  1. To clarify, it would be more accurate to have said that Obsidian wants to continue to pursue developing games using the traditional publisher model, which in theory at least means developing games that have greater mass appeal than a nichy title like Pillars. EDIT - the above post was in response to Bryy's previous post, which ended up on a different page and with another post in between. I thought it would help to point that out to ensure that the context of my post was clear.
  2. Is that the first expansion as in, the first part of the expansion they plan to deliver? Or that's the total sum including the second installment as well?
  3. I know Obsidian wants to continue to pursue the mass audience route. That's their bread and butter. The hope is that keeping games like PoE going is both financially viable and something they want to continue doing. Based on developer comments they do want to keep this going. I can't speak to the financials, but I sure do hope that the success we are seeing is more than sufficient to justify continuing.
  4. A great new storyline could certainly intersect back to places like the stronghold.
  5. I guess I better check to see if I'm affected by that bug also. I have fought those enemies.
  6. I hope that it doesn't simply add new content, but also improves some of the existing content. The stronghold could certainly use some love. I'd love to see a large scale, scripted siege against the stronghold occur, where all of your hirelings, party members (the six in your party and any additional in your barracks and house) all have a role to play. Maybe an upgrade to include some siege engines for improved defense. I'm talking an epic battle here, where an unproperly defended keep can have serious consequences. I'd also like to see more life in the Caed Nua. Folks coming to visit. That amphitheater having some periodic performances. Some additional generic guards in key locations. And I'm sure there's plenty more that could be done. I'd also like to see some "epic weapons" added, that compare to the likes of Crom Faeyr, Carsomyr, etc. Weapons that are too powerful to be further enchanted, and that actually go beyond the standard limitations for enchantments... artifact level items. Most important though is plenty of new content, high levels of experience that can be obtained, and a story that continues the exploits of the Watcher. I certainly wouldn't mind seeing a new part of the world either. Aedyr, Readceras, the Vailian Republic... those would all be great. Though an expansion of the Dyrwood and/or Eir Glanfath would be great too. Maybe an expansion on the known areas and a bit of new as well would be doable. A new companion or two would be nice, as would perhaps a new class, but these are extra credit in my opinion. Not requirements. I'm looking forward to seeing what Obsidian has in store. What would you guys like to see?
  7. That's $7.8m before Paradox's cut. Not bad for pure profit. I guess ole Feargus gets to buy himself a private island in Fiji after all! I hope Obsidian makes millions and millions and millions off this game. I also hope there will one day be a backer party on Fear Island!
  8. What in the hell is this thread even about at this point?
  9. I think it was Troika's Temple of Elemental Evil that had an advance time option. You could simply specify how many hours you wanted to let pass. It wasn't resting and so no healing or spell resources would be regained. It was a handy option that would probably be easy to implemement.
  10. No one will be able to count my non-DRM game disk on any of those sites! HAH! Whenever it finally arrives, that is.
  11. Stop being a bunch of apologists already. The fact they decided to make it look like a game from 20 years ago already highlights how lazy there were. Cutting all the things that might have given it a glimmer or visual quality only brings that truth home. It's 15 years ago, not 20, and it absolutely does look better than those games from 15 years ago. But for me personally the writing, story and characters are FAR more important to me than moving shrubberies. So stop calling me an apologist. I'm just expressing my view. I'll never forget some idiot gaming exec many years back making the statement of "you want to see the fear in the Orc's eye before you hurl a fireball at him don't you?" and basically everyone from the IE era was like, no, actually, we don't. Just give us a deep game with a great story, and you can keep your graphical fluff to yourself. I will personally put swaying tree in a similar category. I had to find it. It was a post from Atari about their plans for BG3. The shame: The guy who just doesn't get it. This is from June 2005.

  13. The IE line works well for me. Which is pretty much identical to PoE, except for the combining of the cloak slot and amulet slot. Of course, the grimoire slot and the pet slot are new.
  14. I got my CE box a couple of weeks ago, but I don't typically bother with such things like uploading the experience on youtube. I know there was a thread here on Saturday March 28 where one of the first backers uploaded a few pictures of his unboxing. I remember because it's the same day I received my box.
  15. Would like the option for both items to be equipped, largely because few of my party members end up with capes due to me seeming to find better neck items. I'd rather have them all in capes, since, of course adventurers are going to have capes on.
  16. <--- It doesn't take much to confuse this guy.

  18. It has nothing with being invested or being a critic. I also own the game and stopped playing mid way. It's just too boring. Wave after wave of mmo enemies that yield no reward and now that i see the IE mod is discontinued i'm not coming here anymore either, since removing the movement limitations at least made the game bearable. Fair enough. It just isn't the game for you guys. Can't make everyone happy.
  19. I particularly like the smoke and fog type effects. The dock in defiance bay looks awesome when that fog rolls in. The dynamic lighting is also great. No, plants don't move but oh well. If making them work properly was going to take too many resources Obsidian was right to deprioritize this.
  20. 9er (That may not be an exact figure)
  21. 1.04 reportedly fixes this. It's not a backer beta bug.
  22. If you find a great weapon mod like "restores endurance" and/or increases speed, that weapon might be worth enchanting to superb quality and hanging onto for the entire game.
  23. When will 1.04 up for down? What does that even mean?
