  1. Okay, I see it working now, I think the DR bypass helped a lot. Man, here I am playing on POTD, TOI and I had no idea what blast was hah.
  2. Why did Kana take Field Triage? I don't see the benefits of this skill, anyone know what it's good for? Healing for 50 health seems, well, completely useless. Update: okay I got a good response, I see why this skill is useful now. I play POTD, TOI but with maiming turned on. If maiming was off, then field triage could make the diff between life and death. If your main character dies, it's GG.
  3. What are blasts? What blasts does penetrating blast give DR bypass? Okay, it's a passive ability that wizards get. Causes AOE dmg blast when you hit someone with wand, scepter, rod. I've never actually seen this work
  4. Start over and play on POTD Trial of Iron, it's the best way to experience the game. Save scumming ruins gaming.
  5. 1. start the fight with ranged attack 2. switch from ranged to melee 3. hit x immediately after switching to melee to keep tanks in their current position (hold position) 4. wait patiently until tanks are engaged by enemies 5. kill enemies After some enemies are dead you don't like how your team mates automatically move position? I'm going to keep an eye on this in game.
  6. CRUEL/AGGRESSIVE/STOIC EVIL TEAL'C Difficulty: Path of the Damned Mode: Trial of Iron Race: - Island Aumaua since the extra weapon set comes in handy. 1st weapon slot - Hatchet (+5 deflection), Large Shield (+16 deflection) (use this slot when you're tanking when lots of enemies are hitting you) 2nd weapon slot - Single Weapon with Accuracy bonus(spear, dagger, rapier, etc - use this slot when no one is attacking you for the increase in accuracy) 3rd weapon slot - Heavy Hitting Ranged Weapon or Single Handed DR Reduction Weapon (use this slot as utility based on the situation) - The Living Lands +1 Might Class: Fighter Role: Heavy Tanking (Full Party) - No custom made companions. Might: 21 Con: 17 Dex: 3 Per: 17 Int: 3 Resolve: 17 Take: Knockdown Take: Laborer for +1 Athletic & Mechanic Take: Rapid Recovery Take: Defender In order of priority increase Mechanic, Athletic, then a little bit to survival, lore and sneaking. I like having multiple utilities at my disposal. ARMOR: Brigandine, Plate, Heavy Armor, etc Tactics: - IMPORTANT: Have Eder or your DPS ready to move behind enemies to flank them, this lowers enemy deflection so you can land more hits. You have to be right behind the enemy then look for the flanked status on the enemy. This is important especially if you're playing POTD difficulty for the fights at the start of the game (camp). If you don't flank, you're just prolonging the fight which means more damage to your health. - FOOD, use food before fights that give damage reduction (ale) and +10 endurance minimum. Food is cheap eat and drink hearty before battle! - Use Hatchet & Large Shield when tanking, Hatchet gives you even more deflection. If no one is attacking you then switch to a average or fast speed weapon with accuracy. This same concept applies to any other tank or offtank in the party. - Use choke points when you can with tanks in front (duh), focus fire one enemy when possible (duh). - Pull with a ranged weapon and make sure you and Eder are both engaged before moving in any other character. It's more important to control a fight rather than rushing to do DPS. I repeat, use your tank and Eder to position the enemies, once the enemies are attacking your tanks, THEN you can start using your other characters (moving them, attacking, healing, etc). Side note: If you have a rogue then pull with powerful ranged weapon for sneak attack. - I REPEAT, make sure your tanks are engaged with all the enemies before you use your other companions for anything. Once the enemies are settled in their positions, then make your DPS/Healing move. - Priests basic combo is that consecrated ground healing thing he puts down and the armor of faith buff that increases the party damage reduction, A priest best attack is the Iconic projection which heals and damages enemies, spam the hell out of that. - Once you feel that you're controlling the fight to a certain degree, then move the wizard to the side and behind of the enemy to use that Fan of Flames (or similar spells) to AOE dmg down the enemy. - Wizard can place slicken oil to the left & right of the tanks to make sure enemies can't just go around your tanks to attack your weaker companions in the back. - Tanks in front, your priest in center of party, wizards behind priest, rogue waiting patiently for moment of opportunity, don't just rush your rogue in letting him die early on. Once a rogue gets behind an enemy and that enemy is "Flanked", he's screwed even on POTD difficulty. Summary This build is about tanking unbelievably well in hopes of controlling the fight as much as possible which gives you the freedom to maneuver and use your DPS companions. Good luck and please critique this build.
  7. I hereby promote you to Expert Veteran. Go ahead and set the game to Path of the Damned and turn on Trial of Iron, then report your progress here.
  8. Bioware is going to copy this game, adding fabulous glitter all over the place and making sure all the women look like men, except for two, that seems to be their balance.
  9. Holy **** the mods are fast. I re-edited my post only to find it was moved here. *facepalm*
  10. Calling someone a whore is a spoiler?.. Hmm, wait probably better I don't ask.
  11. Rapiers have a speed rating of fast, spears have a speed rating of average. Both weapons are accurate and piercing. Which is ultimately better?
  12. POTD and Trial of Iron is the best way to play this game. I didn't come to this conclusion lightly.
  13. On POTD have high accuracy is extremely important.
  14. If I wasn't so lazy, I'd take a look at the assembly-csharp.dll, but I shouldn't have to do that.
  15. Nothing wrong with that, there are many games I've played Trial Of Iron/No Death on normal/hard difficulty. You're also right about the time. If you don't have a lot of time then lower difficulty will match how much experience you have with the game. On a side note. I DIED TO A THRONG OF BOARS AT MAGRANS AREA. POTD TRIAL OF IRON.
  16. Guys help me understand something. Scale armor has DR 7, but then it says PIERCE 5. Does that mean scale armor only has a DR of 5 vs pierce or does it mean the 5 pierce gets added to the base DR of 7, totallying 12 DR against pierce? Got it, thanks!
  17. Ranger is great for higher difficulties because they can deliver consistent damage from a long distance. It's not about massive DPS, it's about having companions that can dish out a decent amount of damage while not being knocked out. I will admit though, a ranger NEEDS a strong tank especially on POTD or hard difficulty. The pet tank is alright, but a fighter is much better.
  18. When I first started playing I was horrible at the game and could barley survive Normal, but then I figured it out. Then I tried hard difficulty, after a while I figured that difficulty out as well. Now that I'm playing on POTD, I believe this is the true POE experience especially with Trial of Iron turned on. I've always been about immersion and IMO difficulty and immersion go hand in hand. If you don't feel the danger that is presented in the story of the game, then you're not immersed fully. Trust me, give it a try you won't regret it. You do have a point however. I am min/maxing to a certain degree. I'm playing as a fighter with constant recovery. One thing I've learned about POTD difficulty, it's all about survival first then the amount of damage you can dish (trial of iron gave me this perspective). I will not make my own companions though, I"m looking forward to the companions given to me in the game with their RP skillsets. A good RPG is one that you can keep playing over & over again, re-rolling new characters and experiencing the game in a different way. POE is definitely one of these games, like Dragon Age Origins for example. If you die, you should look to the positive that you can try a new character and re-experience the games interesting story.
  19. potd isnt the main culprit here. PoE's general lack of strategy/game mechanics are. Maybe I haven't played the game enough, but I think the game does offer a lot of strategy. The fact that positioning plays such a huge role is a vital part of any combat mechanic.
  20. IMO Trial of Iron does increase difficulty, because if you lose a single battle, you're dead. It forces you to accept the difficult challenge presented in front of you in its entiriety. You must understand the fight or die. Crap, I was hoping POTD would be a challenge all the way to the end of the game.
