  1. Thanks for the update once again. Nearly all of the classes sound interesting, including the fighter and the barbarian. In my opinion the portrait looks superb. F yeah.
  2. "What a wonderful surprise (its been a while since I visited the forum) is the game any good?" Mor: Well a lot of features are still missing but the basics are there and it has potential. The first major update will probably show the directions it's headed. The guys at Bear's pit, especially Shanga have played with the level editor, which seems to be a real asset on the long run. In other words, the game seems to be relatively easy to mod. However, I wouldn't buy the early access for 40 euros, yet. Unless you are super hardcore and want to play with the editor. I happen to be an alpha backer so I play it time to time and report bugs etc. As I said, the first bigger patch should make the game more enjoyable. I'm hopeful that the final product will kick ass.
  3. If I am not mistaken, the chanter is an Aumaua, who are semiaquatic humanoids and have shark-like teeth. edit: I was slow because I tried to find out if both coastal and island aumaua have spiky teeth... I don't think we have heard anything about that. Oh gosh, I want that collector's book, manual and almanac already.
  4. Haven't you watched the Game of Thrones? I hear there's this character called Brienne of Tarth.
  5. Gods, are you quoting myths and folklore? If you took the time to actually read the links I provided, you'd notice that it's not all about myths and folklore... Also, as mentioned before, I have personal experience of women fighting alongside men. Edit: However, women have not been accepted to join the recon or guerrilla forces because they have not passed the physical tests but guerrillas operate behind the frontiles haha.
  6. I don't agree with the distinguishable argument but I do think that the avatars in-game look very good.
  7. The army doesn't need female soldiers that can preform on the borderline, when they have man who can far outstrip them in performance. As for the history, yeah there are women that were participating in wars but they were not on the front lines hacking away with swords. Just something to think about: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_women_warriors_in_folklore, http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Timeline_of_women_in_early_modern_warfare. And at least in the Finnish Defence Forces some women are trained to fight in the front lines. http://www.puolustusvoimat.fi/portal/puolustusvoimat.fi/!ut/p/c5/vZTLjqpAFEW_pT9Aq4o3w-Ipj6IQiufEaGvToiIGBJuvb296cAc311GHs4c756xk7-SAEjzVbIdjte2P12Z7BjkopY22Tplt8hTalBehs0ZMsHwdWYoAMpBDYRPXX60znaaoniIvrk2esGQkhuWReh-SWnOYETns1E2ElZRMlt_XEUFERam1NnGAC5kX3p63yj80m5OUlQuRSj2iQYf6MJX9EOk2fO1D9ONLvOmZgS0gO9QF6MRGorJE5u1EerlPI_nHh_8ZDEEBSvlvGjQODegQ7FicGkBNQID9YhovWd6cLH4-lg5nZHEzsmbsS5-xr3jGvuLf7csF5XF3WY7vlyVcipIiKiqEHKfIgvz8JFlZfD2MzhkNnG7ciFOCViqryHw4GfZv63t2qj893tupB9jmfR-yu0zCxeZ4FStSFfa9F9FHNyQMu0WZ4JxGONdGqWGBRquzF2doesCszz8wVNJ3dzwztG3o2FttOPnVhiuuOBLbljK38VLh1twfi84tcbbYnYI4RcmaDiY9kyHkVrescAcz7-hqv0-VZjx2MghW18sBtJehNaPVlP-jA_4Gkq5Pog!!/dl3/d3/L2dBISEvZ0FBIS9nQSEh/?pcid=2bd7450042b77b00aa0cff433f46c91a I've personally "fought" against women in simulated battles (guerrilas vs military police, most women are enlisted as military police).
  8. So chanters chant nearly all the time during combat? In other words, are the phrases spoken out? Maybe a murmur in the background?
  9. This business with names, Finnish and Josh Sawyer brings me fond memories of Icewind Dale 2 and particularly "the wandering village". Many of villagers had Finnish names such as Jari, Venla, Kyösti etc. and other names sounded Finnish (Suoma, Kurtta etc.) even though they were not actually names used in Finland, well perhaps among the Sami people. I was like what the hell is happening here? Good times!
