  1. This seems like a weird take. Brittney Griner is an athlete that goes to Russia to entertain people with her exceptional skills. She was being held for personal use cannabis oil. She never should have been incarcerated in the first place. It was her celebrity put her in Russia to play basketball, it was her celebrity that led to her sentence, and it was her celebrity that let Russia use her as a bargaining chip. So I'm not sure how it is anything but excellent news that she was exchanged. She still spent 10 months in prison for some weed. Whelan is accused of espionage. It is also probably Russia playing politics. But it is a very different scenario.
  2. https://www.bbc.com/news/world-us-canada-63899465 Brittney Griner is free! This is tremendously good news.
  3. As Shady said, it is a term policy, so we pay relatively little ($40 a month) for a decent payout, but it doesn't accumulate. We also have policies through work that act as both life insurance and retirement, but they do not pay out very much if we die.
  4. My wife and I took out life policies when my daughter was born. It is weird to think we have been paying on those for 15 years now. They only go for another 10 years, but at that point, the kids will be grown.
  5. I'm in. It could be 90 minutes of Eddie glaring at Jonah Hill in a diner and I'd be happy.
  6. I came home today and my daughter was watching Philadelphia. Obviously we've come a long way, but it amazes me that people still try to justify outright discrimination in the name of capitalism and christianity.
  7. Kirstie Allie
  8. I'm amazed they are taking on the case. The lady hasn't even started her 'web design' business yet. Nobody has asked her to design a gay wedding site. It is just speculation.
  9. That looks fantastic. I'm totally down for a new Musketeers movie.
  10. Aw come one, I'm sure Larian has written a few memorable characters in their games. I've played most of them and I remember...uh...give me a second, it will come to me... I think there was a talking skull? Or was that Monkey Island? Or was that Morte?
  11. Ain't nobody got time for Alpha testing at our age. I can barely make time for the finished games.
  12. Edge of Tomorrow ain't a time travel movie. It is Groundhog's Day with guns. Totally different genre.
  13. The fridge didn't bother me at all. Ending it with this guy did. I vastly prefer the religious hoodoo juju to a UFO blasting off. Plus Shia Ladouchebag was not good.
  14. I don't know what the Crystal Skull thing is you guys are talking about. Indy 4 is called Fate of Atlantis.
  15. Yeah, I always enjoy the idea of the classic games much more than the actual gameplay. Some genres held up better than others, too. RPG's tended to be pretty bad. I'd argue that the infinity engine games are the only ones that aged somewhat well, and even they benefited from the EE makeover. I tried to play Might and Magic 7 awhile back and I don't understand how I navigated that thing back in the day.
  16. It can't be any worse... Wait, Kurt Russel was in the 2nd one and it was great, so that that doesn't work here.
  17. The insurance company doesn't pay $400 either. They work out a deal and pay about 10% of that cost. Then they turn around and tell you they saved you $400.
  18. The Iranian team is going through some serious **** that unfortunately has little to do with the pitch.
  19. That's doubtful. Warwick Davis could pick his nose for an hour and it would be more entertaining than Shannara. (Or Wheel of Time, take your pick.)
  20. I enjoyed the first Grimrock, but it is more about puzzles than story or characters. I'd say they are still not even Icewind Dale level when it comes to story. You are pretty much alone. Lords of Xulima was pretty good and had a better quest/story progression. It was a bit cheesy. I own Grimrock 2 and never seem to be in the mood for it, so take that for what you will. edit: oh, I am hooked on New Vegas still. I am in the middle of the Old World Blues DLC. I had played the Sierra Madre (Dead Money?) DLC back in the day, so I skipped that one. But the rest of the DLC is new to me.
  21. As always, I'm thankful for this forum and all the great conversations we have about weird stuff. We are cooking a 13.5 pound bird right now. We were supposed to go to my wife's brother's place, but they had to cancel last minute, so we went shopping yesterday and have thrown together a few dishes for our 5-person household.
  22. Oh man, they just had a big event for him too.
