Found a Good One...
ShadowPaladin V1.0 replied to RitterOne's topic in Star Wars: General Discussion
I miss Feargus' Palpatine avatar. -
Worked for me. Each character got a slightly different view of the world depending on who they buddied up with. I'll tell you the real suprise though was Hanhar, that guy is both twisted and remarkably deep in a low int high wis kind of way. I never ever ever want to go back to Biowares gain a level be spoonfed some story approach again.

Thats an error a lot of people make. Influence works high or low but it wont work in the middle. If you keep losing influence with Kreia she will eventually realise that she cannot "shape" you and will tell you her story anyway. It's not like any of this is a big secret it tells you during the loading screen hints. That said my first LS used to view talking to Kreia like a trip to the heads office. She just has this way of making you doubt yourself and feel like a small child.

I'd have a big phone in poll one of those 50p per vote jobs to determine the identity of Revan for the next game. -

Probably something to do with the cheatcodes. I've certainly never experienced it and if it was common you would hear a lot more about it. -
Revan in KOTOR III.
ShadowPaladin V1.0 replied to ShadowPaladin V1.0's topic in Star Wars: General Discussion
My "solution" from the other thread. Hey what if you had KOTORIII blue and KOTORIII red ? That would solve it On second thoughts you would need. KOTOR III Red Female KOTOR III Red Male KOTOR III Blue Female KOTOR III Blue Male Hands up who would buy more than one ? ( I see a Lucas Arts exec looking at the Pokemon sales and rubbing his hands with glee). -
Why is it that I don't end up in a cell?

I've never had this happen in four games. Xbox version btw. -

Because your personal experience of the game isnt actually universal. As much as I feel for people who get stuck with buggy software (personally I return anything with a gamestopper) to consider that as representative would be very wrong.

While in KOTOR II attons questions allowed some continuity between the games. If Revan and the Exile (poll to follow maybe) were to have a larger role in the game then it's likely that some sort of final official choices would have to be made.

Continuity kills KOTOR
ShadowPaladin V1.0 replied to Cerebus's topic in Star Wars: General Discussion
It's still short sighted to trap yourself in that way. You may want to make the rest of it make sense. Yes I'm sure the big revelation was meant to be that obvious. Even for Bioware the masters of the obvious that was a stretch. Especially since you cant get on with the game until the game catches up with you. It's not like there are not a million in game clues which point to it either, so it's not even like you are drawing on non character knowledge. The characters will only react to your new identity after the leviathon. Even if you ignore Revan people are not going to be happy. Hardly gives closure does it? No the problem is that every player has already written their ideal story even if they dont realise it. Though that it was a mistake to leave Revan as a nebulous entity. Especially in view of the number of people who didnt realise the purpose of Attons questions. -
Rebublic Commando any good ? Played the demo and was underwhelmed to say the least.

Continuity kills KOTOR

I wanted to start mine off as a Padawan on Coruscant. With Mira as my Master (Mistress?) You are to accompany your Mistress on a diplomatic mission. But on the way she stops off at an unknown planet/moon. The two of you get caught up in a conflict and Mira dies as result. Which leaves you with her lightsaber and no teacher. Then you would continue on to complete the mission as best you could. Or just find a way to get off the planet. At some point you would be exploring ruins and end up plunging into a lost archive detailing the history of the Mandalorian Wars and The Jedi Cival War. And a defunct astromech droid. Then cobble together enough parts to get it up and running again and it goes tootling off deeper into the archives. Eventually it reaches a door and does it's thing, and as the door opens behind it is the Ebon Hawk ,battered and hardly spaceworthy. You then find a Holo from Mira explaining what happened on M5. And what her REAL mission was. Cue end of prologue and proper start of the game. -
Continuity kills KOTOR

It still gives you a premade destiny though. It may be less obvious but its the same principle. The big difference with Morrowind is that you can lose the story for days as time so it dosnt have the same effect that it has in a more story based game. -

Actually in Morrowind you are the chosen one, it's just a less specific thing than making you Revan the chosen one. -
The influence system would work differently if you had a different character (not the exile). The exile knowingly or unknowingly forces his will on people around him, especially force sensitives. Thats why characters will often say "I dont know why I did that" or why you can ask Mira why her code against killing dosnt seem to apply when she is around you. The higher or lower your influence with someone is, the more this happens, their alignment will come to match your own. Especially if you have a high charisma as well.

