  1. I set mine to control color dynamics. Anyway Ive moved on to painter IX now so Ive got that to wrestle with, there I can get it sharp but the color dynamics doesnt work the same, you cant paint bright over dark for instance.
  2. but seriously, after the "its not just about the battles" there should have been a "involving deep story" not just "and theres loads of 1337 sh*t to kill stuff with!!" its a telltale sign of a horrid action-rpg if the devs are just writing about how many nifty new spells and magical items you can have.
  3. After tonights playing session Im really starting to get into the game and truly appreciating it(the thing with the sensates and memory stones). It seems there isnt much to motivate you in the beginning and I can understand mkreku quitting in the middle of the catacombs. Its difficult this, getting the player hooked right from the start without spoiling the buildup of tension and excitement that comes with discovering more of the story.
  4. another brainless hack n slash to the bunch <_<
  5. American release is February 8th, European releae is February 11th. Its not that much to fuzz about. oh, you were talking about the version for "that non-pc platform that shall not be named"
  6. non-english speakers using bablefish to communicate.
  7. I just hope the next game will be all-original, totally new and exciting. New world, new rules, the whole package. We've seen enough adaptions. preferrably in a modern day setting
  8. BioWare latest job opening for a writer stated The only flaw in this I see is that someone who gets scripts filmed or books published can make a lot more money on his own than working as a writer for Bio. Seeing that ad has been there for a year now, kind if prooves that everyone but Bio has realised above truth.
  9. Is the computer your connecting to on your network? If so then check your tcp/ip settings and make shure windows is up to date on both(SP2 is a wiz for screwing up networks) if its an internet comp, you need to set the routers firewall to allow access. need more info to help
  10. I dont mean to be rude, but I think youre very much explaining the obvious. Yes, and Id rather pay high taxes and keep the public sector functioning(healthcare, schools etc.) than have everyone pay for these services out of their own pockets. And apparently its working because our society is both safer and IMO better to live in for everyone. Too much of anything is harmful, you cant argue with that. However, some thing are proven more harmful than others. I think it was Winston Churchill who said that democracy is a lousy, difunctionate system but its the best we got. I would say the same for our version of social economics.
  11. If the US is so great because of its more pure capitalist politics, then why is all the things necessary for living in the public sector such as publich healthcare etc. without a doubt better in countries with a more socialist system such as Canada or Sweden? Also, these countries have less homeless and outright empoverished people(in percentage or population) And also capitalism isnt the reason why the US is the most powerful nation today, Haiti is also a very capitalist state yet they suffer from extreme poverty as most of the countries resources are being sold abroad by the very small group of people there with money. capitalism only benefits the strong, those that already have power and money. those without are forced to sell their labour at whatever price the rich are willing to pay ..ok, now im ranting again but the main issue is that capitalism creates a society that isnt very good to live in for the majority of the population.
  12. Swedish release is February 11th
  13. I think the optimum(normal) difficulty is so that you can, just barely, survive all encounters the first time playing- thereby assuring a sense of accomplishment without breaking game flow or tempo But as for my own preference with CRPG gaming, I get the most satisfaction out of advancing the story using my own intelligence and deduction. Not in the way of puzzles(since they're usually just thrown in to hinder the player and keep him busy for a while) but for finding clues, talking to people, finding out things. Sort of how I enjoy an episode of "midsummer murders" or "detective frost" much more than watching an action flick.
