You really feel that? I think literally every other 2H in the game is better than WotEP now. That puny damage really doesn't work against single-targets, which is what matters (melee guys aren't really crowd controllers.) The same character with BotEP likely out-DPS WotEP with ease. If you manage to hit two enemy with WotEP, it does almost same damage as other 2h swords. But the shining point is you can put affliction on anyone u hit. And with good mobility I’m able to hit 3 enemy usually. And the riposte is really good if u r a paladin/wizard who has high deflection. Riposte might not be so good after patch, I have to test it in the game now In my previous playthrough, I did a paladin/rogue build who heavily rely on escape and WotEP, with high INT I’m using escape like a mini version of Arcane Veil, and relocate myself to find as many enemy as possible to hit with the sword. If u wanna hit me? Sorry I have double riposte which can deal some serious damage. The damage is low at beginning but once I get Deep Wounds, it become very decent because my attack + riposte triggers a lot raw DoT ticks. Also that WotEP per encounter ability is really good for backstabbing try it and u will be surprised. So basically I have good AOE, and some optional single target burst damage without switching weapon. I hate to swap weapon without quick switch honestly, so sad only fighter can access to it :/

Concelhaut's Crushng Doom is bugged right now, it doesn't benefit from Power level, if this is fixed I think it can be a very good CC/damage spell.

All stuff people were constantly and vocally complaining about. I've seen people rage-quit because the +5% damage from Baubles of the Fin made them cut through enemies like a knife through butter. With the already criminally slow average recovery time at 4s, it was of utmost importance to reduce speed/recovery buffs—especially Swift Strikes and its upgrades from 20% to 15% because, frankly, that insane attack speed was breaking everybody's game. The Chanter nerf, however, is the real winner. Problem: Brilliant Inspiration is too powerful. Solution: Leave Brilliant untouched. Remove the only source of Brilliant in the game. That Brilliant was created and implemented for nothing is but a minor side effect. Nerf the Chanter phrase so that it becomes unnecessarily bland and weak for its Power Level, granting three tier 1 Inspirations that most other classes can already access in spades at much lower power levels. Now the invocation is useless, and Brilliant is still broken (but unavailable.) Very, very good design. Maybe it's just because they haven't come to a good solution to change Brilliant, so a quick fix is removing it from the game. I don't think this is a design issue, but just a quick fix for current game..

It's worth noting that Raw damage is a lot less powerful in Deadfire than it was in Pillars. In Pillars Raw damage (almost) always did more damage in comparison to non-Raw damage due to there (usually) being a DR value to bypass. In Deadfire, if you have enough Penetration, non-Raw damage does full damage just like Raw, and if you can over penetrate it actually does more damage than Raw (Raw damage attacks can't over penetrate). Given how easy it is to reach full penetration against most enemies, this negates the benefit of Raw damage in a lot of cases. I get the feeling Obsidian didn't take this into account when setting Raw damage values. There are a couple of unique weapons that do Raw damage, and they have significantly lower base damage than their non-Raw counterparts. This made a lot of sense in Pillars where you could face enemies like Adra Beetles which had at least 9 DR and, often, 18+ DR, but in Deadfire it makes a lot less sense. True, elemental damage is better than raw when overpenetrating, especially in the case of weapon lashes, but you're not going to be overpenetrating with Dragon Thrashed much. Lash damage is bugged when overpenetrating, it is treated as a separate 1.3 multiplier right now.

Yeah, it's a bit more worthy now. Actually, concussive shot seems really good now, too (1 bond), play dead (2 bond), evasive fire (1 bond). Barring the lack of acc. boost, the ranger really looks like a fun single-class for me to play, especially if you want utility, and you don't mind spending points on the pet. I just counted, and with (i think it is) 28 points, you actually don't lack for good pick-options. Full ranger next playthrough for me, I'm happy. Ranger was always a decent class just outshone by the crazy around it. My patch proof Ranger (no sub)/Troubadour build is ripping up 1.1. Bear companion + Resil Companion gives you a 9 armour tank. Plus heaps of accuracy means DPS is fine. With Beckoner being destroyed (-1 to summon phrases is now +1 LOL) Troubadour is now best everything. Breezing through tutorial island. Yeah summoner is still the best to solo PoTD, except the bugged? poison/alchemy wizard/assassin.

Beta patch broke game.
dunehunter replied to bryndragon's question in Pillars of Eternity II: Deadfire Technical Support (Spoiler Warning!)
It is a beta patch, so install it at your own risk, why complain it here? -
Not different that 6 Nature Godlikes Fighters/Paladins with Cleave/Mob Stance you could do now. I guess whole screen would explode faster then Hiroshima. Based on that everything should be nerfed to ground. And chances are that "everything" will be nerfed, wouldn't it? Cleave is untouched. Charge is changed from Full Attack to Stun. Paladin Faith and Conviction nerfed from 10 to 8, Deep Faith 5->2.
