I get that a bit. I told my wife from the beginning that there was no way they could afford Samwise Gamgee/Rudy for more than a season. Although I was a bit surprised Paul Reiser avoided a similar fate. But the first season was a lot less clear about the stakes and who was considered a main character. It has settled into a more comfortable show for me. I just remember turning it off years ago after the 2nd episode because it was upsetting me. I also struggled with The Black Phone recently, but watched it because my wife and daughter wanted to, and I enjoyed it at the end. -
It looks like she confirmed the $15k offer, which blows her credibility out of the water. Ouch.

A boy my son's age disappears in the first episode and then a girl my daughter's age gets killed in the second episode. What genre do you think that is? edit: There are a lot of different types of horror movies. I can watch the slapsticky ones like Evil Dead all day long, but when it involves kids, I get more uncomfortable. -

I've been working my way through Stranger Things with my wife. I tried to watch it when it first came out, but it was too scary. I'm putting on a brave face for my wife though. We just started season 3. -

I get the impression that Keyrock actually is Neil Breen. -

I've noticed a number of the streaming services are glitchy when it comes to commercials. -
So...I finished Lord of the Rings Online. You might ask yourself how I finished an MMORPG. Those games are supposed to have an endgame that just goes on and on. But after over 15 years of play, my Captain of Man has travelled with the fellowship of the ring, and now the ring is destroyed. I hope that isn't a spoiler. I didn't actually do the destroying. Frodo did it. Well, technically Gollum did it. It was confusing. I do know that I rode an eagle to rescue Frodo and Samwise, and now everything is peaceful and I'm supposed to attend Aragorn's wedding. But that seems more like an epilogue thing than a main story thing. Anyways, 15+ years, 110 levels, and probably somewhere in the 1000-hour range of game time, I have finally completed the main storyline of LotrO. It's crazy to think that the game was originally released really only covering the first book/movie, and now it has grown above and beyond the source material by quite a bit.

Tim Curry and Biff are the only video game actors I know. I wonder how much the voice actors for the Elex series make? Back to the Bayonetta lady, I don't think the statement was meant to throw anyone under a bus. She seems to be saying that she created an iconic voice for the character, and anyone coming in to replace her is simply doing an impression of her work. I have no idea how accurate that is since I don't play the games. Would we be upset if James Earl Jones was replaced by a decent impressionist? Also, $15-20k sounds a lot more reasonable for the work, but I'm not sure how believable the company response is. It definitely spices up the drama though.

Yay, someone else here enjoyed RoP. -
Yikes on the UK wages. https://nursinglicensemap.com/resources/nurse-salary/ I won't speak to the differenced between an RN and NP, as I'm not in the field, but it still doesn't seem to be a good comparison to a contract voice actor who has to work for every individual contract. How many contracts do you think the average voice actor gets in a calendar year?
-
If this was the first game, I'd probably agree. Take the job and build on it. But if you are taking the 3rd contract with a company that has profited off your work, and you're still not making enough to cover cost of living ($4k a month is not a liveable wage in LA/NY), then you probably need to rethink your career or demand better pay.

I don't know about being evil, but there is this weird thing where people assume super rich people are experts in everything. Clearly they are experts in some things, hence the success, but that doesn't translate into general expertise. In a lot of ways being incredible wealthy should preclude you from being able to relate to the real world reality that most people face. All of us are probably only experts on maybe 2-3 things. Unfortunately everyone here has used one of those expertise areas on obscure video games.
-
You say that, but there is a point where the money offered for a haul doesn't cover all the expenses involved with operating a rig. My mother-in-law had to close the doors of her trucking company because her small fleet couldn't compete with the bigger fleets that could lowball offers. $4k seems like a lowball offer for an actor.
-
It seems like they should have a decent point system like movies do. I think all of the other departments should also be getting a decent cut as well, so it doesn't have to come at the cost of artists and such. edit: How much does majestic think nurses make? They should be making six figures in most places.

First off, those Bethesda offices are pretty swanky. Secondly, was that voice actress in the first two games? $4k does sound like a slap in the face. Even if it is a day's worth of work, she has contributed to a successful franchise. This isn't a hobby for her.

They brought attention to their cause though. Sure, it was head scratching attention, but their cause is plenty important. Why are we still so reliant on fossil fuels? Do people still think that's a positive thing? My hydrogen car creates H2O and the long term potential is that it might be able to replenish the fuel cells with ease. https://news.cornell.edu/stories/2022/02/new-catalysts-steer-hydrogen-fuel-cells-mainstream But hey, gas guzzlers gonna guzzle.

I thought this was pretty standard TV misdirection stuff. I just watched it. I'm going to add Celibrimbor's forge as one of my favorite sets, too. I'm also happy with all of the acting performances. Galadriel is great. Elrond is a little jarring because Hugo Weaving sets a high bar. The Harfoots were even better in episode 8. -