Continuity kills KOTOR
ShadowPaladin V1.0 replied to Cerebus's topic in Star Wars: General Discussion
Bioware made a big mistake and Obsidian compounded it. Revan is not your character, it never really was. You only "borrowed" him/her while they had no memory. Once the character has a memory again they dont need you to play them anymore. The mistake Obsidian made was to make Revan remote. By doing so people are still going through KOTOR II imagining that Revan is their character and is going to pop up in KOTOR III. A Revan will likely pop up in KOTOR III but it wont be the one you played in KOTOR it will be changed. If Revan is going to be a big part of the story someone will have to make a stand on where exactly the character is. You cant have a male/female ls/ds maybe and expect to write a good story. It's hard enough when you just have a PC with those variables without introducing it with Revan and the Exile as well. So a lot of people are going to be disapointed by KOTOR III no matter what. -

If Feargus, or any of the other devs wanted people to discuss certain things then they would only have to make a thread title and the rest would just happen. Obviously it would be much easier for the mods to keep these threads tidy because they would be quite clearly marked. Rather than having to delve through 100+ threads to check what was going on. Even if it was a case of every week the threads were commented on and the next thread topic started it would still give people the idea that the developers were listening. -
Revan's fate in KotOR 3 (or later)
ShadowPaladin V1.0 replied to dufflover's topic in Star Wars: General Discussion
Major FF spoilers to follow.. In FFX you play a character called Tidus (though you can rename it it's still the same character). Tidus is flung 1000 years into the future by an encounter with a being called Sin (at least he thinks he is). In the new world he meets Yuna who is a summoner. The purpose of the Summoner is to jouney to each of the temples of Spira and awaken the Aeon therein. Then having done so visit the sacred city of Zanarkand and fight sin by awakening the final Aeon. The down side to this is that the Final Aeon will take the body of one her guardians and after killing Sin will then kill her. This is what happened to her father 10 years prior to the start of the game. However the Summoners see 10 years free of Sin (or the calm) as a small price to pay for the sacrifice. Enter Tidus who falls for Yuna and convinces her to not just blindly follow the teachings of Yevan (the church of spira). Ultimately they unite the world and destroy Sin completely and Yu Yevan too (sins creator). Unfortunately Tidus isnt actually real, he's a waking dream which escaped from the Zanarkand that exists inside Sin (and in Yu Yevons mind) which means that the death of Sin not only destroys the Aeons , but also destroys Tidus as well. Cut too 2 years on. Yuna is a big celebrity having saved the world but she still misses Tidus. Rikku , Yuna's cousin finds a sphere which appears to show Tidus imprissoned somewhere. This leads Yuna on a new quest to find Tidus, but unfortunately the person in the sphere isnt him. It's actually someone from a 1000 years before. The time of the war that created Sin. And he's not the happiest chappy in the world having gone insane. After a huge quest where Yuna confronts her passed, her feelings for Tidus and pieces together the story of what happened to Lenn 1000 years ago if you complete enough of the game then you get the happy ever after where the Aeons bring Tidus back to life. Or you can just come to terms with his loss and have an alternate ending. You do have a point there some people do want the happy ever after ending. But equally some people dont. For some characters happy ever after just dosnt work. What I loathe above all things is where the designer ignores what you do in order to tell the story. Like Malak in KOTOR, in my game he died on the Leviathon but the script still played out anyway. Likewise with his cheesey escape routine sentinels are not supposed to be paralysed so he shouldnt be able to do it. So regardless of which ending you want to put across as a writer , unless you tie it in with the game rules then you simply cheapen everything the characters have accomplished to that point.
