  1. Yeah, I understand that it would be a mod. Doesn't change my opinion about it.
  2. And you act like saying things like "I respect your low standards" isn't a completely ironic statement. As for reading, I'm guessing many of us are older than you, and remember when PC games didn't have to pretend to be movies to be awesome. Plus, with all the dialogue in this game, sitting through hours and hours of amateur voice acting actually sounds like cruel and unusual punishment.
  3. I don't think the voice acting is the only problem in that video.
  4. Really soon! I heard today that they sent along the final cut for us to review, so once that makes its rounds internally (and barring any adjustments) we'll get it out there. Thanks for the interest. Nice. Thanks for the update! And thanks for an awesome game! It was well worth the 2 1/2 year wait! Oh, and more personally, thanks again for letting me come down and tour your office with Adam immediately following the Kickstarter campaign. Not sure if you would even remember that since it was so long ago, but it happened!
  5. A sound practice. Happy to see Obsidian taking this route. Ravenous fans get the patches early. Obsidian gets some larger scale beta testing. More cautious or casual fans get more solid final patches. Win, win, win!
  6. What's the ETA for the making of being made available? I'm looking forward to checking that out, since I'm just kind of nerdy that way!
  7. The thing I appreciate most about having a small bit of voice acting, as we do currently, is it gives key characters a voice. I can hear that voice in my head very clearly when I'm reading the non-VO lines. It works out great as in, in my opinion.
  8. Knock yourself out, for a mod. Personally I prefer the voice acting how it is. Certain notable lines are voice acted. The rest, I can just read through much more quickly than voice acting would allow.
  9. Costs waaaay more than this, and makes game development MUCH more restrictive. Any dialogue changes require voice acting? PoE isn't the game that's going to blow millions and millions of dollars on voice acting. I encourage you to get used to reading or find a different game.
  10. I don't think Obsidian will make PoE2 yet. I'm betting they'll mix it up for their next game. Perhaps a titled called, hmm... Eternity of Pillars, in the world of Aroe. Instead of the late middle ages, it will be more like the super late middle ages. Oh, and the printing press will definitely have been invented in that game. It will be a totally different kind of adventuring-game, of course with 11 classes, 6 races, subraces, a companion named Aloth, another named Pallegina, etc. 3 cheers for variety!
  11. I guess Obsidian didn't like your screen name as much as they liked your roommates. Maybe you should reach out to Obsidian support to ensure there aren't any problems with your order. Or maybe they're just handling shipment in alphabetical order, or something. I'm very happy to have received my stuff 2 days after the game went live.
  12. The restrictions are important to the flow of the story, so removing them would be counter productive. So I wouldn't hold your breath on this being done as an official game change. If you're a programmer, you can probably figure out how to mod the game to allow this. But don't go crying to Obsidian if it results in game breaking bugs.
  13. I find comments like this disturbing. In the "olden days" we didn't have fancy games that try to be movies, and we would open these ancient devices called books for entertainment. The entire thing required reading. We weren't discouraged by this. We were thoroughly captivated. Apparently the younger generation has lost touch the concept of reading for fun. Yep, disturbing.
  14. Sorry to hear that, particularly after all the time you spent helping to improve the game. I guess this is perhaps the curse of being so deeply invested. Perhaps there was practically no way the final product could live up to your expectations. I'm happy in this case not to be much of a game critic, as that means I'm pretty much able to relive the experience I had back in college when I first played Baldur's Gate. Except, I haven't dropped out of work for a week (been tempted, trust me, just not a good time for that at the moment), and I'm consuming a lot less pizza. The game has it's flaws, but I'm getting my IE fix in a 2015 package.
  15. I think the better question is how many times has he beaten it? I'm surprised to see a lot of posting still happening here. Shouldn't the beta forums be locked or something, or is this just where the cool kids like to hang out these days?
  16. You realize this makes you evil, right? And by you, I don't mean your character, I mean you. As long as you're okay with that...!
  17. Anyone else having this problem? Anyone? Buhler? Buhler...? Buhler...?
  18. Bummer. You should probably give this thread a more informative title. Might increase your chances for getting the specific assistance you need for this issue. That said, not sure if there would be much you could do beyond going back to an earlier save. Maybe there is though. I'll keep my fingers crossed for you.
  19. It's a district in Defiance Bay. The quest you need to complete is part of the main quest line, so if you continue with that you'll hit it eventually. Ah boo. I've been trying to get as much done without advancing the main quest as possible. Man, you got me all scared about a "major bug"... and it seem not to be a bug at all. Well, at least I don't have to worry about proceeding with Od Nua. I have done the tower. Thanks to whomever posted the truth about this here.
  20. I finished the final stronghold upgrade yesterday, but no achievement. I carefully checked the list 3 times, and there's nothing additional to upgrade. Thought I'd pass this along. If it matters, my party was in the main hall of the keep when the final building completed its upgrade.
  21. Agreed with the praise for the soundtrack. I thought it was good during the beta, but it has only gotten better. Plenty of great tracks, and plenty of variety. Combat track D is indeed awesome.
  22. Okay lonely little thread. I found you out here on page 19. It's time to send you on your way once and for all. Enjoy the ride to obscurity and oblivion. I'm sorry that you just weren't meant to be. Parting is such sweet sorrow....
  23. Does that take into account all 3 versions of Pillars of Eternity? Hero, Champion, etc? I see only a single price listed, which I believe is the least expensive version.
  24. Do your hirelings paydays come out of your treasury first? That might be part of what's going on.
