The 8 Companions
Yay, no Forton in this speculation. Gender was also not confirmed. I doubt that devs would put two godlike companions in the main campaign, just as any other two: orlans, elves, et cetera.

Messier-31 replied to IndiraLightfoot's topic in Pillars of Eternity: General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)Question about char-rolling: what are your ways of coming up with a character name? 1. Standard name generator There's no point in making things up by yourself, let the software/webside do it for you. CAILVAN THISEDOR 2. "Here kitty, kitty" name generator Smash the keys on the keyboard in a random manner, or let the cat do it for you. DUIRFHG LIDYF 3. Self-made man Your own ideas are well thought and prepared beforehand. (these examples were taken from MMO's) OBAMACARE SWORDWIELDINGGUY 4. Thief Just take an already existing name from a novel, movie, some other game, etc. MADMARTIGAN, a human warrior LEGOLAS, an elven ranger 5. Other? Sometimes I find it troublesome and spend too much time thinking the right name for a char, because I want it unique. What about you?- Lessons from recent IE playthroughs
So true. As a matter of fact there are some aspects of evil outcomes which are arguably better than the good ones, but there's so few of them. I can merely recall two: taking the ransom in Athkatla which gives you the Silver Pantaloons (I guess most of you know why in the Nine Hells you need that in the 1st place) evil path in the Test of Greed grants you with Blackrazor, one of my favourite swords (there are ways to obtain it by being good, but consider it a flaw) Tried my best to be spoiler-free.- Who joins your Party?
How about orlan ranger with a pet flea?- Paradox/PoE at E3?
"Hi! I'm random NPC #239 that will nag you over and over again, and offer to tell you how the game ends! For only $1 you can watch me being [roasted] by a [demon]!" *BWAAAAAA* This thread is way off course right nao :v- Who joins your Party?

Totally hear that voice in my mind right now.- The Possibility of a delayed (2015) release
Back in the good ol' days of gamin' there were no fancy-schmancy whatnot steam, or foam, or whadda ya call 'em realeses. And if this product wants to be a true successor to the Infinity Engine games, there should be none. Y'hear? :me raises hand: I'm pretty sure Sancho had more fun than Don Quixote. I've made "support" builds in various cRPG's and had fun with them, e.g. that skillmaster in SoZ I've mentioned several times. I also ran a PnP campaign where one of the players was a noble and high official and everyone else were his retainers or slaves. That worked out really well; the players really jumped into the roles, with the staff doing all kinds of underhanded stuff behind the boss's back, manipulating him, pulling him out of scrapes, and so on and so fort Same here, playing PnP roleplays is a great example. The problem is the ability to enjoy playing such a character - supportive or whatnot - and by that I mean ROLE-PLAYING. Now, shifting all aspects of roleplaying (not just battling with enemies) from PnP into cRPG is challenging.- PE Spell FX Suggestion
#1 seems reasonable but I wouldn't mind the effects as they are now. A graphic hovering above character's head doesn't convince me and never did.- Update #78: The Leaders of the Band: Chanters and Priests

Not so fast, mister! These characters have been introduced during the Kickstarter Campaign: Edair – will be in the final game, but the name changed to Edér and the appearance also changed. Aloth – an elven wizard Cadegund – a human priest Forton – a Savannah human monk Sagani – a boreal dwarven ranger All of these character ideas were generated by Josh Sawyer without input from anyone else. While some of them will be appearing as companions more-or-less as they described them, some may appear in a different guise, some may appear as non-companion NPCs, and some may not appear at all.
