The Funny Things Thread.
I was going for 'everything but the kitchen sink' meaning a lot... of Russians. --------------- http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Poles_in_the_Wehrmacht It was a matter of signing a paper making you a naturalised German citizen, or possibly be forcibly deported to go live with the 'undersirables' In addition to those, penal battalions of Poles were part of the force opposing the D day landings, and of course the Polish paratroopers on the other side at Arnhem.

And Polish 'volunteers' as well of all things. Most of them volunteering not to die of starvation.

Maybe it has something to do with Nazi archeology. They believed they had traced a proto arian to the area around Tibet.

International Women's Day!
matter of fact a kindergarten teacher here with 20 kids in tow has right of way over normal traffic. the same right of way given to political rallys' demonstrations and funeral processions. except it's always in effect.

Same excuse as Putin really. The poor Russians in Karelian Isthmus must be protected = territorial gain. Except the Finns knew they had to show Russia that they wouldn't take it lying down.

International Women's Day!
I mean how jaywalking became illegal to begin with. It's kinda a seperate problem from the saftety of schoolkids. Firstly the road is usually plastered with signs with little kids crossing the road, secondly kids aren't supposed to cross the road outside the crossings, 'jaywalk' if you will, alone.

Well, you just break the law. Jaywalking is pretty common here, occasionally the cops do a crackdown because too many pedestrians get killed by cars but for the most part they ignore it (like everything else, heh). Or because you're black. Supposedly the whole thing is a scam, legislation pushed through by special interest. The whole 'jay walking kills' campaign. Not supported by stats.

International Women's Day!
She's a media personality, which has kinda overshaddowed her 'cause'. It doesn't help that she apparently makes a living milking the controversy. Get a real job already ?

Movies you've seen recently
Quite a lot of references to Naked Lunch. Vintage Cronenberg/David Lynch in places. Making it partly comedy was a clever move. I liked it. Not meant to be fully 'understood' I think. Didn't like the ending much, but how do you wrap up something like that anyway.

KVM switchboxes
Isn't everything HDMI these days. My card has four I think, some ridiculous number, probably for eyefinity. I don't understand what you need a switchbox for when you are running two PC, but I'm probably stupid. Do you have just one monitor ?

General Forum Input around life
Depends. If you feel that there is a way you could communicate that you are worried about her health you should do it, but it would require finesse. You have to be able to judge her reaction ahead of time. If you are really friends, then you can. I suppose that's one of the yardsticks. If you don't have that level of fingerspitzengefühl then don't try.

Oculus Rift?
I don't care about being tracked or datamined, everybody is a datapoint in so many seemingly inoccuous activites these days. I do care about adverts in your Oculus, that's going to suck so badly.

Viruses in Mods?
Lots of so called 'software portals' install pups automatically, it can be pretty difficult finding a clean version if practically all the hits you get are to dirty ones.

Oculus Rift?
Aside from sim and exploration gameplay, what's it for ?. It's a new experience, but can developers do anything game changing with it. That actually remains to be seen. They are already reporting users have a hard time giving complex input while they are using the device, there is some kind of brain - hands - controller disconnect that slows you down, and there is still the nausia problem. I'm sure Microsoft intends to make one and make it part of Kinect. That could get dangerous though, karate chopping your way blind throuh the living room. I still want one though.

PC: Crash When Watching Videos
I've had this problem over the years once or twice and I was never able to fix it. I'm kinda curious how to. Not particularly helpful I know.
