  1. Any reason why killing backers in gilded doesn't cause reputation loss?
  2. Hmm, I'm not sure. I'll report my progress though as I play. I tried a few other classes for a bit, but as of tonight I restarted a fresh game with this same ranger build. So far ranger is my favorite out of all the classes. I tried Monk & Rogue and had lots of trouble.
  3. Sorry, I didn't even think about that, just wanted to make some jokes, make people laugh
  4. It would be nice to have a key that just cycles through the currently selected companion weapon sets.
  5. If the game was moddable, we could actually add these new talents. I wonder if there is a way to convert unity3d files to XML, then have unity read the data from the XML, then users can easily edit the XML, hence making the game easily moddable.
  6. If you choose to attack and kill Heodan, you get no response from Calisca. Then Heodan speaks from the dead: Also, during the game if you choose the "aggressive" dialogue option to attack NPC's, you might get a penalty to your reputation, but if you manually attack them you can avoid the penalty to your reputation. I wish this game was moddable. Unity3D should have the option to make unity3d and asset files XML, instead of encrypting the packages.
  7. Common Male Orlan Dark Hair / Skin Slight modification Drag Drop to the folder - Pillars of Eternity\PillarsOfEternity_Data\data\art\gui\portraits\player\male
  8. It's actually a lot of fun to try and do so, too bad the game isn't mod friendly.
  9. The problem with rogue is you don't get the bear companion. That bear companion is crucial to keeping durance, aloth and your ranger safe. Still, I want to try and make a rogue work on POTD, but it's hard cuz if I go to flank with the rogue, the enemy will turn around and just hit my rogue for lots of dmg.
  10. There are more heterosexual romances in DA:I than homosexual or bisexual ones. At no point in the DA series have there been more homosexual than heterosexual options. And here I thought I'd escape the "I'm a heterosexual male and not being catered to exclusively!" bull**** was exclusive to the BSN. I am sorry that having the same amount of romance options as gay men or lesbians qualifies as "as gay as possible" to you. DUDE are you blind, cassandra pentaghast looks like a ****ing man. That does not count as a straight romance option. She looks like a god damn transgender shemale or something, it's disturbing.
  11. Guys keep in mind, I was talking about Inquisition. Dragon Age Origins was an incredible game, I LOVE DAO, but that Bioware we know is dead. This new Bioware only cares about making their games as gay as possible and making all the women look like men (except for morrigan & leliana). In regards to my avatar, I modified that picture to give Cassandra female facial proportions. Unfortunately her original vanilla mesh face structure is based on male skeletal structure which is why she looks like a god damn man, which is also why she's popular amongst gay men and women. To think she's supposed to be a romance option for straight males, lol. *shakes head*. Calisca's 2D art is ten times more fantastical and beautiful than Christopher ****ing Pentaghast's horrid face.
  12. Ranger is one of the best classes for Path of the Damned, Trial of Iron playing blind. I kid you not. I'm currently doing POTD on TOI and dominating everything in my path. Check out my ranger build - http://forums.obsidian.net/topic/78315-ranger-build-path-of-the-damned-trial-of-iron-81-dmg-crit-at-level-4/ - Ranger is VERY powerful!
  13. thx for those corrections! I've been wanting to get this ability for a while, finally got it tonight and it's excellent. One thing I learned about no death rulesets (dead is dead, trial of iron, ironman etc), you can't skip any fights and need to be tested to see where you stand. Better to die sooner than later. That wounding shot does apply some kind of damage over time, because often times when i shoot something and hit, it dies a few seconds later when no one else hit it. As for raw damage over time, I'm not sure about that. #2 - I didn't know that, good to know. I just learned tonight that wounding shot can crit, i had no idea. I'll look into careful attack, more accuracy would be welcome to crit as often as possible.
