I love the Vindicator, I use it almost exclusively. There is something very satisfying about clearing an entire hallway with one blast. About the only time I switch back to the MG is during the cargo lift phase where you have to shoot the swarms off the ceiling or if one of the Shield bugs comes out.

Or worse, when they sit there and drill you in the back with machine gun fire. Did the first promotion yesterday and then found an awesome group to complete the campaign with. Got the achievement "Perfect" (take no damage during an entire map) which I was shocked to see. Fun game but a bit of a pain to get a good group. Also, nobody wants to be the healer or technician.

The developer comments address that.

Oy, you've got that right, particularly in Illinois. Our state is challenging California in the race to see who can have the largest defecit and our schools are some of the hardest hit because of it. There is literally a sign posted to the front door of my daughter school which keeps a running tally of how far behind the state is on providing state funding, currently around half a million, iirc. And thats applies to every school in the state.

As mentioned earlier, the quality of the schools in the US is based heavily on how affluent the town its in is. Richer towns (taxes) have more money to dedicate toward their school systems. If that is your major sticking point it would be much cheaper to send your child to a private school then to roll the dice on finding a "better school system" in another country.

Im not a Brit but wouldnt your choice of cities be influenced by what you are doing for employment? Gotta live close-ish to work, right?

Am currently in the middle of a bathroom rehab. Doing the downstairs half-bath and did the demolition over the weekend. Removed the mirror, sidesplash, countertop and sink. I was really sweating the mirror breaking so I taped it up like crazy with duct tape, donned safety glasses and leather gloves and went to work with a 6" putty knife tapping it behind the mirror all the way around. To my astonishment, just as I tapped the last corner, it popped off the wall just like you see on the home improvement shows. Same for the side splash and counter, just break through the liquid nails holding everything on and they pop right off. Finished patching, sanding and painting, now I just need to get the granite countertop and backsplash trimmed down a bit and then I can mount it and be done.

Isnt learn-by-doing open to blatant abuse? Ive never played it but I thought I remembered people not liking the Oblivion system, with someone posting a picture of how they fell off a cliff and died but leveled up their Acrobat skill in the process, or something like that.

As an experiment, I searched up WILLTHEALMIGHTY and as you stated there is a "Add to your friends list" choice, but it wont allow me to click it. Clicking on my "Games" tab reveals Alien Swarm but it probably doesnt count because it was free. Thanks for the invite, accepted. Ill see if Portal does anything once I get to my home computer.

Ok, n00b question, how do I send out a friend invite? Ive already received and accepted one, but I dont see any option to send out invites myself. I was logged in and under the "community" tab so if anyone could point me in the right direction it would be appreciated. EDIT: Nevermind, I must be having the same issue as others in this thread. I looked up one of you guys that had provided your Steam handle and it seems Im not able to add or invite a friend (that option is greyed out), only accept invitations. Weird.

So, got to level 5 last night and am having a good time with the game. Took a few practice missions to get used to the controls and I definately should have RTFM before I joined public games. During my first public game I still hadnt figured out how to switch to my backup weapon so I erroniously thought I had to click on the weapon icon and wound up killing our technician. Then, while listening to everyone ask me why I did that and not knowing how to reply, I accidentally killed another team member. I then shamequit that round, lol. Next round went much better and completed all 6-7 maps on the first area. So far so good wrt Steam. Ease of use and working right out of the box are two super important things to me and it did both with flying colors. Very fast download speeds were also a pleasant surprise.

Downloading as we speak. I must admit, I was pleasantly surprised by how smooth it was to signup to and install Steam. My handle is Gfted1.
