Cinema and Movie Thread: I like to remember things my own way.
Greatest Beer Run Ever - This is a drama. Sure, the premise sounds silly (albeit very real), but I cried like a little baby. I haven't actually cried that much in awhile. In college, I took a lot of classes on the Vietnam War and read a lot of literature (ie The Quiet American, 4 Hours in My Lai, In Pharaoh's Army.) This movie felt like those books. It was deeply unsettling. I'm not sure why it isn't considered an important piece of filmmaking, but then again I'm not sure why Graham Greene's Quiet American isn't required reading. Anyways, go watch it with a beer in hand. It will give you something to cry into.

Pentiment is definitely proof of the AA model though. It is fantastic but the furthest thing from AAA gaming.

Geez. It makes me nervous when we post 40-something people in this thread.

At first I thought you watched a Neil Breen movie with your wife. That would show serious commitment on her part.

Hah, I'm sure a lot of people fell for that. My daughter has done a few of the Stan Winston courses on SFX makeup.

What You've Done Today - Keep Dreaming...
I think diesel is still a type of gas. I go rounds about trying to get my hydrogen fuel terminology correct. I mean, I guess it is more of a gas than petrol or deisel, since they are liquids. Now I just try to say fuel. 🤣

Yeah, the originals were more gear-centic than ability-centric, so I can understand that. Thankfully I also have Xenonauts for the more traditional experience.

Not being a superhero game is good enough for me. I enjoyed Chimera Squad. I'm not sure what you mean about the DLC though, as those all added quite a bit to the strategic layer of the game.- Cinema and Movie Thread: I like to remember things my own way.
Leo/Scorsese rankings for me: 1. Wolf of Wall Street 2. The Departed 3. Gangs of NY 4. Aviator 5. Shutter Island Gangs of NY has actually grown on me. I watched it in theaters and thought it was too much, but subsequent viewings helped me appreciate it more. I should probably re-watch Shutter Island.- Random video game news... RNG 4 EVA
I don't know how many hoods they will have. The Hood is a pretty obscure character. Plus hoods are more of a DC gimmick.- Cinema and Movie Thread: I like to remember things my own way.
Huh. I haven't even seen #1. I have trouble with any list that doesn't put Goodfellas at the top. I suppose I am partial to the gangster flicks though.- Random video game news... RNG 4 EVA
I was turned off by that, but once they explained that it basically replaces the hit percentage system, it made more sense to me. I'm not a big card battler guy, but that seemed like a reasonable use of cards.- Random video game news... RNG 4 EVA
Yeesh. The combat looks good, but no part of me really needs more super hero conversations. Wake me up for Xcom 3, please.- The All Things Political Topic - Ninety percent of the politicians give the other ten percent a bad reputation

Don't be sad about that!- What are you Playing Now? Whatever happens, at least we're out of that mudhole, Gilded Vale.
I've started playing Fallout New Vegas because I got it for free on GoG and it just seemed like a good idea. It was. I still plan on starting a new character in LotRO when they release the new starter areas. My Captain is level 111 and battling despair in Mordor. edit: I wish I had the willpower to make different decisions in New Vegas. Like, I always side with Good Springs and go to war with the Powder Gangers. I always attack Caesar's Legion almost immediately. I'm no good at the moral gray area stuff.- Cinema and Movie Thread: I like to remember things my own way.

I couldn't help but think about how people reacted to Rings of Power here when watching Obi-Wan. I mean, at least Rings of Power tried to keep some mystery and suspense around the characters. This Star Wars series didn't move the needle at all.- The TV and Streaming Thread: Summer Reruns
Obi-Wan Kenobi - Whelp, that was a waste of time. Ewan McGregor is enjoyable, but he couldn't save this nothingburger. I don't know why I need to use spoilers, since nothing happened, but I will anyways. There was too much time spent on agonizingly slow emotional departures. There was some pilot that got killed on a suicidably dumb mission and everyone was all weepy. I had no idea who the guy was. There was no real buildup of his character, so why would I care? I was critical of the Book of Boba Fett because of the plot, but at least I understood that they were leaning on Western tropes, and it was fun to watch even if it wasn't very smart. Obi-Wan was boring and bad. I was really pushing to get through the finale. Anyways, I haven't decided when I'll give Andor a try. Hopefully it is better than this sad send off for Ewan McGregor.- Cinema and Movie Thread: I like to remember things my own way.
A Clockwork Orange today would have been an 8-part series on Netflix that started out well but went off the rails in season 2. Honestly though, there is plenty of dark and edgy stuff being greenlit today.- The All Things Political Topic - Ninety percent of the politicians give the other ten percent a bad reputation
