  1. Honestly, if you sit down with Excel .... you can learn a lot from this thread. Still trying to figure out who the 3 other designers are.... I wonder if they're going to be mid-level designers.... :D
  2. If it's feasible and easy to do, that would be cool.
  3. I do think that sometimes, very rarely, a point might be made that the devs hadn't yet considered. That's the main value I see in these topics. I don't look at them as "polls trying to influence the devs" as much as "what does the community find to be important?"
  4. Yeah, I don't really see this being a huge issue. The industrial revolution hasn't happened yet.
  5. I disagree. I think a lot of the older gamers who coded in their basements didn't really think that their gamse would make them millions. They made it for the love of the game. And a lot of times, it showed.
  6. Yeah I don't have a problem with kiting or pulling as the exception. But not as the rule. Even the mongols were successful because this wasn't the rule in combat and because they have vast hordes of horsemen. Kiting isn't a cheese tactic in and of itself. It can just become a cheese tactic when it works in every scenario.
  7. I wouldn't want ingrdients to be a common need for common spells, like fireball. But something like resurrection (which i know doesn't exist in P:E; it's just an example) or "time stop" night be nice to need ingredients. But I guess you could do the same with scrolls...
  8. You guys should look at the game Darklands. It's historically based and it has single-shot guns in the game. It's actually a pretty interesting take on this fantasy theme. Josh always talks about it too, so I'm sure it's been an influence on him.
  9. It would be nice to have a "historical society" tryign to fix ruins so they can last through "the next generation so they can benefit from our rich history." Just something that isn't all so fantastical and crazy. Sometimes low key is nice.
  10. In D&D, resurrection needed diamonds. Some other games made spells require ingredients as a general rule. In P:E, what do you guys think about some higher level spells requiring ingredients? Or lower-level spells requiring ingredients? Middle-level spells? All spells? Any spells? Perhaps these ingredients are similar ingredients used in enchanting or crafting. Maybe not. What do you think?
  11. Was waiting for this... I don't want them to implement 4e. But you can always take from ideas that you like and let them inspire you. If they implemented 4e then they'd have licensing problems anyway
  12. Anyone see District 9 the movie? Those guys were cool. Locusts but humanoid...
  13. Vendigroth Ruins (arcanum) was cool. It told a story of its own with just the items found in the ruins. You understood what happened there without anyone having to read dialogue.
  14. Personally I worry about a bloodied skin really standing out in the middle of combat with attacks and spell effects flying about. Also I think it would probably still be a lot of work to do that for each and every monster type in the game. I'm not against it persay, but if they did go that route I'd probably want it in addition to another way to tell their health level as blood on the clothing might be a bit too vague for my tastes. But I'm all for the second half if they can fit it in. I like it when in skyrim people comment on you looking sick or shop keepers tell you to get out if you're not wearing any clothes. Having NPCs react to your condition in dialogue would be a nice bit of flavor. Even if it was just limited to shouts while walking around town where NPCs you pass close to would have something like, 'hey you really don't look so good, you should get yourself to a healer' pop up over their heads it would be a welcome addition. "Why the hell are you on fire?! Get out of my store!"
  15. I would also vote no. But then you should also worry about fast creatures like we worry about creatures with range. It would be a nice mix up of AI that makes the game fun. We can always think of goblins as weak cratures not because they're low-level, but because their AI sucks. Then hobgoblins are both higher-level and more tactical. that would be fun! Mix it up!
  16. then you make a "dynamic" AI, that has some sort of timer. If he doesn't reach an enemy in like 10 seconds, he switches strategies. He starts just following one person. I mean at the point where you've got 6 people on 1 guy, you can do all sorts of tactics to kill him. He's dead anyway. He might just run away which could be another strategy.
  17. Honestly, I think Arcanum was kind of on the right track with this. My HP did increase (especially with one certain place where you get 100 HP near the end-game) but not ridiculously so. Even at level 50, if I didn't have a party, I still was afraid of 3 or 4 were-rats (Level 20-30). They could kill me in 3-4 rounds with well-placed hits. It was always dangerous to fight some enemies.
  18. They probably aren't going to be too beastial. See the Orlans/Aumaua thread. We did have a "spider-based" race in D&D - they were the drow. But in general, yeah I would like the concepts for these races (orlan and aumaua) to be inffluenced by different animals. It would also be nice to have some races that might not be playable, but to be in-world. Maybe they become playable races later (in the other games, e.g. P:E 2).
  19. These are some freaking awesome birds. Check them out. It starts at 0:39. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VafyjaZPAME&NR=1&feature=endscreen
  20. I don't mind females being "bigger" in a race. What if this is a matriarchal society? That would be very different. Drow are the only race that I can think of with a matriarchal society and they're evil. Usually the males are more colorful too as they try to "impress" the females. Peaco.cks/peahen are an example. Look at this guy: What if the aumaua were birdfolk? We don't see them often. http://katnicoleb.bl...ird-people.html http://co.perfectwor.../news/?p=579661 It wuold be freaking cool to have some race like the tragopan satyra (the video shown above) with a Samoan culture-vibe.
  21. I feel like you shouldn't know the exact HP of any enemy unless you have some sort of divination magic or something. But yeah the crippled/winded thing is nice. I just realized you could possibly have two statuses: one based on stamina and one on health.
  22. In D&D 4e, there is a status called "bloodied" where you or your enemies have less than 50% of your hitpoints. It is interesting because it gives you an idea of how much health your enemies have, as well as causing different bonuses or maluses to enemies attacking bloodied creatures. From an animation perspective, it helps you know who's more likely to die too. Wondering if this is something OEI might do from an animation perspective or mechanical one too.
  23. This isn't medieval Europe. This is Glanfanthan. Vailians are afro-italians. Sagani isn't "European" white.
