Even though all of that is true, all of that doesn't fit with his character type. He remains obnoxious regardless of what he does or thinks. He's just a walking contradiction. lol I don't think that's contradictory. You can be prideful and arrogant but also insecure or depressed, or a genuinely kind and caring person that wants to help. Tekehu isn't so self-absorbed that he can't think or care about others (that would be a disorder). That's one of the things I like about Obsidian's characters. They don't just fit one trope or mold, there's usually more to them. Or a twist on the trope/stereotype you'd expect. It's a lot more human and believable, and a lot less frustrating to read/deal with (from my perspective).

My initial reaction to Tekehu was that he was an obnoxious, arrogant side-character, and I was surprised when I realized he was one of the main companions. But I actually grew to really love him. Yes, he's arrogant and prideful, but he also feels an immense pressure to basically give up his own goals to be whatever the Huana want him to be, and that all makes a ton of sense when you hear how the Huana and its government have treated him. Additionally, Tekehu is actually a very happy, sweet guy and he realizes throughout the game how messed up and flawed the Huana are - via things like the Gullet and the Watershapers' secret dragon soul-sucking. And he genuinely cares about it. I was pleasantly surprised and impressed when we discovered Delver's Row and Tekehu thought, "Yeah, this is smuggling and messed up, but the Gullet kind of needs this." He's a flawed but well-meaning guy, and he's willing to listen and learn from others. That wins me over.

Edér: What happened?
Tick replied to Galagraphia's topic in Pillars of Eternity II: Deadfire Stories (Spoiler Warning!)
I was listening to some of Eder's companion conversations, and there's this actually really sweet bit where he basically says that he doesn't indulge Iselmyr anymore when she's being a jerk about Aloth. It was a cool moment. -
Pallegina Improvements

The seeds of doubt have been planted and are starting to bear fruit, but it's far too late to really do anything with that. Oh that! I did see that, that's what I was thinking of. I thought it was weird because she was so gun-ho up until that point. But it's still cool to see her thinking differently than before. -

Wait, what!? D: I missed this? God dammit. I remember the way she talked to Eothas at the last second wasn't quite as gushing, which I thought was weird, but I had no idea she can actually change her mind. -
Pallegina Improvements
Tick replied to Incendax's topic in Pillars of Eternity II: Deadfire Stories (Spoiler Warning!)
For me, Xoti started passive agressively asking if Pallegina was scared about being dragged into Hel instead of reincarnating lol. \ EDIT: I actually really like your idea about Pallegina and Xoti, though I understand other people's arguments as to why they don't think it could happen. It would be a cool way to make the relationship less 100% antagonistic and flesh out the characters more. But I do think the writing around Pallegina and/or Xoti as characters would have to change more. Especially with Xoti, I think you'd have to be able to actually change her mind some about how great the gods are/if they're inflicting pain on her for no good reason. -
That's really cool to see the other companions reactions too. It would feel weird if they just let it pass. Though it's also weird that they don't leave or potentially leave immediately.

That's hilarious, and kind of interesting. Ty for the link. -
I expect them to fix this and let old companions be a little more resillient when it comes to your decision making. I will edit my save game, otherwise I'll end up turning Eder in for a Skaen doll that is useless. It's not really the issue that it is in the save game as much as how little sense this turnaround makes. It's like we never met and he learned that I raped his sister or something. The reputation system versus the way they talk to you *is* kind of weird. I would expect them to be more distant than the end of the last game, because it sound like they've had no contact with you for five years, but I'd also expect slightly more forgiving behavior. Especially from Eder. At least if you had the right dispositions /made the right choices last game.

Yser of Berath
Tick replied to Archaven's topic in Pillars of Eternity II: Deadfire Stories (Spoiler Warning!)
Oh man I loved watching Eder and Aloth talk to that guy lol. Also just liked the feisty character. Someone will ask you about what you found out down there, but he doesn't have to be alive for that, obviously. -
Portraits III
Tick replied to Amentep's topic in Pillars of Eternity II: Deadfire General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)
I should also mention that if you don't like the end result, you don't have to use it at all. I think some people have the pressure to use the art if it's given to them, and I don't want anyone to feel that way. -
Portraits III

I haven't ever tried to do water color before, but I'm happy to try and do the actual portrait art for you! I can't guarantee quality, but it'll be free. ;p Do you have references I can use or what clothing /equipment would be on the character? -
More soul - universe lore would be fantastic. I absolutely love how everything in the universe works when it comes to souls. The Eothas stuff was awesome! but not super in depth. Also hoping for some existentialist nightmare fuel, if that's the word for it, from Rymrgand. Another unique element from this series, and he's always great at creating that feeling. He represents actual nothingness and entropy in a universe that at first glance seems like it's guaranteed reincarnation. And when it obvious that's not exactly how things works, he's terrifying (in a great way).

Be passionate and benevolent, and nice to her? I remember her being happy with how I resolved the issue with the Gullet family trying to get out, but that might have only been in dialogue and not actually affected rep. She jumped on me after I helped her with her quest, and only a little while after it.

Thank you so much for the responses! :D I really appreciate it. I'll post Fan art fan art in spoilers I guess and try to contribute to the portraits thread without hijacking to do art for other peeps. Lol Deadfire fanart : https://imgur.com/a/pGsF0WY Just kidding. Though I guess I don't usually do that particular kind of fan art.