  14. Yes capitalism(as with communism ironicly) is a wonderful idea on paper but it has horrible consequences when applied to reality. The market can never be free because the big fish will always eat the smaller fish and then rule the market with an iron hand using everything but fair competition. Capitalist China would be exactly the same as any other capitalist state, a place where 1% of the population owns or consumes 90% of the available resources. But the problem is that the capitalist economy relies on less-developed states where production is cheap enough to offer products to its own countries at affordable prices. It also relies on less-developed counties to sell out their natural resourcs at an affordable price. If enough countries reach the wests state of technologicl and economic development, there will be no more cheap production, no more cheap oil, no more cheap food. Prices will skyrocket and the economic system will tumble. Well, that was 5 years ago when Ericsson sold the factory to Emerson who in turn outsourced it to southeast asia and rendered 70% of my hometowns population unemployed. Hello Capitalism. Now if Ericsson had made cellphones with Nokias quality(instead of trying to peddle crap using expensive advertising), they wouldnt have had to sell to an unscrupulous foreign company that didnt think twice to use the axe to increase profit, and my hometown would still have been a good place to live in.
  15. Heh, the latter actually. I love the concept of cinematic game storytelling ..but its a shame that they cant look to the needs of people like you who like old fashioned "died 79 times before defeating Boss nr.34"challenge, because it would be so easy to implement. Hades hinted that they should follow the PnP rules closer, I agree only if they make the number of violent encounters equal to it. You cant whack down a whole academy full of Sith with PnP rules.
  16. I finally fixed my Fallout(only got 32 colors at horrible resolution) so Im digging into it but I realise that now as Im also playing Torment, I need lush forrest and green fields to wander over. It just feels so dark and hopeless and Im playing to rescue my character from misery, not to enjoy the game sort of.. so Baldurs Gate for me
  17. Fallout 2 Planescape Torment Knights of the old republic Grim fandango Vampire bloodlines BF1942 Call of duty Black hawk down Starwars battlefornt Wh40k Dwn of war Ravenshield FarCry Quake3 Wolfenstein enemy territory Neverwinter nights Jedi Academy ..I need to clean up
  18. I really cant see the pleasure in doing something 30 times in a row just to get it right, thats frustration for me, not challenge. And In a RPG it breaks the flow and story to constantly have to reload. I mean, we dont do it in PnP games do we? But this is something Ive wanted to ask you people who like challenging games- is it enough just to do a baldursgate, plansescape thing and just increase monster damage or do you require more to accomplish your need for difficulty?
  19. No, I just dont like capitalism. I belive the primary function of companies should be to further humanity/supply society with the best possible products, not to generate maximum profit at all costs. ..and communism is a joke, sometimes a really funny one :D
  20. Im pretty shure its Xbox exclusive. Part of the deal Bio did with M$
  21. http://www.politicalcompass.org/ This is a site with a test to determine where you stand politicly. Its not as elaborate as one would wish buts its one of the better ones out there. I dont consider myself anything so its fun to see what these things say(this one did place me almost ideologicly similar to Ghandi). Does anyone know of any other similar sites or tests? it would be nice to get "a second opinion".
  22. I think thats quite ridiculous, the days of cold war superpower vs. superpower are over and gone. It IS an economic threat though due to the massive outsourcing by western companies resulting in mass unemployment. By assisting in the development of China the living standards can go up and wages rise, effectively killing outsourcing, everyone wins. ..however, since capitalism is based on the uneven distribution of wealth/resources, a billion competitors to the western lifestyle would be bad. Or good, meaning it could be the fall of capitalism. hmm, I think I derailed myself a bit here
  23. The OT mods are allright, its just their silly "family" policy that ruins everything. I dont know why they have it, it must be somekind of widespread idea that a serious company must have "neat&tidy" forums for some reason
  24. Yes, you're right. Heavy water=deuterium. But in any case tritium is only harmful if you eat it since the radiation is so weak it cant penetrate the skin. The whole point of fusion power is to have a clean energy source, isnt it?
  25. Bloodlines sucked because the crappy anticlimax for an ending(dont get me started again). And regarding bugs, they're part of the "tech" category which is removed from my other points of judgement- like KoTOR crashed to desktop every other area load and changed graphics settings all on its own, but I still think it was a great game. But a gamestopper is an unforgivable offense. They should decimate(roman style) their QA department as punishment.
