DocDoomII replied to Arctic's topic in Pillars of Eternity: General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)
Specifically about them loosing the sound preset. The clearly have changed something on the sound department to fix the problem. -
New update on steam [566.3mb] ?
DocDoomII replied to Duncan's topic in Pillars of Eternity: General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)
No, companion had their base stats changed. But that is not retroactive. Only the bugged stats are fixed retroactively. -

So, no info on what it does? -
The combat system is terrible...
DocDoomII replied to Zherot's topic in Pillars of Eternity: General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)
If you want "story story story" games why don't you play TellTale games? -
Just a suggestion. Wild font sizes and colors make your posts a pain in the ass to read.

The combat system is terrible...
DocDoomII replied to Zherot's topic in Pillars of Eternity: General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)
Haven't tried DA:I, but both DA:O and DA2 combat is terrible because you have infinite everything, and everything regenerates. And you drink potions to no end. DA:O is just slightly better because it doesn't aesthetically look like a children copy of a jrpg game. In PoE I have finished the first chapter (then stopped to wait for a few bugs to be fixed) at hard, and I never used potions (didn't even incur in the stacking stats bug). So, yeah, you just need to learn to manage your characters. -
Because this is an old school game that doesn't use regeneration for everything like modern games do.

These threads are getting more frequent than the ones about the permanent stats bonus bug pre 1.02. -
The Custom Portraits Thread
DocDoomII replied to Namutree's topic in Pillars of Eternity: General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)
If it works anything like the old IE games, the missing portrait would be replaced with a default placeholder. In BG it was a silhouette with a ? in the middle. -

Not to be a party pooper, but there's already a 20something pages thread NOT locked about the limerick. Just use that instead. -

They already posted the update on the Kickstarter page - It frankly reads like the word of a politicial. I'm sure you can find a quote of the entire thing here. Seems good to me. It's pr speech just because some idiot blew it out of proportion, and now Obsidian feels like they need to cover their ass. That standard procedure. I'm OK with it. -

Gee. Thanks. I'll try to avoid making that mistake again. Hope you enjoyed the game! Didn't mean to insult. It's phrased a bit lame-y (it's 2:30 am here), the waste was supposedly related to the ability to get some words in the game under the form of epitaph. It's seems very silly to me. And pretty useless. The 500$ that went to pay the guys who made the game are much welcome. -

They already said that the issue will be addressed in the next community update. Which I suppose means blog entry. -
OT: Baldurs Gate question
DocDoomII replied to Chep's topic in Pillars of Eternity: General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)
I still suggest the characters fix/tweaks pack for BG2. It has interesting stuff, IIRC, such as fixing Imoen multiclass. -

It's a type of poem with that specific rhyme scheme he used. Limericks are the ones that are like "There once was a man from nantucket, blah blah blah blah bucket...," then two lines that don't need to rhyme, followed by the last one rhyming with the first two. I see, thanks. I assure you it's not that famous. -

Well said. I imagine when their attention was brought to the limerick and they thought about how a transgender or homosexual might take it they thought it was something they'd rather not have in their game. The reactions of people on these forums is downright bizarre to me. They're acting like actual game content was changed or something. Because it was actual game content? No it's not. It just random garbage writtend by someone that had 500$ to waste. Him/her and all the others. -

Can I say that after something like 60 combined pages of discussion, I still have no f-ing clue about what a limerick is? -
OT: Baldurs Gate question
DocDoomII replied to Chep's topic in Pillars of Eternity: General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)
Unmodded games would use the character asset present in the installation files. So BGII Jaheira would be the BGII version. Only your character gets imported, together with some equipment and some crucial items (who said golden pants?). -

Now, I have nothing against calling a transgender (male->female) she, but she is still a he until science will be able to create a process that change them at genetic level. Or should I start thinking of Michael Jackson as caucasian* to not incur in misracing him? I know that caucasian is not the correct term for white people, but it's the most commonly used anyway. -

TBH the mistake was made at the very beginning, giving the opportunity to a third party (backers) to put content into the game. And all of you screaming for artistic integrity should also remember that none of this is content created by the developers, but by a third party.
