Level cap and pacing
Messier-31 replied to Shadowmant's topic in Pillars of Eternity: Stories (Spoiler Warning!)
It's entirely a matter of how much you advance at each level. Yes, if you're used to a game like WoW, 12 is pretty low. But this isn't WoW. The early gold box game Pool of Radiance had a level cap of 8. Baldur's Gate had a level cap of 7; then 9 with the Sword Coast expansion. 12 seems pretty decent by comparison, plus we'll be getting the expansion later on. The highest level of any character is 12, but on a normal non-completionist playthrough, the characters will not reach 12th level. What is Pillars of Eternity?

The plot thickens! Based upon Update #49 we know that dynamism in Project Eternity includes trees and grass that sway, water that can be raised or lowered, and a day/night cycle as well as dynamic lighting of scenes in real-time. Josh Sawyer said back then: "In a 2D game, this required our programmers and artists to come up with some creative solutions. What they came up with surprised us initially and it continues to amaze us. While we are still working on refining some of the dynamic elements, we're very happy with the progress we've been able to make and hope you feel the same way."

You are forgetting that IE games were made approximately 15 years ago, or so. DAMN, TIME FLIES The value of 4 mil $ then was higher than the value of present time 4 mil $ now, due to inflation. Nevertheless I am sure that Obsidian will pull it off. They have the experience, the staff, and will to do it... and if they don't, no-one else will. Ricka-racka, firecracker, sis-boom-bah! What is Pillars of Eternity?
Messier-31 replied to Qistina's topic in Pillars of Eternity: General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)
The game takes place in a brand new fantasy world as-yet-unnamed world, roughly based on 16th century medieval technology levels, where magic and power is determined by the quality of a person's soul. The story takes place in a small nation in the world's southern hemisphere called the Dyrwood (DEER-wood). The Dyrwood is a heavily forested, coastal region where colonial powers from across the ocean have settled and formed an uneasy relationship with the local residents, tribes of orlans and elves who are protective of the ancient ruins of EÃr Glanfath on the forest's interior. EÃr Glanfath was an ancient melting pot of races that built elaborate, often massive, structures out of a living shell-like substance called adra. Though the fate of the ancient Glanfathans is unknown, their dangerous and complex ruins show evidence they possessed extensive knowledge of how souls work. For this reason, all of the surrounding colonial powers aggressively fight for the chance to explore and plunder Glanfathan structures, often bringing the local tribes into conflict with their relatively new neighbors and the neighbors into conflict with each other. The central character in the story is a newcomer to the Dyrwood, caught up in a bizarre supernatural phenomenon. This event puts them in a difficult position, where they must explore the new world to solve a series of problems that have been thrust upon tchem. Source: http://pillarsofeternity.gamepedia.com/Pillars_of_Eternity The player witnesses an extraordinary and horrific supernatural event that thrusts them into a unique and difficult circumstance. Burdened with the consequences of this event, the player has to investigate what has happened in order to free themselves from the restless forces that follow and haunt them wherever they go. Update #41: D&D: Dwarves and Doors
Messier-31 replied to The Guildmaster's topic in Pillars of Eternity: Announcements & News
"Quickfire thought" Could there be a dwarven mountain stronghold that is actually inhabited by dwarves? A small town with vendors, inns and questgivers if you will. The reason I ask is because such dwarven settlements in the past have one thing in common: Mithrill's Hall (Forgotten Realms in general) Durlag's Tower (Baldur's Gate) Dorn's Deep (Icewind Dale) Khazad-dûm (Middle-earth) Durgan's Battery (Pillars of Eternity) Karaz-a-Karak (Warhammer Fantasy) They are all ruined, sacked and/or inhabited by evildoing evil monsters of evil evilness! I know it is cool to have dungeon crawling and climatic abandoned places but you get the picture? I mean COME ON - are dwarves really so lame they can not hold to at least some of their cities? To be fair, here's the list of known thriving dwarf settlements: Orzammar (Dragon Age) Ironforge (Warcraft) Dayum, helluva lot- 143 replies

What is Pillars of Eternity?
Messier-31 replied to Qistina's topic in Pillars of Eternity: General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)
We are the ones who founded Eternity. We are those who threw cash with valor for its development. And as time goes by we will be ones responsible for its release. We made this game possible. We are Eternimous. We are Legion. We do not play 'till it's done. Expect us. -

No, multi/dual-classing is a way for powergamers to find cheesy combinations which the game designers failed to properly take into account when balancing the classes. Ranger/Cleric, Kensai->Mage, and Berserker->Mage FTW! Amen! Now if you'll excuse me, my 2nd level Warrior/Ranger/Cleric/Mage/Squirrel/Carrot/Communist needs some attention.

Short version: I liked it
Messier-31 replied to PrimeJunta's topic in South Park: The Stick of Truth: General Discussion
I haven't got much time to spare for games nowadays, so I'm still playing (somewhere around level 4). Gameplay is generally "sweet" and "kewl", a lot of eye-candy here and there, very fun and rather easy with a genuine SP style. The funniest thing, though, is that whatever happens and whatever crazy ideas are implemented I can't be mad about them, because this is South Park after all. Crazy things happen there all the time. Cutting long story short: a really good game! "So screw you guys, I'm goin' home." -
Where is everyone from
Messier-31 replied to Sales101's topic in Pillars of Eternity: General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)
Its probably more to do with the fact that you Ozzies don't have decent Internet penetration in the Outback or your citizens are busy fighting all those dangerous and poisonous snakes, spiders and other lethal creatures that inhabit your fair land Help is on the way! ... Well maybe not in this exact moment, but I'll get there with my wife for our honeymoon. Probably just in time for the game release. Drat!
