  1. I always thought Mira Sorvino was a pretty interesting actress, and never understood why she didn't get more work. Now I know! What a crappy situation. Ashley Judd as well. https://www.stuff.co.nz/entertainment/film/99885932/sir-peter-jackson-breaks-silence-on-harvey-weinstein
  2. I remember replaying Monkey Island after I got my first sound card, and it was like I had suddenly entered a new era in gaming.
  3. I do hope the Net Neutrality change doesn't take away all these great platforms for people to whine about stuff. How much of that guy's life did he spend on that video? I gave him about 90 seconds, so hopefully that made it worth it.
  4. MMO's have taken up some pretty massive amounts of my gaming time, and I've also met some good people playing them over the years, so it was hard not to include a couple.
  5. People shouldn't be allowed to vote without ID! WAAAAAAAAAAAAA!
  6. Honestly I'd say dealing with the DMV is a much bigger issue than the actual monetary cost when it comes to ID's. I agree with GD though, on a national level the idea of voter fraud is really just a distraction. We have auditing agencies that check on this stuff.
  7. As I hinted at earlier, I think the campiness stands out more in contrast to Rogue One, which was basically a serious war movie set in a rather silly universe. Some of it worked. Chewbacca and the Island Chickens, for example. The movie was worth watching for the Imperial Guard scene though. I waited a long time to see those guys do stuff.
  8. I took the whole family to see The Last Jedi. It was a fun film. It had some flaws, for sure. I think part of it is that Rogue One was such a different tone, and going back to the more fantasy-centric tone threw me a bit. I think I'll have a better handle on how I feel about it once the 3rd is out and we have a full story arc.
  9. I know it is just a joke, but if you rely on Facebook for weather updates, tou have biggwr problems. Most of the friends I have on facebook live elsewhere, so it is fun to see the winter wonderland pics.
  10. Thankfully I teach Social Science, and that's all about recognizing stereotypes.
  11. While practicing my Japanese English accent, one of my Japanese students did point out that not all Japanese bow every time they say something.
  12. I'm planning on tapping out around 65, so my wife will get a nice couple decades to enjoy life.
  13. My students are doing country presentations this week, and I was talking to them about presenting with the accent of the country. It was decided that most European accents are safe for anyone, but you can really only get away Indian and Japanese if you are white. Chinese and Mexican sounds pretty offensive unless you are from those cultures. It was a fun conversation. My French accent is pretty solid.
  14. I enjoyed Hard West. Bit of an Xcom combat vibe.
  15. Magic Carpet, that brings back some memories. I also don't know how I did not put Wing Commander on my list. My name actually comes from that game. I was 12 and needed a call sign, and I somehow came up with Hurlshot.
  16. I've always said, I enjoyed Fallout 3 tremendously because it was such a long time between releases in the series. Fallout: NV improved upon it, but then Fallout 4 just felt like a big step backwards. They strayed away from what I loved about the world.
  17. Victim seems a strange choice of words.
  18. Of course I do. Sharks need to move some of their great young talent for someone who can score regularly. Instead they are letting the waiver wire take their players away. Patty Marleau is thriving in Toronto and I'm super happy for him. He just passed my other favorite player, Brenden Shanahan, for total games played. Vegas has been a crazy story. I'm going to Vegas to see the Sharks play them at the end of March. I figured I could get a decent price on tickets, but with them winning so much, it cost me a pretty penny. Brent Burns shows up to practice with my son's age group on occasion. Scott Hannan is a regular as well. It's pretty fun watching it, these kids have no idea how good those guys are.
  19. Morgan Spurlock from Super Size Me has taken an unusual tack in this whole misconduct thing. I guess it is something that he came forward with it, but I don't see much to sympathize with.
  20. No, I mean he apparently doesn't know how to ride a horse properly. I can't speak with any expertise, as I don't either, but I don't parade my lack of skill in front of camera crews.
  21. I did read something where a bunch of horse people were questioning his form and riding ability.
  22. DC would be a ghost town if people had to pass mental health tests. Of course, so would Hollywood.