  10. Not to be overly dismissive, but this is one of the reasons I don't worry a whole lot about what names mean in other languages. I think almost every name that's been revealed has, at some point in time, revealed to be "dog's butt" or "stupid idiot" or "jolly prostitute" in Basque/Hungarian/Lombard/Vietnamese/Esperanto. Really long names can sometimes get around that, but they often wind up being really cumbersome, IMO. Ah, yes of course. I'm aware that (fantasy) names have the potential to mean something wacky in some other language. For example, I believe Lumia as in Nokia's Lumia phones, is a word meaning prostitute in Spanish (although the word is a bit old-ish). I just wanted to let you know. I don't think Kana Rua or Pallegina are bad names and after a while I'm sure I won't even think of them as names containing Finnish. Or maybe I'll just roleplay Kana Rua and think that (s)he really likes the taste of chicken.
  11. Thank you for the update. Interesting stuff. I think I need to try every class and that's great. Spell descriptions sound familiar yet different, good stuff. However, I'm not sure if I like the incantations... Maybe I'll learn to like them. By the way, Kana literally means chicken in Finnish and Pallegina sounds a bit silly/funny. Palle can be translated as "a hem", among other things, although the word is not used very much anymore. Anyway, Kana Rua looks like a jovial chap (and high as f**k). I really enjoy the art in this game. As a side note, the female cleric with her scale mail and all didn't look bad regarding bewbs, even though I'd still prefer consistency. All in all good job, I approve this update.
  12. Ah yes, right you are. I was not totally serious we should continue to argue about all the aforementioned mechanics. Quite frankly I'd rather read/discuss about pizza, coffee, DC Comics vs Marvel etc. Regadring development, I've never played a MMO and probably I'll never play one. That being said, I'm still keeping an open mind. I'm hopeful. About pizza... Someone once said: "Pizza is like sex, even when it's bad it's still pretty good." And rusty water, yuck. I've had my share of that sht.
  13. Uh-Oh, this conversation again! I'm well aware of the benefits of coffee, my girlfriend remembers to remind me how coffee is good for you and all that jazz. Also as a Finn, people often question why I don't drink coffee. I guess I just don't need coffee. If I have to drink something in formal occasions or the like, I prefer (green) tea. As a matter of fact, I've been thinking that maybe I should start drinking green tea more regularly. It's almost a panacea as well. But then again, maybe not. I've been travelling with people who drink coffee or tea and for some reason if they couldn't get their morning coffee/tea, they became really grumpy. No thanks! Maybe I'll just stick to milk Pizza, comics, coffee, tea... We are rather off-topic. Maybe we should continue to argue about balance, boob armor etc in PoE. Adding to that, generally I'm getting really good vibes from the development of PoE but the more I think about it, the more I'd prefer non-b00b armor for females. The plate armor is a good example of this. Consistency, as Grobnir pointed out. However, if they decide to keep the scale armor as it is, it won't matter. I will most probably enjoy PoE immensly in spite of that.
  14. tried coffee once in university to try and keep us awake to study before mid-terms... that were ~25 years ago. we still recall the "flavor." tasted like water run through a rusty pipe multiple times. HA! Good Fun! You're clearly not manly enough for coffee. But... but... I consider myself a manly man but I just don't want to become addicted to coffee/caffeine and the taste is not too good either. My life is in shambles
  15. Wohoo, Lappeenranta for the win! Edit: Also check out the town of Leppävirta ("Alder stream")
  16. Nice little update. Looking very good in my opinion. I have no problem with the female armor even though I usually prefer historically accurate armors and such. Thank you Brandon and Josh for responding to the questions asked by the community. I'm really pleased thus far.
  17. Very much this. Thank you Justin for the thorough description of the process and staying on the forums to respond to feedback. Looking forward to hearing the actual theme music for PoE and of course combat music.
  18. Very impressive! My guess is that most of the money will be used to fund the PoE expansion, as Mor already speculated. I might be totally wrong though. It would be interesting to know the specific numbers (how many backers there are as of now).
  19. Good update, thanks. Btw, hips don't lie. The gul's lack of hip movement looked a bit odd. However, I realize that the camera angle is different in-game etc. I quite liked all the other animations though. Can't wait to get my hands on the artbook etc and of course play the game Already looking forward to the next update, as always.
  20. Thank you for the update. The druid and wizard sound really good. I don't know which class to pick... they're all so interesting. Also the portraits look very good as well as the inn. Can't wait...
  21. Thank you once again for the update. I think it was very funny, way to go Eric! The art looks fantastic and I like the take on the undead. Can't wait to play P(o)E!
