have a hard time believing a backup goalie with a few games is going to beat Halak in a seven game series.
  24. TN, that is awesome! edit: Got me about 15 hits yesterday, and I like the blog, seems to be a pretty good place for information on the webcomic world.
  25. Community was the only concern for me, that is a fantastic comedy. Sons of Tuscon was actually pretty decent, it deserved a bit more time to find an audience. American Dad and The Cleveland Show are terrible and just cling to The Simpsons and Family Guy to survive.
