The Political Thread - Browncoat edition... down with the Alliance!
Hurlshort replied to Gorth's topic in Way Off-Topic
It's pretty easy to eye roll his statements. The reason you don't see many young conservatives is because young people are idealistic by nature. You aren't going to find many young people that don't have simplistically liberal views of the world. People shouldn't have guns, everyone should have a home, health care should be free, etc. Of course, young people also tend to be in favor of censorship if you are going to hurt someone's feelings. Teachers also tend to be a liberal bunch, but honestly we are too busy trying to get kids to write in complete sentences to get far in our indoctrination plan. I mean, I see them in groups of 35 for about 50 minutes a day, it's an uphill battle to brainwash. I've gotta take attendance and figure out how to communicate with the kid that arrived from Korea last week and speaks no English. Meanwhile their parents get way better access for indoctrination. Actually I think youtube influencers have the best access nowadays. -
State of Decay 2 and Sea of Thieves both seem to be pretty decent offerings. Plus Forza is a big game. So that guy is just trollin'.

Good to see Brenden Fraser again.

Uh, I think injurai might be overestimating the phone access for people fleeing poverty and violence.

Ant Man and Wasp had me rolling. Michael Pena is the best sidekick ever.

I had to take my son to a birthday party at a bowling alley, but I also needed to drop my RV off to storage, so I asked the host if I could run out for an hour. I dropped off the RV and started riding the 15 miles back on my bike, when the heavens opened up and drenched me. It was cold, my shoes filled with water, and I could barely see. I got home, dried off as best as I could, and made it back to the party. The point of this story is I'd rather be getting drenched on the bike than to be at a bowling alley for a kid's birthday party.

I'm not sure on 10-20 years, only because people tend to be slow to change and there is still a lot of infrastructure that needs to be built. I mean, realistically cable and satellite TV can't compete with the value or quality of many streaming options today, and yet they still seem to control a large share of the market. But yeah, eventually the tech will change enough to get Mam War some decent broadband. I had a student a report on mesh networking today too. No need for a data center down the road if that tech gains momentum.

Well it sounds like you are in good hands, AZ.
-
Eventually I see it being like TV, where streaming games becomes more accepted over a generation. But it doesn't seem like we are that close yet. Can you imagine what it will take to stream Red Dead Redemption 2 with full horse testicular fidelity? It's never going to fully replace hard copies.

And go in with a sense of humor.

Witcher III has tilesets?
-
Bleh, went a little nuts on the Steam Chinese New Year Sale and bought some tilesets for RPGMaker MV and The Witcher III.

Giants, Warriors and Sharks almost overlapped a couple years ago, but that's the closest the Bay Area has been that I can think of.

Not a surprise that a regular hockey game is more exciting than the Superbowl.

Does Warframe really make much money though? I mean, it seems like it does well enough, but it doesn't seem to be a behemoth.

The Halftime show was somewhat interesting when people not named Adam Levine were in frame. Seriously though, he seemed like he was trying hard, but it was pretty bad. Maybe a 3/10, with 10/10 being a guitar god shredding in the Purple Rain.

Ran 14 miles in the rain this morning, it was great. I even dragged my wife along for the first 5 miles.
-
I don't get it.
-
Oh and that reminded me of this one! I'm definitely the GenXer just watching it all go down.

Hmm, makes me think of a quote I saw a couple days ago...

There are 8,072 wineries in the US, so Jesus would still be proud. -

Afyer years of dominating the mid level beer leagues, I now dominate mid-pack triathlons. Sometimes I teach stuff, but that's just a hobby.
-
I don't know why anyone would want to have access to less stuff. Sure, there might be a lot of bad stuff on Steam, but you can make an informed decision. They aren't forcing you to buy anything. Some people probably enjoy what other think is garbage.

I thought that was the historically accurate part, myself. These aren't criminal masterminds.
