  1. Mostly just pointing out the poor logic in your post.
  2. Really? Then PhDs in physics must be terribly good swordfighters. Compared to an equally trained person with the intelligence of a beanstalk, they probably are. Deflection is not based on intelligence alone.
  3. Six inches taller doesn't mean much, especially if the bigger person has a slimmer build. But that doesn't mean that people don't have varying ability to develop muscles, and somebody on the low end will never catch up to the higher end if both train equally. Same as mental capability, really. Definitely. It's just that training math alone isn't enough for a 15 point difference. Math simply isn't big enough of a part of the test, not to mention that the math involved tends to be fairly simple.
  4. Of course you can't do that. IQ isn't a representation of your math skills. You will, however, become better at math. The brain can(and should) be trained, same as the rest of your body.
  5. I think your issue here is that you expected a different design philosophy, not that there is anything wrong with the attributes. There are no primary/secondary attributes in this system by design, at least not in the way you seem to understand them. Your points 1. and 2. are mostly due to tuning, not any inherent problems with the system. You're not going to notice a 2% difference much. This isn't lost due to the influence of other stats, though, as they have similarly low impact. The math for most of it is pretty easy as well. Might and Dex provide simple multipliers. The only complicated part is the Accuracy table, as the benefit is non-linear and dependent on your target. There's no mechanical problem here. Only game reality not matching your expecations. Whether that needs addressing is a matter of opinion.
  6. A category is a group of, in some way, similar things. That's the only way you ever used the word in this thread.
  7. The OP is essentially "Why is this not the way i want it?!" with the rather flimsy excuse that it somehow offends his "perfectionism". I'd say that isn't exactly "no harm". Well, that explains your skewed world view. Doesn't make your rebuttal any better, though. Humanoid is not a category used in the real world at all. It's a term originating in science-fiction to describe superficially human-like non-human species. It does not mean any of the things you believe it does. You called me ignorant because you are blatantly ignorant of the meaning of your own words. I wonder if you even know what ignorant actually means.
  8. Humanoid means a generally human like bodybuild. There's nothing in that precluding females from being bigger, as long as they are roughly built like humans.(i.e. 2 arms, 2 legs, 1 head, knees bend the same way etc.) Don't call others ignorant while showcasing your own lack of knowledge. For a perfectionist, you don't seem terribly concerned about perfection.
  9. Many species have females taller than males. As a perfectionist, you should be aware of that.
  10. Beta is almost a finished product, this is pre-alpha level of quality. Beta has no clear definition. A game is in beta when the developer decides that it is. Also, all of your complaints are things that are actually fairly easy to change once they are done and are non-essential to testing the mechanics of the game, so integrating them tends to be a low priority task.
  11. I don't think high-end graphics are really necessary. The novelty of that tends to wear off quite quickly. Way to quickly for a long game like RPGs tend to be. I find that games with well done lower end graphics tend to have much better staying power. You can't replace good art with a more powerfull engine.
  12. Might includes strength. It is not strength. Strength is also not the only thing that affects how hard you can hit things with melee weapons in real life. It mostly affects what kind of weapons you can use effectively, actually.
  13. Maybe the enemies are vulnerable to the colour red? 3kg+ are solely two-handers(also known as longswords or greatswords). That aside, yes, they aren't terribly useful against armor. Which is why they usually weren't used against it. Also, Might still isn't strength. It's simply assumed that any fighter is strong enough to wield her weapon in battle effectively.
  14. Might isn't strength. Also, swords aren't that heavy, usually ranging between 1-4kg including two-handers. Well, real swords, not WarCraft and JRPG swords.
  15. Think of it like a game designer, not a strategist. Unlike the latter, a game designer wants you to be able to win the fight, and the stated goal was all builds viable. So if priests are commonplace and make perception vastly better, something needs to be done about them.
  16. So that is why Windows PCs slow down over time... No wonder they get nothing done, wasting all their time on dice games. Still, i prefer the old way of just storing everything local to the game folder(and no, i will not install in the program folder, installer. Get lost.), so i can just move it where ever it displeases me the least.
  17. Try as you might, you're not gonna hurt someone in full plate armor with your toothpick, unless you land a precise perfect hit in the joints/eyes/etc (ie: a critical hit). That's what I'd like to see is all. You're not going to hurt anybody with even remotely serious armor with a toothpick. I don't think that is something that should be handled with DT/DR mechanics, toothpicks should just have a "can't hurt armored peeps" passive.
  18. Not if you play the game normally. You have to go out of your way to a degree to get that result. As for your "this game is to be played in a myriad ways", well, that's why they're adding modding support. A single developer studio could never hope to fill all the various demands and still release the game in an acceptable timeframe.
  19. Don't forget area attacks. There's no good reason why an unconcious character would be immune to dragon mouthstink, even if he isn't the primary target. And an intelligent enemy that percieves the downed target as the greatest threat would likely attempt to finish him off ASAP.
  20. If damage that exceeds stamina is directly applied to health, you'd only need 175 damage to die. I think there are two important questions that need to be answered first. 1) are downed characters really save from harm 2) what happens to "excess" damage(i.e. damage that exceeds current stamina)
  21. Why would anybody make a plan to account for a situation that realistically never occurs? That's just a waste of money and time. You so far have failed to even convince that there is an actual problem, rather than just a theoretical one with no real world application.
  22. I don't think an alignment system translates well to cRPGs. Behaviour is way to nuanced and situation dependent to accurately simulate in a game. Doesn't help that many people have issues with stereotyping even outside of them.
  23. I don't know if it is in the original, but in the EE you are treated to a FMV of his death's aftermath, which also sort of hints at ToB.
