  1. Alternatively we could use their skin to make extra bags, so they can still be used as pack mules... Sort of.
  2. (I can't find a facepalm pic good enough for this) What should people think? They just state an opinion, and some jokes. What disturbs you so much, I don't understand. No one's demanding anything, we just make conversation. And again, not everyone suggests quests/story about randomly dead npcs. Numbers(polls) don't say much without context.
  3. What for? I don't care about which side has the most, if that's what you're saying.
  4. But not everyone is suggesting story related additions. Just a reason, whatever is that, to not give a damn about it. And of course it will still matter to a lot of people and so they will reload. But not everyone will, and so the question is: can we get something out of the accident/corpse?
  5. That's what he is referring to. That there should be a good enough reason for people to not load a save, every time a party member accidentally dies.
  6. You're right, but he's talking about constructing one building in one go, and later wanting to continue building even lower(whatever the reason). At least that's what I understand he's saying. The fact that the dungeon may be an old ruin to the player, and as a result of physical phenomena be even lower(or higher) is not his point. We don't know if there are actually underground oriented races(not even about the dwarves) in PE, so let's not conclude how they tend to build based on other fantastic races. Other than that, you're right, there is no reason to continue building downwards... unless someone is trying to find or protect/hide something(and for some reason that's the best way they could come up with) And this whole thing about eating; if they are magically sustained/summoned creatures, who's to say they even need tangible food to survive? Or that they don't venture outside once in a while? There can be many explanations, but IMO there is no need for that much thought put into it from our perspective. Not yet anyway, it would be entertaining to see the countless theories about it after the game is released!
  7. Semi-permanent necro familiars/summons? No respect for them, I know. But who cares, they are supposed to help with the journey.
  8. You said the only way to start from the surface is if someone is a dwarf/dwarven. Fair enough about the rest. and very correct about the last one Although I thought we were discussing construction methods? Whatever. It still counts as one building, and expands, downwards, later on, but whatever. Though fun, it would be too tame I think.
  9. You got my attention with this one! It could be the opposite. That technology could be the result of magic/cycle of suffering(reincarnation). Either way it could serve as an 180 degree turn for the plot. It wouldn't fit though as you said and it might be too FF like... but maybe?
  10. So kind of like the 7 sins, but instead we have 15 levels of desperation? Binding of Isaac(the game) style!
  11. Really? Not that bottom-up isn't viable, still, it's not the only one. And they dig for whole lifetimes? What is this, the dark ages? Doesn't matter anyway; you still start digging from the surface, not the bottom. Unless you are a troll living underground!
  12. Uh... what? The endless paths are underground, like a lot of dungeons. You start from the surface, whether you go up or down.
  13. Considering the team working on PE, I would say yes, it's very, very possible. I don't remember if they have commented on backgrounds/traits though.
  14. I like situations when you can make choices and benefit from them even when you get disadvantages too. In point based systems it is easier to achieve desired effect and get it work right. IMHO disadvantages should have bigger impact than advantage. In point based system like: +3 = -5 So you can be better at one thing than everyone but you will be really bad in something else. Dumar That's what the Fallout traits and Arcanum backgrounds do, most of the time. Though they are named after the advantage. They give you some benefit for a "bigger" disadvantage. That disadvantage might seem crippling in the character creation screen, but once you define your character it doesn't really matter. Except from Gifted, that's one hell of a cheat trait.
  15. You see though, those are the same problems with Skyrim. The world doesn't feel alive or is immersive, because most descriptions are vague or non-existent due to the radiant quest system. And on top of that, everything waits for the player's input. So for all we know So for all we know Skyrim is better off if the player doesn't join any guild, or proceed in the main quest(dragons don't appear until a certain quest). This won't work well for a story driven cRPG. It's funny how people want immersion, consequences and for the world to not move around the player, but when it comes to time limits "Oops! I don't want that, because I want the people dying of starvation or thirst to wait, and not die, until I explored the entire map". That's why the exploring argument is bs. Honestly there are much better arguments around, for or against time limits, I'm surprised you "explorers" don't praise bethesda out right.
  16. Well, he is infamous at least! He should be in this .
  17. I like deserts, tundras, large north forests and barren wastelands. Swamps are fun as well. Though I don't dislike any on your list much, other than a stereotypical tropical island.
  18. You seem to take into account the "what ifs" for JE2. The world JE isn't as fleshed out as Faerun. And Baldur's Gate is a city, the Jade empire represents the Chinese culture equivalent of that world(admittedly though, we haven't seen much of the empire, like the Prosperous East, so I'm going by what we've seen and know). Besides which setting is the scene, not the world. If something is set in ancient China, the setting is ancient China. If it's set in Medieval Europe, the setting is medieval Europe. Oblivion was set in Cyrodil, that(and partly Oblivion) are the setting(s) of the game. You can't count Morrowind as Oblivion's setting. Though you can say "Nirn" is part of the larger setting in TES series/world.
  19. True. But he wasn't a representative of the setting(the nation of Jade Empire). We didn't see people with muskets or pantaloons running around. And the setting was an ancient China-like Empire with magic. Not the whole world.
  20. He was one NPC. And a joke on top of that. He wasn't a representative of the game's setting and class system.
  21. ... I myself quite enjoyed Jade Empire, among other games I didn't, though I wouldn't mind a good story in a Far East setting. Nor do I really mind unarmed kicking ass monks in P:E. But if everyone dresses and thinks medieval european(though they do have the concept of reincarnation), it's hard to make sense of someone wearing kimonos(Keokogi etc). As I said, IMO background options will help divert from the DnD cliché.
  22. Personally I prefer WW off, since it has an encounter that makes me cringe, aliens; that's the same aliens bethesda made canon. It's too bad other WW Easter eggs are being missed as well. Personally I wouldn't like something like that. I would prefer all of the team decides on what to place as Easter eggs in the world and what not, rather than separating between over the top stupid Easter eggs and mild ones.
  23. Thanks for the update! Anyone else thought someone, recorded, would start screaming in pain, when Josh Sawyer threw that mace?
