1.06 Hotfix Live on Steam
AndreaColombo replied to BAdler's topic in Pillars of Eternity: Announcements & News
If the devs don't implement a one-time respec for whatever reason (most likely, lack of programming time), you can respec your characters using the "AttributeScore charname attribute value" console command. If you're concerned about achievements and don't want to disable them for the sake of a one-time respec, you can install the IE Mod. Simply installing it (without ticking on any of its menu options) enables you to use console commands without the "IRoll20s" thing that disables achievements. I, for one, welcome the change to Perception for a variety of reasons (no time to elaborate right now but I might do so at a later time.) If Con and Res are also rebalanced (Con for being kind of irrelevant and Res to make up for its being the only deflection stat remaining), things might get seriously interesting at character creation (and min/maxed builds won't necessarily be the best anymore.) BAdler, are there any plans to rebalance Druids' spiritshift in order for it to be mechanically viable throughout the whole game? In my current playthrough, when Hiravias spiritshifts to the Autumn Stelgaer he's accuracy and damage are below what he has in his orlan form and he's just level 5. For a mighty soul-devouring beast, the Autumn Stelgaer ain't that terrifying (which is a shame, 'cause it looks pretty rad) -
When walking alongside a wall, the fog of war clears beyond the wall as well, sometimes revealing enemies of which you should be unaware. SAVED GAME: link. REPRO STEPS: Load the attached saved game. Observe that the door at your left is closed and the room is covered by FOW (it is currently unentered/unexplored.) Further observe, however, that an enemy is visible beyond the wall owing to the party having walked alongside it. (Yeah, this one is as simple as loading the saved game and observing; no need to do anything. Sometimes life is easy )

The quotation mark underlined should be removed. Screenshot. "Long term" should only be hyphenated when it is a composite adjective preceding the noun it refers to. It is not the case in here, so the hyphen should be removed. Screenshot. The first letter after the hyphen shouldn't be capitalized. Screenshot. Not sure what is up with the extra line break between answers 2 and 3? Screenshot The quotation marks underlined should be removed (each screenshot is a different string exhibiting the issue.) Interrupts in 1.06
AndreaColombo replied to fygar666's question in Pillars of Eternity: Technical Support (Spoiler Warning!)
Do those two characters have a Perception score below 10? Interrupt is governed by Perception, and values below 10 apply a penalty to it. -
So I picked up Durance again, this time with the intention of reading carefully through his dialog and fully understand what he's all about. Well, call me thick—I just can't make out most of what he says already from the start. It is not clear to me what he wants from the protagonist, and what he wants from life in general. I get he hates a lot of people, places, and things (the list includes Magran's enemies, Magran's allies, Magran herself, Raedceras, the Aedyr Empire, Watchers, Ciphers, Animancers, Wizards, the Eothasians...) but I don't get what he actually likes. Is there anything he stands for? If yes, what is it? If not, why does he even bother joining the protagonist?

Hi, to clarify, my first test involved a character wielding a sword and nothing else vs. a character wielding a sword and a shield; the second, both characters wielding a sword and the shield Scath Gwannek (but only one of them had the Two Weapon Fighting talent.) I did not test dual wielding vs. single weapon, which is what—I believe—player1 is referring to.
-
Switch recovery penalty would apply normally, too. So ideally I would not equip a shield on a caster. @player1, what do you mean by "slow down primary attack"? Attacking with a weapon + bash shield is the same as attacking with two weapons, except the Two Weapon Fighting talent doesn't provide the extra 20% attack speed.

This jab is ill-placed. Obsidian are not working on the card game; Zero Radius Games are. The documentary was mostly done during development and it was delivered weeks ago—and that's not even considering the fact that the people working on the documentary likely aren't the same as those fixing bugs.

lefreut—How can I see string numbers? Eric—few more typos for your enjoyment missing comma after "well" (every screenshot is of a different string exhibiting the issue.) Screenshot. - Screenshot. - Screenshot. subject missing from the sentence (there should be either a "who" or a "that" where the sentence is underlined.) Screenshot. missing space after the ellipsis in this interjection that Calisca speaks. Screenshot. missing quotation mark where underlined (every screenshot is of a different string exhibiting the issue.) Screenshot. - Screenshot. - Screenshot. quotation mark to be removed where underlined (every screenshot is of a different string exhibiting the issue.) Screenshot. - Screenshot. - Screenshot. misspelled "Madhmr Bridge" as "Madhamr Bridge". Screenshot. missing auxiliary verb (reads, "they would never had any success"; should be, "they would have never had any success"). Screenshot. in these two screenshots, descriptive text does not appear in its typical darker grey color and quotation marks are missing to set it apart from direct speech. Screenshot. - Screenshot.

Still an issue as of 1.6; bumping for visibility. Additional repro steps: Load the saved game. Take a normal weapon with no enchantments, right-click, go to "Enchant" and apply a lash effect to it. Go back to the game and observe the blade now has a graphical effect applied to it. Go to your inventory and observe that the effect is missing. It is worth nothing that unique weapons that already come with a lash effect (e.g. the great sword Temperacl, which comes with a corrosive lash) do display the relevant effect both in-game and in your inventory.

Are physical goods... good?
AndreaColombo replied to Idleray's topic in Pillars of Eternity: General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)
Some of the items were of underwhelming quality, but I personally don't mind. When I pledged, I pledged toward the game's development, not toward receiving physical goods. Those are just extra gravy. What really matters to me is that an isometric party-based RPG with lots of quality writing was released in 2015 and I got to play it. -
I've just done some testing on shields, then searched the forums and found nothing, so I thought I'd share my results. I've created two identical Fighters and equipped them with identical gear. The first thing I wanted to test was whether shields applied a penalty to the wielder's recovery time. The doubt stemmed from a tip during loading screens that says they do, even though no shield mentions that in its description. The test revealed that no penalty to recovery time results from using a shield. I had both Fighters attack the same target, one with just a sword and the other with sword and shield, and they were perfectly synchronized. The second test was to check whether the Bash property, which effectively makes you attack with your shield as though it were a weapon in your off-hand, was affected by the two-weapon fighting talent. To test this, I equipped both Fighters with the same Bash shield and levelled them up, choosing Two Weapon Fighting only for one of them. The results showed that Two Weapon Fighting does NOT apply to Bash. Once again, both Fighters were perfectly synchronized. Hope this helps.

[1.06] Paladin auras bug
AndreaColombo replied to creocoder's question in Pillars of Eternity: Technical Support (Spoiler Warning!)
Anelor—simply turn off the auras before saving the game, and back on when you load it. It will prevent them from growing in size. Bit of manual work, but it's a functional workaround until a patch fixes the issue. -
UI Scaling - blurry font
AndreaColombo replied to Cirventhor's question in Pillars of Eternity: Technical Support (Spoiler Warning!)
I'm playing windowed. Not particularly happy about this, but for the time being that's as good as it gets. -
Yes please If Eric has no time to fix typos himself and we can help him get the fixes in, I'll happily volunteer.

1.06 Paladin Aura Size
AndreaColombo replied to Omnicron's question in Pillars of Eternity: Technical Support (Spoiler Warning!)
Were the auras active when you loaded your game? Loading a game with active auras increases their size; it is a known issue (I generally deactivate auras before saving to avoid it.) -
Speaking of which, Eric's been deafeningly silent of late. Do you know whether any typos have been fixed in 1.06?

So we can expect 1.07 to be a big update in the vein of 1.05?
