  1. You do realize this is a 4M production, right? Not a 100M production. Of course cost will be a pointer. How much of that 4M do you want for merely VO? I rather have it spend on the proper places. Since in current game-land, it's not much... Not much, however even lots of voice acting is a tiny cost in a $4 million budget for this type of game. If they were making a first person RPG where you see the characters mouths the whole time they were speaking, it would be a different story, but all they have to do is record some voice and accompany it with the text so it takes hours and hours less work.
  2. I actually agree with their decision - but I highly doubt it is because of the cost, and more likely because any more than a line or two people end up skipping, all it needs to do is set the mood of the character, it's much easier to create a deep story with written text, and it can be changed last minute without a fuss.
  3. I don't understand why voice acting costs a lot? I am not in the video games industry however I am in sound production and the actual recording and editing of voice would be very cheap relative to other parts of their budget, even if there was hours and hours of it all up. Since it is an isometric RPG they wouldn't have to spend hours making sure the audio matches the mouth like in a life-like AAA game. All the dialogue has to be written anyway, so I can only assume voice actors get paid a ridiculous amount? All the voice is required to do is set a mood for the character in question, I don't think big name voice acting is necessary. I'm sure there would be some fans that would have the skills and do it for free even, or small name actors around that they could use. There would surely be actors that could do large amounts of characters on their own. At the end of the day I only like a couple lines at most to be voiced, definitely not all their dialogue as I end up skipping it anyway.
  4. Didn't want to start a new thread, but I got the boxed edition but added more money for some addons, have we had the chance to tell them what they were yet??? I thought they said a survery would be sent out when it finished but I never received it
  5. It will be kind of awkward marketing-wise to go from Project Eternity to something else down the road I think maybe it will just be Eternity
  6. Just don't play the beta. There's absolutely no point if you don't want to spoil it for yourself, they'll have plenty of other people to give feedback on it.
  7. I just don't want it to be too easy to get rich. You shouldn't be able to run through just the main quest and still get rich. I hope to be able to afford good gear/lots of reserve potions etc you should have to do lots of side quests in each town. And I don't want the solution to just be put some optional gold sinks in the game, I want it to be hard to get gold in the first place.
  8. Just like Arcanum. If you have to go somewhere you can ask around and someone marks the location on your map. Once you get there you have to ask where to find the specific person/location or just search yourself. I assume that's what they're putting in this game.
  9. The levels wont necessarily be all combat I guess. There could be several levels where you just pick up a few quests for the lower levels then move on, taking only 10-15 minutes to explore. 15 levels doesn't necessarily mean 15 levels of huge 2 hour long combat sessions on every level, right?
  10. Yes some time in the next 12 hours they will probably update us and be more specific about the totals. Time to just wait!
  11. I just assumed it means make it more polished all round. More detail in backgrounds that they might not have been able to put in, more variation in enemies, more NPC's in the cities, more sidequests, plus the commentary and music they talked about.
  12. Do you think this dungeon will be a major part of the game? Involving storyline and be necessary to go through? I don't like the idea of having to go down a 14 level dungeon to continue in the main story, I hope it's just for grinding xp and money/boredem killer.
  13. So long as it's not an underground city I'll be cool with it. I always like the look of log buildings in iso games, maybe a whole log building city? lol
  14. I do and I don't like it... in theory it'll make death more meaningful and combat more fun (because of the risk)...but nearly everyone will just end up quick saving and loading a whole lot more so it'll be redundant
  15. Just depends how well it's made, how personally motivated you are to find out how the story ends and how engaging the world is. If a game was good enough it could be 80 hours long and still feel too short. We'll just have to wait and see.
  16. I would be more surprised if it doesn't make it now. A week ago I would've said it'd get $3 million max. What do you think they'd do if it fell like...$500 short of $3.5 million? lol
  17. The DA UI is simple and doesn't get in the way but I also find it pretty ugly. I'd prefer something like the old school games over that.
  18. The Britannia map looks horrible, lets hope PE's one doesn't get changed to anything similar to that.
  19. Might even go for $140 now instead of $65. There's gonna be a lot of disappointment if they don't reach that goal haha, especially if it's very close.
  20. This was pretty much the only thing left that I really wanted...another big urban area in the game. Lets hope it happens. I'll be pledging more than I had planned now.
  21. A tier with just the map+collectors edition. Kinda want it but not willing to pay $140 when I don't want the other stuff. Will probably go for the $65 one in the end
  22. I agree about realistic/sensible armour. For the best weapons/special quest weapons I think they should be over the top big and elaborate, it is a fantasy game and not real life after all, but for the majority of weapons a more simple look is good I guess. I haven't really kept up to speed, is that actually happening???
  23. Exactly what I want. More content, more regions, deeper story and side quests. Do Kickstarters normally pick up their pace right at the end? Because it doesn't seem that it'll even make $3 million at the moment
  24. I think it would be a very bad idea to have no live recorded music at all. Sure it will take some funds but I get the feeling some people are over-estimating how much it would cost. A recording studio hire and a small ensemble of experienced musicians would certainly cost a bit but it's not some huge cost that will severely impact the rest of the development at all.