  14. Voice Pack DLC would take care of this. This game is as good as Skyrim in which it deserves to be moddable.
  15. Getting 90 on metacritic is no easy task. POE - 90 - user score: 8.6 Inquisition 85 - user score: 5.8
  16. I just can't get over how good this game is, especially once you've found a class you really enjoy. It boggles the mind to why Bioware abandoned this style of gameplay. Paradox/Obsidian are smart to cash in on EA/Bioware's incompetence. POE crushes Dragon Age Inquisition. Cities Skyline destroys Simcity. *cheers*
  17. Class: Ranger Race: Wood Elf Difficulty: Path of the Damned Mode: Trial of Iron Companion: BEAR Tank Custom Companions: NONE @ Level 4 - 81 crit dmg from FINE ARQEBUS/Burning Lash using wounded shot - The wounding shot also applies a DOT of 81 dmg over 12 seconds Pros - Use wounding shot, If you hit an enemy for 50 dmg, that 50 dmg becomes dot dmg as well, perfect against high DR enemies (shades). - Your sole purpose is to punch through the damage reduction of high DR enemies. - High punching damage with Arqebus, Vicious Aim + Wounding Shot. - Switch to hunting bow against lesser mobs, Arqebus vs high DR enemies. - Bear companion has high movement speed and can indirectly keep aggro of some mobs while your tank engages the rest of the enemies. - Bear companion can tank well with Durance's healng consecrated ground. - Can punch through DR of shades and apply dmging dot on them. - It rocks when you hit with the arquebus, very rewarding! The build up and anticipation is great. Cons - Low constituion means keep this character all the way in the back of your line, don't bother pulling with this character, too risky. - Against shades you need to surround yourself with other companions and put back against a wall, corner up if need be 300 style. - If this character gets engaged and you can't risk a disengage, have durance immediately cast withdraw on you especially if you're hurt. - It sucks when you miss with the arquebus!! Armor - Simple Clothing for maximum ranged attack speed. Tactics - Against high DR enemies use Arqebus + wounding shot. - Against lesser mobs use hunting bow or pistol. NOTE: Dexterity is actually 19 not 21 (under the effect of rautaui sweet pie which adds +2 dex) - Your priority should be enemy mages, archers, dps, sellswords, shades, bosses, etc. Don't worry too much about lesser enemies unless they are all that's left. - IMPORTANT: Have Eder or your DPS ready to move behind enemies to flank them, this lowers enemy deflection so you can land more hits. You have to be right behind the enemy then look for the flanked status on the enemy. This is important especially if you're playing POTD difficulty for the fights at the start of the game (camp). If you don't flank, you're just prolonging the fight which means more damage to your health. - FOOD, use food before fights that give damage reduction (ale) and +10 endurance minimum. Food is cheap eat and drink hearty before battle! - Use Hatchet & Large Shield for tank, Hatchet gives you even more deflection. If no one is attacking you then switch to a average or fast speed weapon with accuracy. This same concept applies to any other tank or offtank in the party. - Use choke points when you can with tanks in front (duh), focus fire one enemy when possible (duh). - CORNER UP if you have to. - Make sure your tanks are engaged with all the enemies before you use your other companions for anything. Once the enemies are settled in their positions, then make your DPS/Healing move. - Priests basic combo is that consecrated ground healing thing he puts down and the armor of faith buff that increases the party damage reduction, A priest best attack is the Iconic projection which heals and damages enemies, spam the hell out of that. Insta Kill SpellWright Insta Kill Archer FLANK IF YOU CAN FOCUS THEM CASTERS Cant EDIT: Please don't bypass the language filter, even in tags.
  18. I finally died to a group of shades/shadows on POTD TOI. The good news is my tank's endurance didn't go down beyond 3 no matter how many shades and shadows were hitting him. Although eventually my tanks health ran out (not endurance, his health over a period of like 3-4 minutes of him fighting solo, but still this is a tried and true build for a supreme tank. Next time I need to employ the following strategy when dealing with shades/shadows:
  19. I just fought against the 5 shadows & 2 shade in the temple of eothas 2nd level room on POTD. None of my companions could hit the one shade, Aloth missed all his fire attacks (fan of flames), Durance missed his Divine Marks (fire dmg). After about three minutes I got the Shade down to 2 red bars. My tank was easily tanking, but eventually died to low health. Not sure why every single Fan of Flames attack missed, they had no problem hitting the shadows though. Basically I can't land any fire spells on the shade for some reason. I had five companions: Eder Aloth Durance Kana Me (insanely good tank) We were all level 4. UPDATE Ok I use the corner strategy and completely destroyed them. My god, I don't know if this is a brilliant strategy or extremely cheesy, but it worked incredibly well on Path of the Damned difficulty. Chill Fog surprisingly did good damage against the shadows and kept them at bay while I focused the shades with ranged attacks. Basically I just had Aloth use his necrotic lance on the 1st shade and Kana using his Gun to shoot it until it died. I did the same thing for the second one. I didn't have to rely on missing with aloth's fan of flames, even though his necrotic lance missed.
