Oculus Rift?
I don't care about being tracked or datamined, everybody is a datapoint in so many seemingly inoccuous activites these days. I do care about adverts in your Oculus, that's going to suck so badly.

Viruses in Mods?
Lots of so called 'software portals' install pups automatically, it can be pretty difficult finding a clean version if practically all the hits you get are to dirty ones.

Oculus Rift?
Aside from sim and exploration gameplay, what's it for ?. It's a new experience, but can developers do anything game changing with it. That actually remains to be seen. They are already reporting users have a hard time giving complex input while they are using the device, there is some kind of brain - hands - controller disconnect that slows you down, and there is still the nausia problem. I'm sure Microsoft intends to make one and make it part of Kinect. That could get dangerous though, karate chopping your way blind throuh the living room. I still want one though.

PC: Crash When Watching Videos
I've had this problem over the years once or twice and I was never able to fix it. I'm kinda curious how to. Not particularly helpful I know.

PC: Crash When Watching Videos
IS bink.dll in the game root dir and in windows/system. Nevermind, if it works for a while and then crashes, that can't be it.

Movies you've seen recently
Why the hell would you watch a college girl detective TV show. Must be awesome indeed.

Thief...what have they done!?
Was gifted a copy of Theif 4. Got to the last chapter, then there was a really long plot sequence, they take place in this sortof dream world and they are mucho boring and I just could not bring myself to finish it. There are moments of good and even great level design, sneaking by completely undetected is rare and therefore very rewarding, but these moments are fleeting. Mostly, all of my negative preconceptions were confirmed. Garret doing the batman one-liners is like fingernails on a blackboard, it's hard not to wince at.

HELP: graphic problems, weird lines and shapes in the game
It could be either hardware or software. Things to check off are; running it with the case open to eliminate heat, rolling back to an older driver version, BIOS update. In order of how much of a nuissance they are to do I would also recommend posting here http://forums.obsidian.net/forum/54-skeeters-junkyard/ where our resident tech heards are more likely to notice it. What card do you have, what temperature does it report. These will be helpful to include. It might be the game, or the game in combination with your setup in particular, does it happen with other games.

Ukraine Redux
Russia’s expansionist actions in Ukraine pose a real threat for Sweden, and one that could be repeated in the Baltic states, said Peter Hultqvist, chairman of the Parliamentary Defense Committee (PDC). Umm. No, not really. There is no historical claim or contested land that Russia could invade to 'protect' local Russians.

Obsidian Project to be announced at GDC 2014
I only hope it's a really nerdy one as opposed to some kind of point and click RTS affair.

- What are you playing now
Nevermind, I downloaded the wrong version.- What are you playing now
It was originally a mod for EU, the beta version is the EW-compatible (and expanded featurewise) version - the description isn't updated for the beta. Were you able to get the mod to work with mechs and supersoldiers. If I start a regular game the new features are there, but no meld. If I start an EW game there are no new features. Wasn't sure if the patch rollback was relevant anymore, I mean you NEED that for the new content don't you ?.- What are you playing now
Doesn't say if it works with Enemy within. The Exalt missions are kinda annoying, but I would'nt want to do without the mechs and supesoldiers. EDIT : actually it says it doesn't in the first sentence of the description.- Odd questions
I generally avoid people with clipboards and a seeking expression. If it's too late try to look crazy, maybe even a hint of dangerous. My respect for the US military just upticked. Reading the other posts, if it comes down to which is more important - day or month - and you think month, then your deadlines are pretty ****ing slack. Month/Day/Year is insane. Why deliberately confuse people like that.- What are you playing now
I wish there was more xcom. I must have played the reboot 4 times now. Only complaint is that it gets both stagnant and too easy in the late stages of the campaign.- Ukraine Redux

Okay but do you honesty think people wouldn't buy a major RPG just because there was mandatory but well written Romance? Are people that opposed to the idea of Romance which would only be a small part of the RPG experience anyway? In a word, yes. In more words, it doesn't matter how well a romance is written, it's impossible to make a character that appeals to everyone. A mandatory romance assumes everyone will react the same way to a given character, which is nothing but pure folly. I have quit games outright after being presented by an unpalatable forced decision or characterisation. With foreknowledge I would not have purchased the game at all, but it's hard to discover the nature of said events without spoiling the game. Foreknowledge that romances are mandatory, on the other hand, will be easy, and consign the game to the do-not-play list. P.S. Oh god, imagine ME2 had a forced Miranda romance. That's the worst example I can think of, of a case where the developers completely misanticipated the player reaction to their headline character. It's important that the choices the devs make for you don't feel like annoying editorial interference. Those are the things that can make me quit on a game on general principle as well. Mandatory romance is a terrible idea.- STEAM!
It doesn't actually have tombs, more like tiny caves with a puzzle. The jumping puzzles are so so. In true Ascreed style it ads new gameplay elements and then promplty forgets about them, survival and hunting for instance. You do that for one map, then it's onto something else. All the staged bossfights are annoying trial and error experiences that are too far removed from normal gameplay. It's stuffed full of QTEs, you will barely be able to walk 5 steps without mashing some button or other. Despite all these shortcommings it is well worth a single playthrough if you can get it on sale. The only thing that attracted me to the tomb raider series was the jumping/climbing puzzles combined with exploration. That aspect is mostly gone, but the combat is much better. So yeah, good for a playthrough. It's not overly long so you don't get tired of it.
