  1. The big difference is it's a standardised unit. If something works on one Xbox it should work on any non damaged one. Thats not the case with PC games because of the myriad of possible setups, different cards etc. Software that the owner may or not be aware of lurking in the background. It's simply unfeasable to test every game with all but the most common configurations.
  2. You know how you cycle through mines and grenades ? When you have Mira selected if you carry on doing that you will eventually (I find cycling backwards faster) get to the wrist ammo.
  3. Things have really settled down now. And most of the new arrivals are really happy with the place. Those coming spouting ill informed opinions less so. I still dont see it as being any great benifit to Obsidian keeping them open. But if Feargus wants to do a favour for all those people who have followed him around for years across various boards keeping it open as a place to hang out would probably be universally appreciated, even if the developers cant be around as much as they would like to be.
  4. Do you have destroy droid ? That works wonder on the yacht. T-3 with his electro arm is another good option, amazing shielding so he wont take much damage. Very high AC too. It's relatively easy to rescue your main character. Although it's also easy to miss. First time I did most of the level with only Mira and T-3. The location of your character should be indicated (audience chamber I think) might help you find them quicker.
  5. ah , never found much use fir the feedback window.
  6. Id suggest IWD. Because not only is it fun it's own right. It will also make clearer the higher level rules BG II uses.If you can get the hang of IWD then BGII will be less intimidating.
  7. She was wrong anyway. Unless those Sith assasins were a figment of the imagination. The soldiers could have followed the Harbinger in , or they could have been assasins out of stealth armour. Although I would just have sneaked aboard myself :D If you let them all on, you can get a huge XP bonus which you dont get if you shoot them.
  8. Ship movement definately something a lot of people will hate slow , yes. Bad controls, nah it's really simple stuff. Reefs etc are not visible so sometimes you will get spun around for what looks like no reason. Once you reveal the map it makes more sense. I think the fog was a mistake but then again it does show all the bonus islands without the fog. When you get your fleet you can sometimes bump into each other, and you cant rotate on the spot to get back to the same island. Encounter rate, honestly dosnt seem that bad no worse than Skies of Arcadia and as I said before you can release non xp encounters or just equip a champion orb. It's definately short if you just play the main path. First time I was expecting a flase end and I got totally thrown by not sending my storng party to the wrong place. If you do the other elements like finding all 108 stars, the treasure hunts, revealing the map etc. Then its about the same sort of length.
  9. They were not to know about the intent to destroy the ship. Which is why the Mandalorians used missile cores as the explosive charges (since they register as part of the ship when scanned).
  10. What is it Vader says "The power to destroy a planet is insignificant next to the power of the force" Much like himself I expect it was held together by the darkside. Perhaps in the same way Sion was.
  11. If they did Oscars for video games she should get one.
  12. You probably would have liked it if they had run it like FFX-2 Mind you if you wanted the happy ever after you really had to work for it.
  13. Mandalore was doing it because Kreia told him to do it. Didnt you see that scene in the hanger?
  14. It couldnt be Revans ship. He wasnt at M5 when the Mass Shadow Generator was activated.
  15. Planet of the droids was cut quite early I think. Also that quote looks altered from the one I saw in the interview which would be very naughty. "From a production perspective, the best thing we did was to cut M4-78, the Droid Planet. I won't go into details, but we had this incredible design for a planet of droids. We actually did the first pass on art and built the character models for the location. But we had to look at the schedule and make a big cut after E3. We cut the entire planet. At the time, we were afraid it would make the game too short - but fortunately, there is so much other content, that wasn't the case. And we used a lot of elements from that planet elsewhere in the game. Ultimately, I think it made the game better, but it really hurt at the time, especially for the designer who had almost finished the planet, Kevin Saunders". The "logic" behind leaving in the files still escapes me.
  16. T-3 is the star of the show in KOTOR II. It's amazing what Obsidian did with the little guy compared the empty beeping tin can he was in KOTOR.
