  1. I noticed something in the E3 video Adam narrated in the last update that, if true, I strongly support. It looked as though Full Attack abilities hit twice. Specifically, Barbaric Blow struck twice when the PC had the Exceptional Poleaxe equipped, just like they did while dual wielding. Anyone feel like double checking other characters too, maybe Éder with his single sabre? If this is indeed the case, I greatly welcome it. Feels as though it'd bring a bit more parity of weapon styles to the table, especially for classes like the Barbarian, Monk, and Rogue.
  2. Just posting to make sure people read this. It'd be lovely if this stuff was fixed in Deadfire.
  3. I'd love to see a Sharp two-handed weapon, and a two-handed flail. Overall though, I trust Obsidian to add what they feel best. Re-skinning existing items, the way they did the Xaurip spears etc would be a nice way to add a lot of variety too. And variety is nice.
  4. You'll all be happy to know that: 1) Fulvano's journey is at an end. (And I believe the Reddit AMA said they're spread out all over the Deadfire, not clustered as they look on the map. 2) He goes to the Eastern Reach. So it might just have been his body we found after all.
  5. Currently doing a Pale Elf Monk run I might import. Also considering a Fighter run before the release which I'd consider importing.
  6. What Tigranes said. And honestly, I think F:NV is one of the best designed games ever.
  7. So this is technically not the right forum, as I'm not asking for combat strategy advice, but quest advancement advice. More directly, what are the minimum triggers for getting these two quests to advance? I want to travel as little as I can with either Durance or Grieving Mother, but I also want to complete their quests. So, what's the easiest way to do so? I realize I need to reach Act 3 and I'll need to complete Teir Evron for Durance. I've done both quests before, but I kept both of them with me the entire game then.
  8. So because of Deadfire I've fired of PoE1 again. Making my Watcher, deciding on a Pale Elf. And there are so. Few. Portraits. Especially for female Pale Elves. There's literally two. Coastal Aumauas have it worse, with a single female portrait. So please, in Deadfire, give us tons of new portraits for the races unique to Eora. We can easily find a bajilion portraits for Humans or Dwarves. It's rough finding Pale Elf or Aumaua portraits.
  9. If I understand things right, there's $800.000 in investment funds still not fully processed, and thus not included in the current Fig campaign total. If true, that means the current campaign funding value is at $3.6 million, way past the next stretch goal, which is highly likely to be the 8th companion.
  10. So I'm feeling the PoE bug pretty hard right now. Deadfire and all that. So obviously I have to run through the game, the White March and the whole shebang. I'm thinking either knife-fighter Barbarian, which I feel I've a decent grasp on, or a two-handed Monk, which I need some advice for. A few things: 1) I'm not using Blade of the Endless Paths on the Monk. I'm set on that estoc going to Pallegina. Sub-optimal, sure, but nonetheless. So probably Tidefall. Maybe Hours of St. Rumbault? 2) No Torment's Reach. I find the animation stupid with a two-hander. Why would I do a double jump-kick when I could just smack the with four feet of sharp steel? I'm thinking something along the lines of Swift Strikes, Turning Wheel, Iron Wheel, Duality of Mortal Presence, Crucible of Suffering, and Flagellant's Path (too awesome not to use). Idea is to stack Wounds, get awesome as I get hit and kill dudes faster. Duality and Crucible will let me survive CC easier. Result seems kinda low-micro, and I wouldn't mind medium-micro. Any items, talents, or abilities I should keep in mind? Stat suggestions etc? Give me what you've got. Oh, and finally, I'm interested in how to make a two-handed Monk great, not in how much better dual-wield or sword n' board is. So try to refrain from talking about that.
  11. I gotta say, wasn't a fan of these efforts. Then I saw that Boar Druid Boerer posted. Suddenly, I'm all in on the DCRF.
