  1. I think you trigger their respawn, because I accidentally reloaded a map and had to play it from the start again and the aliens were different and in different places.
  2. Support are best as medic or laying down suppressive fire.. But since the heavy can do that I make them medics, when they level up they can use one medkit 3 times (and later on it heals more), so that makes them very very useful.
  3. At my second game (classic + ironman) too and it's going a lot better than normal, I think it's because you play a lot smarter.. How are nationalities divided for you guys? I basically only get people from Saudi Arabia , also I'm a little sad that there's Swedes and Norwegians in the game.. but no Danes.
  4. I'm more afraid of those disk than those giant robots - they come out of nowhere and murder rookies like they are made of cardboard boxes or something. Yeah that had me very confused first time it happened, I thought I'd lost 3 sets of armour.. Luckily I had resources to build spares.
  5. Yeah, I was very skeptical at first, but this game is actually very fun .. I've formed a crack squad of the first Heavy "Tectonic", a support Medic "Doc" , a shotgun assault "Boomer" and my 2 super ninja snipers "Killshot" and "Ronin". And a large support cast of Captains, Corporals and Sergeants in various roles..
  6. Jim Breuer on Alcohol..
  7. I'm not a big fan of the Austrian school - although we agree that the fed is currently one of the biggest problems in modern economy. The fundamental problem imo is, that the system assumes the highest level of responsibility from the consumer, which is something we've seen again and again is just not present. And without restrictions and that responsibility the entire system is in a very real danger of succumbing to cartels, misinformation and outright exploitation of the consumer.
  8. Funny, the exact same thing happened to me yesterday. In fact she started shooting at me too, until I put my gun down..
  9. I've always enjoyed bombastic orchestral music - so the Star Wars game's themes (especially KOTOR 2) are a favorite of mine.. Especially the leitmotif (just learned that today) pieces, which are musical themes/elements meant to portray a character, feeling or similar. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7DtVBD6W5_A
  10. 28 and I don't really know what game is my favorite - BG2 maybe, but I really liked KOTOR 2 and Mask of The Betrayer as well.. Tough choice.
  11. Yeah I see your point - I felt that the story was slightly better in Skyrim though, at least some of it. While the story in Fallout was only good imho due to the residual effects of the setting, so to speak. But I like your point about survival, because that was exactly my beef with Fallout 3, I never really felt threatened or in any serious danger. All in all Fallout 3 to me was only good because they managed to make an interesting world - playing in that world was not as fun though.
  12. How would you say they did it wrong in Skyrim opposed to Fallout 3?
  13. That's very accurate - if you go into it with the mentality that you are vastly superior and your culture is the only relevant and that you have nothing to learn from the person you are adressing - you are gonna have a bad time.
  14. Stumbled on this article - Death by Utopia, crazy stuff - it has had my thinking all day.
  15. Citizenship also existed before nationalism - but you're right in the fact that today it is defined and seen as an integral part of nationalism.
  16. Britain, France and Spain were massive colonial empires before nationalism ever rose up - when they conquered the world it wasn't for the glory of their country, that's a label which has been put on by the national romantics of the 1800's. In fact, as you've just proven, we've become so jaded by this view that we think nationalism is some universal force that has always existed and we tend to view dynasties and regions of the past through this prism. But nationalism only played a actual role in the post-napoleon age.. And is was nationalism that created such terms as "the white mans burden" which spurred the imperialism of the Victorian era and thereby spread it through the world. Isn't it interesting that the colonial empires only really started to have major problems keeping the indigenous population in check after 1810? (I know there were problems before of course, but nothing like the scale under the French and English mandate in the middle east for instance or the the 1857 rebellion in India) Here we agree - but is misused because it's so easy to misuse and it can stir such violence and hatred towards any percieved alien influence. Which of course is like crack to a autocratic ruler, as the people focus on percieved external threats rather than the internal ones. Well, enlighten me as to why it's such a good force. I really can't see it.
  17. Hmm, while I want to agree, because as an analogy it's pretty historically fitting - that would mean all of the societies in the world are basically sick. And while that could be argued, it makes for a rather depressing conclusion. What is the cause of the illness?
  18. yeah, capitalism has turned out the be in the top-100 of bad things - although it did a marvelous job to begin with. Unfortunately it did not create the equality and natural balance that it would in theory - in instead created huge multinational firms much akin to the trading companies of the 16-18th centuries. So I'm totally down with restructuring that too.
  19. The problem is nationalism to begin with - it's one of the most irrational and vile things to ever come out of Europe. Multiculturalism was the human condition from when we took our first steps and until the 19th century, then we spread it like wildfire everywhere we went/conquered/colonized and it's been causing serious problems ever since.
  20. Who? You could date that homosexuals doctor I think..
  21. Yeah all dogmatic, narrowminded, agressive, autocratic dip****** generally come from a "one cultur to rule the all" mentality.. You need to diversify dawg!
  22. Yeah, you should come back to us, Sweden doesn't want you anyway - as part of Denmark you would be appriciated, loved and cherised.
  23. While I see your point we can't really have a lot of different versions of every topic. So this is closed and please refer to the topics already created.
