  1. Yes, let us honor our veterans by giving them low paying yard duty jobs at the huge number of schools we have across the country. *skeptical*
  2. Well, they are very different because Chlamydia will stay with you after you make the choice the one time, whereas you make a choice every time you engage in the addictive behavior. Not quite ha ha funny Raithe.
  3. Finished in 2:07. I felt pretty good. My muscles are a bit sore, as expected, but I think the big surprise was the upset stomach. My wife said something about lactic acid building up. The swim was fast, the bike was a grind, and the run was surprisingly nice. My knee was screaming at me during the bike and I expected it to be an issue, but it felt fine once I started pounding the pavement. Hopefully I can improve on that for the race in a couple months. My pit crew was a bit of a mess. My wife was great, but the kids were less enthused. Logan asked me to play hockey afterward.
  4. Today I am simulating a sprint Triathlon. I'll be jumping in the pool to swim 1200 meters in my new wetsuit, then jumping on the bike for 15 miles, and then a short 5 mile run to finish it off. My target time is as close to 2 hours as possible. Also a good chance to see what kind of pit crew my wife and kids will be. Oh and it is 50 degrees out, so hopefully I don't freeze.
  5. I realize it is a very different reality in the media, but I don't think anyone here has been pushing the whole assault rifle narrative.
  6. Exactly. Oh, cool. Guy who wants fans to be censored wants fans to be censored. Congratulations on your kick ass world view.
  7. Can you re-phrase the question?
  8. Ah, but I did answer the question.
  9. You already did that nearly 4 years ago. You are way past that at this point.
  10. I think this stems from a general misunderstanding of the function, or purpose, of these forums. Obsidian pretty clearly maintains these forums as a place for fans to interact. Even the moderators are fans. There doesn't seemed to be any type of paid community manager. It isn't really used as a platform for the company to interact with the public. The developers occasionally pop on, but in a fairly casual capacity rather than something official. So yeah, just enjoy them. They are free.
  11. Both? It was exactly what you would expect, but also way better than it has any right to be.
  12. I went and saw Book of Mormon with my wife. It was hilarious.
  13. To be fair, the refugee plot was more coherent and plausible than the real plot.
  14. The first person to walk away from this thread without posting will win One Million Dollars!
  15. Let's see, Leferd is the Californian and we know Oby was one of the Russians...who are the other 12?
  16. I registered for a half Ironman in September, so now it's time to get serious.
  17. How would you legislate against 'this weapon looks like it's something you would go shoot people with' though? I wouldn't. I'd deal with the mental health issues that are at the root of this.
  18. You've been working through these recommendations too quickly then. Work in some other hobbies.
  19. I think getting caught up in the specs of these weapons is simply a red herring. While I'm sure the firing rate and everything is a factor in the choice of these mass shooters, I'd say a big reason they are choosing this: Over some hunting rifle is because it looks like something you would go shoot people with.
  20. Gun ownership is more than just a right, it is written into the constitution sounding like an obligation of the citizenry in order to keep the government in check. Both? The US has had massive cuts in mental health facilities and funding over the last few decades. To be fair, some of it was under the guise of good intentions, since we pretty much just locked people with mental health issues away from the general population. But we didn't divert the money spent on sanitariums to better mental health care and research, that is for sure.
  21. To be fair, the overwhelmingly vast majority of schools still do not have anyone shot or stabbed. But yes, I agree we are going wrong somewhere. When we had a serial killer epidemic in this country, you saw changes in the way law enforcement worked, and extensive research done into the mental state of the killers. Now that we have a mass shooting epidemic, it would be best if we responded similarly, with targeted research and resources devoted to mental health. But people keep talking about guns instead.
  22. Arming the teachers is just as dumb of an idea as banning guns.
  23. I remember John Doe was paired with Firefly, and they both got the axe rather unceremoniously.
  24. The people that want to ban guns, or put harsh gun control restrictions in effect, are basically simplifying a very complex issue. It's actually the same line of thinking that gets us a big wall on the border to deal with illegal immigration. These solutions ignore the cultural and economic realities of the United States. It would be nice if we could really get serious research done on both these issues without constant political bickering and see actual targeted reform put into effect. But I suppose would also be unrealistic.
