  1. Yes, I truly wonder why he doesn't post here anymore. Game devs don't have time for mere peasants like us
  2. Great presentation, getting more and more hyped for the game now. There is some damn nice looking backgrounds in this game (best of any iso RPG yet) and I have grown to be a fan of those "text adventure" type things almost to the point of wanting more of them in the game. I would have to agree with what some other people said, when you do these presentations have someone play the game that is an 'expert' at it. It's a bit awkward having someone up on stage playing it that isn't very good...
  3. Very nice. Looks like they finally realized how ****ty rtwp is
  4. People not actually sitting at tables is one of the most jarring "immersion" things, any word if they're gonna fix that? Or are beings in this universe unable to sit?
  5. I want to wait until more patches because I don't think it'll be ready until 2-3 months after release, but guaranteed I'll be playing on release day....
  6. They just need to slow the entire game down slightly, the movement/combat, everything
  7. Not just too intense, too fake lol. Just get someone to go record crickets outside the office when you're polishing bugs at 3am in crunch time lol
  8. Yeah but I'd rather be lazy and have a built in system lol. Considering the characters are 3D and portraits don't look anything like most of the characters people make it'd be nice to have a portrait maker thing in the base game. Think Wasteland did this
  9. Wish there was a way to take a portrait of the character you make, never liked these painted ones. I know I'm a heathen etc etc But with the normal portraits, I do hope there is at least double what the backer beta has, at release
  10. Lets hope so, rain would look lovely in some of the environments they've made
  11. The 3D characters look nice to me now, I don't think that's an issue. The game is way too fast though, slightly faster than slow mode is where it needs to be...it looked like fast forward in the stream
  12. I asked Brandon about it and unfortunately the sliders are unlikely to be implemented for this release. Maybe in a patch or expansion. what the hell? why iset that somthing that they whould be in the first build i mean that seems like standerd stuff??? Its getting to the point where they can't delay the game any longer even if maybe they should
  13. I don't know why, but I prefer having a solid bar across the bottom. I don't really like small separate windows with the game in between them. Having a solid background ties it all together I guess
  14. I just try the beta again and I gotta say, the AI really is terrible. I hope it is not the final game. One guy was just standing stuck behind one of my guys because he was wanting to attack someone further away... I find the game is pretty hard even on easy, in the backer beta. But it looked easy for Josh on hard in the stream. Maybe I just suck, but I barely finish any fight. Maybe it will be alright once i start from beginning of the game
  15. Hi, just starting the backer beta again. I find it irritating that we still have this portrait selection. Clicking through and viewing one at a time is not a good design. By the time you get through all of them you forget what the earlier ones look like exactly, it makes it hard to compare and pick which one you like the most. Especially as they add more in, and you have a bunch of custom ones (which is quite popular with these games) A grid system would be much better. The ability to view them all at once, easily compare and then click what you like. Possibly even categorized into race in the grid. There is plenty of screen space on both sides on the character model to do this
  16. I would like an AoE loot option (like a 10 yard circle or whatever.) I don't see how having to loot 8 separate corpses after a fight adds anything to the game. I didn't actually mind the stash noise though, just a little loud, but they are still working on sound. The stream has me way more excited for the game than I thought I'd be. My only real complaints now are how average and sometimes just bad most of the sound design is. The rest of the game impressed me in general. I think my favorite part watching (aside from those awesome backgrounds) was the whole being knocked out during fights, rather than just instantly dying. I think this will cut down the amount of quickloading and make the game flow a lot nicer than these iso RPG's typically do.
  17. I think the cities need a bit more going on, a few domestic animals here and there, more ambient noises, more random peasants and guards...also some of the sound effects sound terrible, like the crickets in the night scene from the long stream. I would have to turn the volume off if I spent more than 20 seconds out there. Same thing with the birds in the backer beta. Hopefully audio is something they're working on late and most of the sounds we heard are just placeholder. Then when there's some good sounds they are often incorrect levels. You have to turn up the effects master to hear the ambient sounds inside a building say, but when you go back outside the sounds are way too loud and you have to adjust the master again. Definitely need some consistency of sound level between all the areas Also find it awkward how there's someone playing the music in the inn but they're not even holding an instrument...and no NPC's are sitting at the tables, all just standing around. I haven't played it for a while so not sure if that's changed.
  18. And why? For me it ends up being too messy and chaotic and doesn't flow nicely. The IE games were alright but Eternity is 10x worse at the moment. I'm sure they will improve it greatly by release but we'll see. The stop start stop start nature irritates me. I'll send a character to do something while paused and they'll get stuck halfway there on un-pause, or an enemy will move, or someone else will block their way, then I have to pause again to fix it, and by that point another character is being beat on so you have to take care of that and so on. I much prefer being able to think through a nice tactic for 1 guy without disturbance (and plan ahead for others) have him play out his move, and then see what the enemy does afterwards. Everything happening at once in a party of 5 or 6 with another 5 or 6+ enemies gets crazy and I have to pause too often to not die. Anything real time is far better suited to only playing one character imo. I also much prefer the action-point system and unlimited use of whatever ability provided you have the action points available, over a system where some stuff can only be used once in a fight or without resting. I just hate that limitation, if I'm a bad ass mage I should be able to use a spell more than once without taking a nap And why do you like real time with pause more? (if you do?) I'm surprised so many people liked it, before I read forums and the like I always just assumed it would've been what people disliked about the IE games but it's proven to be very popular with the hardcore fan base!
  19. I played all the IE stuff. It was mainly about the story, atmosphere and the world for me. I think real time with pause is terrible but everything else in the games was good enough for me to keep playing, and I'm sure this game will be the same, so it isn't weird to try it out anyway. It'll be a solid RPG. Even a completely stock-standard turn based system like the one you can turn on in Arcanum is far better imo. Then I got spoiled by Divinity recently and can't stand the combat in the Eternity backer beta, but once again I'm sure I'll finish it either way. I'm just glad Torment is at least turn-based
  20. I found the sounds themselves nice, and they've made them less repetitive than they were at first. One problem I found though was I turned down the effects so the birds chirping were at a nice level then in the inn I couldn't hear the fire/chatter at all and had to turn it back up, then down again outside. There were quite a few level balancing issues but the sounds themselves were pleasant
