  1. I want it to be turn based. Never been a fan of the real time with pause, probably one of the only things I don't like about the old infinity engine stuff. If they were all turn based they're be 10/10 games for me but being real time with pause is the -0.1 lol. It just felt chaotic and unorganised for me personally. Definitely a bit more fast paced if that's what you like
  2. For 99% it's the latter. Exactly my point, I question if people REALLY restart an game after spending 50 hours + playing just because they got killed. This would be the ultimate exercise in futility for me It would be pretty fun to do that but only once...and I feel like it'd work better in something like MOrrowind, I always die so easily in infinity engine games
  3. They said it was a thanksgiving thing so if it doesn't happen until weeks after that'd be a bit weird
  4. I think they are releasing it closer to end of November at Thanksgiving at least that's what the last update made it sound like Bit harsh on the guy suggesting cooking, sounds fun to me lol
  5. Vampire Bloodlines did this and that was the best XP system I've seen in a game, but I suppose that was only because every single quest in the game was worth it and fun. What it did was it allowed the developers to not have to add in enemies for no reason just so we could grind them, and it promoted exploration to find all the quests. PE will probably have more quests all up so it might be harder to pull off, but I usually prefer the XP from quests only route.
  6. I'm nervous about seeing how the characters look in the world. In those old isometric RPG's I felt like the characters didn't really fit with the rest of the graphics, they looked a bit out of place and moved weirdly. Also when you click to move in BG (not sure about the others, haven't played them in a while) the characters always stop for a second then move - if this happens in Project Eternity it will annoy me so much. Hopefully the movement is much smoother and more visually pleasing than the old ones.
  7. I think the Stronghold could look more dilapidated when you arrive than it does in the screenshot, but we don't know if this is the worst it'll look do we? So could be that they have it looking even worse than in the SS. I agree that it doesn't need to be bigger or have better walls though. Armies aren't gonna be invading this place, it's just to give the guards a higher view and stop people being able to just walk in whenever.
  8. In this update it says the big update is coming soon, and part of it will be the backer site. Then it also says, about the site: "On the right there is our “Game” section of the site, where over the coming months more information and art about the various races, classes, characters, critters, and locations of interest in the game can be found." I'm gonna guess when they put the site up there will already be lots of information on it that we haven't seen before about the characters and abilities etc, then more will be added later on
  9. I am also wondering about this, but I think that just maybe it isn't yet released and this is only a preview It is. Backer site will be part of the big update. I can see loads of people complaining if the big update ends up only being the backer site and not gameplay video haha
  10. Valid question. Iso RPG's don't tend to have mounts that'll let you move faster, could be cool.
  11. Of course story is paramount. It's also not mutually exclusive to dungeons. The trick to making a dungeon memorable is to give it a good story. A story that ends up being just as compelling as the combat itself. And when they pull that off, there's nothing better in all of gaming. Often times though, developers fail. Even the dungeons in the IE games were hit-and-miss in that regard. But.... Durlag's Tower, for example. That was one of the times that they hit it out of the park! It dripped with story and combat. To the point where I was more interested in it than I was for the main game's plot. That's what I want from PE's Mega Dungeon. Yeah hopefully they nail it. As far as isometric RPG's go or even any RPG's in general, there are far more boring long dungeons than there are good ones so I guess we'll see
  12. They'd have to be really f***ing stupid to hype us up for a cool update in the near future they had gone bankrupt or had to cancel the game. There's absolutely nothing to worry about.
  13. Don't like that the huge dungeon was such a big thing that'll obviously take some good development time. The only thing I hate about these isometric RPG's is having to troll through even a 2 level dungeon/cave of some sort, the combat is just filler to level up all I care about is the story and getting what I need from the dungeon.
  14. Ok fair enoguh. Well I agree with you that the lack of community backer site and communication on that matter is pretty annoying, but I really think the "can't talk about it" in this particular post is just because it's a secret they are building hype for. There's no point communicating with us now about what it is when it obviously isn't ready to be shown yet.
  15. You seem to be angry that they "can't" talk about the special update coming in the near future - that is because it's a surprise, of course they're not going to just spoil it now and then release the update in the coming weeks. I think you've just misunderstood "can't talk about it" as "under some sort of contract to keep quiet" They surely are just building suspense for a gameplay video update
  16. Wait what exactly are you upset about? I am getting annoyed that there isn't a backer website up yet as our money was involved, but is there something else wrong? I don't see a problem with no update this week. Big deal, it's to get people excited for a bigger update soon and no one should have ever expected them to have an update every single week of development (even if they said they would (?), that's unrealistic) Having no publisher doesn't mean they are just going to tell us every little thing about the game and have no surprises along the way
  17. Maybe it takes quite long to upgrade it. Also sounds like something you'll be wanting to work on all the time, an actual key part of the game, so it'd be pointless to not add it in until late in the game.
  18. I want to chime in with these two chaps. Great update, the Stronghold sounds exciting :D the notification business is really the only thing that made me raise a curious eyebrow a la "How will this be handled?". Maybe they have mobile phones in the PE world
  19. When I heard about the stronghold I wasn't very excited. Figured it would just be a tacked on money sink, somewhere where you can rest, store your stuff and upgrade to look prettier. Nice to know it is a lot more. My favourite parts are the prisoner mechanic and random guests showing up that might want to pay to get someone out. Also I haven't followed the project in quite a while, have they made a way for backers to choose their "rewards" yet?
  20. Quality recordings/editing would cost nothing in 2013 compared to before 1999.