  17. Well as Ferret said if they want to write a story with Revan in it, they are going to need to pick a gender and a side. Otherwise your going to have to write 4 times as much dialogue and thats before even trying to write a story where the PC has a choice in the outcome from thier own perspective. The only solution I saw was the one that Suikoden III used with the trinity system. In essense you play the story from three perspectives, then at a critical point you choose which of the three will be your champion for the climax. The problem there is that Suikoden dosnt give you choices in the same sense that KOTOR does, the characters all have their own destinies and your just along for the ride. Because writing a story for three character of any gender plus the option to go DS or LS would be a nightmare (not to mention you then have to voice it). So while you could play Revan The Exile and New PC you would be playing the writers versions not your own. (except perhaps in the case of new PC). My guess is that you will end up following the trail of both and meet them at the end as the master and apprentice bad guys. Probably suitbably masked or dsfigured so as not to conflict with anyones choice of appearence. Even then you still have to allow for gender though but as long as they dont have a big part thats much less of a problem as you can do it in a similiar way to how it worked in KOTOR II with Attons questions.
  18. Good question. I havnt started it yet. I know it's got quite an interactive combat system where you press buttons around a dial but thats about it. Add some more tommorow evening if you like. Next doors cat is sick and I'm taking care of it overnight to make sure it dosnt get worse so I cant really play as the consoles not in this room.
  19. He's not going to be like that anyway so you lose out on both counts really. It might be a Revan , but it wont be the one you created. If Obsidian are not doing KOTOR whoever does has a very non enviable task on their hands. Perhaps thats why LA sheleved their KOTOR III team..
  20. A carebare with a lightsaber now thats the stuff nightmares are made of. We're the e-e-e-e ewoks. Defenders of the forest groves ! (opening line to the Ewok cartoon spinoff which just popped into my head for some inexplicable reason).
  21. It was, but it still never answered the question of your identity. I think there were more than enough clues around though. Nobody seems to like the ship travel very much but once I got the fisherman with the driftnet I hardly ever teleported. Every time you arrived somewhere it was like opening a goody bag. Got till Thursday now to finish ShadowHearts before part II arrives.
  22. Well there is that problem with the international Xbox version so it's possible that it slipped through. What I meant really, was if it was done with Feargus' blessing or if it was just slipped in. Assuming that it wasnt an oversight or accident. Because I cant see any benifit to leaving it in, and if it was done as favour to the mod community it's really ended up biting them in the butt wouldnt you say?
  23. Is it 4 years already ? MS have signed up the guy who used to do FF games to make two RPGs for their new system. So i've gone from being ambivilent to interested over the course of the article.
  24. KOTOR II plays much like the Suikoden games. You have NPC's you will always find, NPCs that you can miss but are not too hard to get. And you have your "secret" NPCs which are a case of either being very lucky, or very patient. Gau in SIV took me 20+ random battles to find second time around. Only 3 first time (which is the only reason I knew he existed). What does this have to do with KOTOR ? Well you have your obvious Jedi that you cant miss, Kreia and Vissis. You have the NPCs that just scream out look at me I'm a jedi but I dont know it yet (Atton,Mira etc) And you have Bao Dur who probably fits into the "luck" catagory as there is nothing obviously Jedi about him. The fact he cant wear robes kinda throws you off too. If you feel that you are being punished because you are missing something, then these are probably not the games for you. If on the other hand you like to find something new every time you replay these sort of games will almost guarentee it unless you used a walkthrough. I found something significant each time I played KOTOR II. Actually on my last play taking Bao Dur to Dxun he has a lot to say. On finishing KOTOR II my only thought was wow there is a lot there that this particular character didnt experience and I dived straight back in with a new concept. On finishing KOTOR I was, well thats the story done nothing much to add there even from the darkside. My only real issue with the influence system is the pacing. Which either by luck or design can lead to it feeling too fast rather than as a developing relationship. But none of that "you gain a level so heres another spoonful of story" that Bioware uses. Something much more organic.
