Not the one in Ohio. Although North Carolina does have a Duke.

Journalism and Bias in the Gaming Industry
That little Kung Fury game is about 30 seconds. Granted it is super replayable, but it would be hard to imagine spending two hours on it. But it's only $2, so I can't imagine droves of people returning it.

Journalism and Bias in the Gaming Industry
I feel a bit like a broken record, but my kids loved Hotel Transylvania, and they are the target demographic. Actually I think Mike Meyers deserves prison more than Adam Sandler. Although they both have their share of crimes against humanity.

Journalism and Bias in the Gaming Industry
Did he have a stockpile of weapons? Did he draw up plans for an attack? Was there a legitimate motive? That is the type of stuff detectives are supposed to find in order to actually prosecute someone.

It is more of a red flag that the guy needs help. I agree that sending him to prison serves no one. But really it's just another sad indication of how feeble our mental health care industry is.

Yikes, the guy even talked about going on a school shooting spree.

I'm curious which journalists actually said "Don't buy this sick filth!" about Hatred.

What's on the idiot box Part 4 (or something)
Hey, we might get another Sixth Sense some day.

I'll stick with Saint's Row for my over the top violence. It is tremendously more clever than what I've seen of Hatred.

What's on the idiot box Part 4 (or something)
I caught the first two episodes of Wayward Pines. It was good, no one pulls off the unlikeable yet charming like Matt Dillon. I hope it doesn't end lame.

There are zero people that have said that. Unless you count Bruce, who responds with 'that's a good point' to pretty much everybody.

What you've been drinking lately.
My wife and I became members of a very good winery called Jason Stephens, and I've been really enjoying their stock. We are even looking at buying a wine rack, since our little tabletop one can't keep up with our current inventory. My favorites have been the Syrahs, Merlot, and the Cabernet. I still tend to prefer beer, but a glass of wine is pretty good with pastas and cheeses.

Journalism and Bias in the Gaming Industry
In terms of gaming and the military, don't forget that the Army was actively developing a first person shooter for years. They are definitely working in a consulting capacity for games like CoD. But as Malcador stated, I'm not sure how insidious that really is, in fact it is probably more about creating a profitable venture than any ideology.

Journalism and Bias in the Gaming Industry
It's pretty hard to keep track of anything here between Bruce trolling and everyone getting trolled by Bruce. Is it possible to have a reasonable discussion about how something like Feminist Frequency has influenced the gaming industry?

Journalism and Bias in the Gaming Industry
Personally the reason I hate Anita and her ilk is because the media is pushing their agenda as "the only proper agenda". And if one business jackass at EA or Acti or Ubi decides to take what the GameJurnoPro's folks say and force their studios to slightly conform, we done got problems bro. I have no problem with criticizing her, but I just don't see any evidence that her agenda is succeeding (or is even all that focused.) Jack Thompson was bringing lawsuits against these companies, she's putting together youtube videos and tweets. She just doesn't do it for me as public enemy number 1. Publisher's don't care about her agenda, they care about the profits. I listed a bunch of games from 2015 earlier, they are pretty much all violent and geared towards male gamers. It doesn't bother me, that's the business. That is what will sell. That is all the publishers care about.

So you want to censor Sarkeesian because you think she is an evil psychotic sexist racist hateful liar nazi...? Yeah, that sounds reasonable. *golfclap* Thompson was pushing for actual legislation and used the court system to push his agenda. Sarkeesian and McIntosh aren't anywhere his weight class. What have they actually accomplished, other than getting you to froth at the mouth?

Journalism and Bias in the Gaming Industry
Aside from Obsidian I don't see any studios willing to tackle the subject matter CD Projekt does. I typed in Top Ten Games of 2015 into google and I got a list like this: TW3 Arkham Knight Bloodborne Dying Light Battlefield Hardline Metal Gear Sold V Evolve No Man's Sky Halo 5 Mortal Kombat X This list goes on and on like that. Please tell me which one of those studios seems to actually be concerned about video game tropes.

I would have no idea who Sarkeesian is or what she ever said if it wasn't for this thread. I'd argue that Jack Thompson was a much more visible figure than her.

Journalism and Bias in the Gaming Industry
Obviously a few people care, she's managed to make a decent living off of this whole tropes conversation. I'm not sure why this is a big deal to anyone. She has her agenda, she's been vocal about it for awhile now, and yet the industry is still producing games like The Witcher. What is the big deal?

I think you guys are missing who the target audience is for these movies. Alice and Wonderland and Dumbo are going to make money because they are primarily geared towards children. Tron is not quite as kid friendly of an IP. As an aside, my two young children loved the newer Alice. I tried to get them into original animated one instead, but the prefer the Burton version. What can you do? They don't have the same context as us.