  20. You'll want max might and dex for a DPS fighter. You can use pike or quarterstaff for reach attacks while standing behind your tank. Based on the situation you can move behind enemies that are attacking your tank, then you'll get that flanked bonus which helps a lot. As a DPS Fighter you have constant recovery which means you'll want to be a backup tank just in case the main tank goes down. 1st slot - two handed weapon, pike, quarterstaff or estoc for DR bypass. 2nd slot - large shield and hatchet for max deflection in case you need to tank.
  21. Believe it or not, you're going to have a lot of fun figuring out the combat. Just keep trying and remember, figuring it out is the fun part. 1. Positioning is the key to winning battles in this game, have fun experimenting with getting enemies to stand where you want them to (hint). 2. With two tanks you can setup a wall and control the enemy positioning. You can make the enemy form a line or a circle. Once you control the enemies movement then you can setup them up for AOE attacks. 3. Take the movie three hundred for example, you got a wall of tanks. Then imagine if they started their fights with a few crossbows, then switched to shield and sword. 4. If your tank doesn't do a lot of damage, why not give him a hatchet (+5 deflection) in addition to a large shield (+16 deflection). 5. Why not start off a fight with your rogue if you have one and let him get his sneak attack in with a crossbow? As a ranger you can do 1.5x damage against enemies who are suffering from wounding shot AOE. NEW RULE Use all your abilities, don't save any of them. Approach every fight with such overwhelming force that you end up showing no mercy. Just go back to the inn after every fight if you have to. Check out my FIGHTER BUILD for POTD/Trial of Iron: http://forums.obsidian.net/topic/77918-fighter-build-for-path-of-the-damned-trial-of-iron-with-rp-inspired-by-evil-tealc/ I consider this build a spoiler though, it's far more fun to figure it all out yourself, but a few hints won't hurt. TACTICS - IMPORTANT: Have Eder or your DPS ready to move behind enemies to flank them, this lowers enemy deflection so you can land more hits. Make ready your breakfast and eat hearty. Ale + Cheese is bare minimum for tough fights. - Use Hatchet & Large Shield when tanking, Hatchet gives you even more deflection. If no one is attacking your tank, then have your tank switch to a average or fast speed weapon with accuracy. This same concept applies to any other tank or offtank in the party. - Use choke points when you can with tanks in front (duh), focus fire one enemy when possible (duh). - Pull with a ranged weapon and make sure you and Eder are both engaged before moving in any other character. It's more important to control a fight rather than rushing to do DPS. I repeat, use your tank and Eder to position the enemies, once the enemies are attacking your tanks, THEN you can start using your other characters (moving them, attacking, healing, etc). Side note: If you have a rogue then pull with powerful ranged weapon for sneak attack. - I REPEAT, make sure your tanks are engaged with all the enemies before you use your other companions for anything. - Once you feel that you're controlling the fight to a certain degree, then move the wizard to the side and behind of the enemy to use that Fan of Flames (or similar spells) to AOE dmg down the enemy. - Wizard can place slicken oil to the left & right of the tanks to make sure enemies can't just go around your tanks to attack your weaker companions in the back. - Tanks in front, your priest in center of party, wizards behind priest, rogue waiting patiently for moment of opportunity, don't just rush your rogue in letting him die early on. Once a rogue gets behind an enemy and that enemy is "Flanked", he's screwed even on POTD difficulty.
  22. even if POE gets no modding support, I'm hoping POE 2 will at least get some modding love.
  23. I get it now. I play POTD, TOI but with maiming turned on. If maiming was off, then field triage could make the diff between life and death. Thanks!
