Battle Chess: Game of Kings on Kickstarter, Fund It
Rosbjerg replied to Cutlock's topic in Computer and Console
Well, that was horrible.. -
I think an army/general that is ahead of it's time in ingenuity, strategy and causes widespread changes in warfare afterwards should be considered "great" .. I know it's a somewhat qualitative definition that might allow very subjective interpretations - but that would be my take.

Everyone on that list was defeated eventually, so was Russia .. by that logic no one can be on the list.. Did you really think that argument through?

They say the sound was recorded in the Metro, but who knows.

Napoleon was outgunned and outmatched yet still managed to pull out victory after victory by creative approaches. The Mongol horde functioned like a modern army, able to pull of amazing logistical feats.. all with horses.. The last three don't even need explanation.. While Russia only won because of the sheer weight and number of it's army.. It's also why the American army isn't on that list, yet you didn't complain about that.

To lighten the mood a bit, I really wish this had been the start of my monday instead.

Lost about 3,000$ due to third party abuse of my credit card .. incidentally 2 of my friends have just experienced the same, we are trying to figure out where our information could've been stolen and if there's a connection to our 3 cases. Not so worried though, the banks here are usually pretty lenient in these cases and tend to view it as a theft of their money rather than their customers (and cover the losses).

No, I wish it had a demo, but I'm lurking at their forums and checking out videos.. I'll probably, like I usually do, wait until it's less than 10-15

That's actually very ironic when you think about it, the Viking's raiding days were over, they convert to the religion they've been plaguing for centuries and then they get raided. I guess that goes to show how much of a pushover the Christian nations were.. until they discovered gunpowder..

You mean the visual appearance or the gameplay? Because I don't care so much about the former as I do about the latter.. Also, if I never play it, I'll never know if it was good or bad and so I can't thank you, as I have nothing to base the gratitude on - I will however give you the exclusive right to say "I told you so" if I do buy it and it stinks.
-
Is it good? I've been looking at it and trying to decide whether I should buy it or not.

Not to play the devils advocate, but the comment in that article was interesting. It's downright immoral to withhold pay for service rendered, but if the product really was detrimentally inferior to what was promised, then I have to say the blame rests with the developer as well, who took the job knowing they might not deliver.

Yeah the viking era is interesting, especially how we northerners are today compared to our ancestors. I've never heard of the vikings interest in poetry however. Unless you mean songs and stories?

Much like you I've had affairs with almost every time period and much like you reading "Shogun" and playing the original Shogun (both events collided) really kindled my love for medieval Japan (and I was heartily disappointed by how industrial and commercial it has become) My biggest love is Rome however, just prior to the fall of the republic - the impact of that civilization (right down to the words I'm writing now) is just so profound that it still marvels me.

Delfosse, you need to cool it a bit - you are throwing generalizations left and right at people disagreeing with you, that's not a good approach. Personally I too have a problem with material being withheld simply because it's not profitable to release and in many ways I think the current copyright laws are outdated in a digital society, but simply releasing all material for free would be detrimental to the creative process unless our entire value system was reworked of course, but since that isn't gonna happen anytime soon authors and creators of content need to be paid in order to motivate them to keep on producing.

are they mutually exclusive? However this is the first Call of Duty I've actually been interested in since Modern Warfare.. It's cheesy but I like the low-tech vs high-tech

Good times? You mean long times?

You should do PR for the place, I'm warming up to the site.

I'm still fairly young, but I've noticed how time has really begun speeding up .. I wonder why that is. Perhaps just that a year/month etc, compared to your whole life, becomes an ever decreasing percentage of the total.

I've been interested in this issue for a while .. It's technically legal in the US under the First Sale Doctrine to sell a license if it has been legally obtained (ie used games/films etc) as long as multiple copies are not made and sold. Where it gets problematic however is that you don't know where this cd-key originated, it could be from a pirated/cracked Asian game and if so, Steam is allowed to lock out your entire account. So be careful, it's technically legal, but only if the key is legitimately bought in the first place and that's hard to check on these kind of sites.

So basically nothings changed in the mean time..

Rock beats scissor .. (couldn't resist)

It would be pretty crazy, a part of me hope they don't .. I think they would be spreading themselves too thin if they did.

The Internet has got a lot of growing up to do
Rosbjerg replied to Humodour's topic in Way Off-Topic
History also shows us that society has evolved, often through great turmoil and duress, but evolved none-the-less .. and more often than not when people came together. So it depends on how you read history .. we might very well end up destroying our current civilization, but we humans are tough SOBs and in the end I'm sure well keep selfishly dreaming and striving towards a better tomorrow. -

So is most of the democratic process .. The internet is catalyst for many thing, good and bad - but what is does good outweighs the bad many times over. little video from TED talk is just one example of what good we can achieve with enough people.
