  1. Interesting you should mention that, I have a question. When I purchased BG from GoG the first step was to download or run the file. I chose to download it to a folder and then run it from there. Is that the installer package you are referring to? Does my downloading it to a folder on my PC mean Im safe from GoG going belly up? That I can just install it whenever I want regardless of GoG or does it still phone home to GoG before firing up the installer?
  2. Im not sure what all that has to do with anything but my point was directed at those posters in this thread who have never parented a minute of their lives yet somehow feel like they have it all figured out and are an authority on the matter. How do I put it nicely? They need to pull their heads out of their posteriors because they dont have a clue. Come into the thread with their chests all puffed up trumpeting this and that nonsense? Facts? Life experience? Screw that! Guess thats par for the internet course. I couldnt care less what the cop did, Im just addressing the knowitalls. To answer your questions, neither of those count as parenting. See, parenting is a full time job that you never get a break from. You (the parent) are responsible for every aspect of that childs development from birth until they leave the home and they depend on you for that guidance. Babysitting is a few hours gig where your job is to basically keep them from dieing on your watch.
  3. Or one for time spent parenting vs. people who have never parented a minute of their lives. And no, watching your younger sibling for an hour doesnt count, at all, in any capacity.
  4. IMO, its because having a physical copy gives people a feeling of ownership where a digital copy is at the discretion of the supplier. The faux GoG going out of business and the resultant "what about my games" is a good example of this. If we could somehow "own" the digital version I dont think as many people would be adverse to it.
  5. What about, one of the best games ever? Oh, thats definately the vibe I get from almost everyone. Its just that certain comments weigh more, like Gromnir calling it "navel gazing", which is the worst possible reading for me.
  6. Ug, thats what Im afraid of. Ill probably buy it "just to have it", and see what all the hubbub was about from you guys.
  7. I wish I was a Q.
  8. Look at the size of that paw! Was Baby part bobcat or something? And yes, thats a bit creepy, as I would guess they pressed his dead paw into the clay. Oh, and sorry for your loss. I hate it when pets die.
  9. He hasnt been around since January. Wonder what happened to him.
  10. Agreed. I just bought and downloaded the game from GoG and it looks terrible. I made it past character creation and buying a few things at the inn in the beginning before I had to turn it off lest it destroy all fond memories I have of the game. Can't you circumvent the rez with just the wide screen patch (and some gui hack), or is my memory really that faulty? I gather from the previous posts that TuTu seems to work.
  11. Agreed. I just bought and downloaded the game from GoG and it looks terrible. I made it past character creation and buying a few things at the inn in the beginning before I had to turn it off lest it destroy all fond memories I have of the game.
  12. Green card? Citi-zen-ship? What are these strange words you speak? He should just jump the fence like everyone else and then demand we dont deport him, while taking advantage of our social programs.
  13. ^Should have sold it on Ebay. I caved to the sirens song that is cheap games and joined GoG. Dont know what Ill buy but seeing $9.99 for BG w/ TotSC and $5.99 for Arcanum was just too much to pass up.
  14. So, just to get the stupid questions out of my system, the games GoG sells are already fully patched and guaranteed to work in modern systems and OS's? I already saw BG is speced to work in Win7 x32 and x64, is that the case with most/all games?
  15. Isnt that why GoG is letting its users download everything they bought? I would assume the same would happen if Steam ever goes belly up, or at least I hope so.
  16. Take notice of what? Was this supposed to make people flood to GoG in droves and buy up all their games? If anything, I would think this stunt would be counter productive and give people the impression that they are unstable.
  17. I see. Too bad Steam doesnt sell it, Id love to pick up the entire BG series w/ expansions, all patched up and ready to go.
  18. How does that video in any way suggest a marketing stunt?
  19. Good for you? Again, Im not discussing the topic but the legal process. The voters of California, following the letter of the law, changed their state constitution to reflect their wishes and one person has the power to erase that. A state costitutional ammendment was nullified by a handwave! That should make the hair on the back of your neck stand up. How does an ammendment even make the ballot if its illegal/unconstitutional? Clarify this position please. The only limits should be on things that go against state or federal law.
  20. I dont know the details either, I just find it revolting that one person can squash the will of millions who legally ammended their states constitution to reflect their wishes. Marriage is not protected by the constitution afaik.
  21. Dunno. How do you deal with tyranny of the judiciary?
  22. Lol, take a deep breath there little fella. I dont hate anyone, or have a stake in the outcome, or even live in said state. I simply refuted the statement you puked forth earlier. Regarding the bolded nonsense, wouldnt the constitution be "stupidly easy" to reammend the other direction or is that only for whoever you disagree with?
  23. and yet the concerns of 5% of the population trumping the other 95% doesn't? Eh, Im not interested in getting into right/wrong. I was simply refuting your statement that "it takes a lot for something to be "legislated" by the courts" when in fact it takes very very little to randomly overthrow a states legally binding constitution. Whats the point in even voting on anything? All we need is a federal judge to decide for us how we should live.
  24. Regardless, my example was to prove that it takes almost no effort to "legislate" through the courts. ONE mans opinion trumps millions of registered voters. Sickening.