  12. As I read the new PEN system, all weapons have a damage range and a PEN value. All armor has an Armor Rating. Whenever hit, PEN is compared to AR. If PEN<AR, you do 30% damage. If AR<PEN<2xAR then you do 100% damage. If 2xAR<PEN you do 130% damage. DR (AR) never applies to damage, it only ever compares to PEN. So you cannot get through high AR simply by having high damage, the way you can in PoE. You MUST have sufficient PEN in order to do more than 30% damage.
  13. If they make him a Druid/Chanter they have all classes covered. So I'm guessing he's a Huana type Godlike Druid/Chanter.
  14. Ok ok, cool info about relationships, the two companions, whatever. Can we agree the most important part of the update was the art of the shirtless Moon (?) Godlike? Need to know more. Now. Why do you do this Obsidian?
  15. The way I read that was that all buffs give you an Inspirations. Maybe Modals are an exception, I don't know. But to me it seems clear that all buffs are Inspirations, all debuffs are Afflictions.
  16. I'm pretty sure all buffs are replaced with Inspirations and all debuffs are replaced by Afflictions. So "good old buffs and debuffs" are out as far as I understand it.
  17. -snip- Also can you people please please send me a portal to your alternate universe where fantasy fiction is dominated by awesome masculine women and the dainty elf lady trope is dead forever? Thanks. Dear god, please do send us this portal. The dainty elf lady trope is the ****tiest, boringest, worstest trope in fantasy fiction. Let all women always be Brienne of Tarth or the like. It'd be refreshing as all hell.
  18. I'm confused. When I first read it I thought they meant achievements gained in PoE1. Upon rereading it seems like it's achievements in PoE2. If it's PoE1 I imagine it's things like Adventure Hall companions. If not, it'll probably just let you story-break some companions. I'm cool with either, just confused.
  19. Little reason for them to do a Linux version, but they did that. What ^ said. Also, goodwill. There's no real goodwill or added customer-base to be had in mobile, there is in Linux.
  20. There are plenty of market research clearly showing that the PC market is a separate market from the mobile gaming market. Trying to get in on the cake by going from one to the other isn't a viable business decision for companies who wish to keep producing AAA content. Any such moves require new divisions/companies built around a new platform. So your question is basically moot from a business perspective. (Though bear in mind that not all execs are necessarily great at their jobs and have made similar bad decisions in the past) I'd also like to point out that the Surface Pro runs a full version of Windows. It is functionally a Windows PC with added functionality, whereas tablets tend to run less or simply different OSes altogether. So again, not a good comparison. All in all: little reason for Obsidian to try and put Deadfire on tablets/mobile, from either business or tech perspective. Doubtful they will.
  21. Worth pointing out that Josh mentioned he wanted a "tiered" system for determining story states from PoE1. From the very basic "Let me dive into this game now" all the way to "I want to pick states for literally everything" and maybe something in between. So I feel as though replaying the game won't require replaying PoE1 quite as much.
  22. In the recent stream (and I guess elsewhere too) Josh mentioned that the default combat speed is going to be where Slow Mode is at in PoE1, and Fast Mode where Normal speed is at. I think this is a huge mistake. I should preface this by saying that I do pause a lot. Occasionally a few times a second. It's rare for my encounters to last a full minute in-game time. I guess some of the harder fights are the clearest exceptions. Anyway, my main point is related to attack speed. Mostly that it's too slow as is. Recoveries for attacks, be they ranged or melee, feel far too long. When I can get those recoveries down to 1.5-2 seconds combat feels so much better and so much more interesting. Whereas at 4 seconds, my fighter is a lot less interesting, as he can't really do anything else. The counter argument I've seen is that the screen becomes too busy at higher speeds. Too many effects going off at once, it becomes too difficult to make intuitive calls and judgments on the progress of the fight. I absolutely buy this. It's also tangential at best to my point. In fact, I feel spell recoveries could probably afford to be a bit longer and things would still feel fine. Given the amount of times I used the word "feel" in the above post, this is clearly a subjective subject. I'm curious to hear the community's thoughts on it.
