Could have saved us a lot of trouble just saying that you were a transphobe instead of dressing it up in that whole freedom of speech cloak. I don't like the whole trans thing, it's disturbing. You can call me and label me in anyway you want and I wear it as a badge of honor. You're trying to force gay issues on people who don't want anything to do with it. I always laugh at offensive jokes that are directed to any group, does that bother you? Does it bother you that I have a dark sense of humor? But despite how I feel, if I saw a LGBT person getting physically attacked as part of a hate crime, I would fight by the LGBT persons side and defend them from hate. Just for the record, I HATE being politically correct, because acting in such a manner is a lie, it hides how people truly feel in regards to something.

I'm in the first big town, I went downstairs to find the priests remains. I have myself, the elf mage and the human tank from that town. All the mobs down there are tough as hell and my mage always seems to die first. 1. How do you tank in this game? 2. If a mage runs away from an enemy, the enemy attacks him hard and the mage dies, so what am I supposed to do?

Ah, yes, Russia. The bastion of tolerance and diversity. You'd never have anyone gay bother you there. Mostly because they'd get beaten to death. But hey, at least you are free to slander and discriminate against them! Looks like the Russians still value family and men being men, I respect that a great deal.

The combat system is terrible...
luzarius replied to Zherot's topic in Pillars of Eternity: General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)
I agree with you. I like this game a lot except for it's combat system. In ways it's similar to Dragon Age Origins, but without the tactics system. I'm going to try the game again tonight. -
You've got it so backwards it's not even funny. The very best way to paint the target is to engage in childish one-uppery. Obsidian and Firedom responded rather perfectly. The showed responsiveness to the issue but Firedom also got to express his feeling that this was an overreaction to what was intended as a harmless jest, but which unintentionally offended people. The overall effect is an honest effort to keep the peace and nobody can fault Obsidian or Firedom for that. Had they done what you suggest, it would only be throwing gas on the fire. Oh, and what do you call this? Looks like rome is burning as we speak. So what will we do when the next and future complaints come? Bend over for them too?, because they ARE going to come. A lot of backers are very disappointed at this, the whole point of backing the game was to have complete freedom and not worry about games being controlled or censored...and here we are, censoring something because someone got offended about it and bowing down to a group that hate gamers and their culture. Listening to them was a stupid move and a bad sign for obsidian since it shows they will cave under the littlest pressure. Bioware are the queens of bending over, it sickes me. On a side note, I want to say I respect the moderators of this forum a great deal for letting people speak their minds. The Bioware forums are plauged with moderators from North Korea. I am no longer posting in regards to this topic. I just want to say that ideally the original limerick should of been left intact.

Unfortunately I don't think any distributor will accept "Ideologies" as a legitimate excuse to grant a refund. Anyway from what I understand it was not removed - it was replaced with something else making fun of why it was removed. As long as it doesn't get removed, then my faith in humanity will remain intact. I also know ways of getting a refund if I have to. I've dealt with similar situations in regards to bioware.

I laughed when I saw it too, but they removed it from the game (in the new patch) because some transvestite whined about it on twitter. HAve no idea how you missed all that fuss They officially removed it? Are you sure? I'm about to get a refund for this game, I will never buy another Obsidian product again.

Actually, there was a choice. They asked me if I wanted to change in light of what happened. I chose to change it so that they can concentrate on the game instead of this PR nightmare. They weren't going to change it, they asked ME if I wanted to. I can find another platform to write my controversial crap, and I will. They, on the other hand, did the right thing and allowed me to decide the fate of the epitaph. I chose to turn into something that made fun of the bitch-bastards that were complaining. They went above and beyond what I would have expected them to do. Okay, so it was a choice. Can you confirm these talks with screenshots or something? Blank out sensitive info. I find it kind of weird that Obsidian would be 100% okay with this staying but would avoid engaging at all with their backers about it in the first place. I would like to ask you this, though: was offering this as a toggle a choice at any point? So that non-backers who didn't buy the game could remove whatever offended them and others could keep the game as it is? Also, is there a reason why Obsidian has not been upfront about this? You will have to take my word for it. I have no problems saying what's on my mind, as can be attested to, so I have no reason to BS. It was collaborative. There were emails back and forth and I don't have the inclination to start taking screenies and editing images. Second, to clarify, they asked me if I wanted to change it in light of what was happening. I didn't even ask "what if I say no?". I immediately volunteered to do it. Third, developing a software mechanism to allow users to turn them off and on is a lot tougher/longer than changing some data files. I am a software developer, so I can imagine what's involved. And finally, I'm just assuming here, but Obsidian didn't want to say anything final until it was all done. Most companies don't want to declare anything as final until it's done. Firedorn, I got your back and loved your Limerick, don't let anyone initmidate you. I'd gladly fight by you side by side in a bloody fist fight to protect your 1st amendement rights.

Limerick edit thread 2

It pleases me to know all these politically correct pansies are offended. I used to have zero respect for Obsidian, but having the balls to add this limerick to the game earns respect +1. -
Limerick edit thread 2

The limerick should not be removed, if Obsidian feels intimidated and threatened by some dude in a dress, then all hope in man is lost. -
I'll lose all respect for Obsidian if they remove this limerick from the game. Some dude accidentally sleeps with a shemale and kills himself, LOL this is hilarious, how can anyone not see the humor in this. If Obsidian lets a dude in a dress initimidate them, then all hope in man is lost. Obsidian, there are many men still left in the world, don't give in to the weak. I enjoy your risky, vulgar, non-politically correct writing.

Have you played Baldur's Gate? Icewind Dale? What kind of combat system were you expecting? What are your specific complaints? Because clearly you're in the minority or just trolling. Could the combat system use some work? Sure. Is it the worst ever? Umm. I'm not inclined to dignify that with a response. Guys, I'm glad that you guys are happy with the game, don't listen to me. I'm not really a gamer, I just enjoy the story in RPG's. I found out that you can buy companions in the game. Basically I just buy companions until I have max party, now I am enjoying the game since my party can actually do some damage now. Hopefully six companions is enough to breeze through most fights on normal.

This is the worst combat system I've ever experienced in the history of me playing RPG's and I've played a lot. There is no challenge scale of any kind. It's just a die and reload, how dumb. I still can't tell if I'm supposed to be in an area or not. My mage elf guy keeps dying since there is no way for the tank to taunt. Is it normal to have to run back to the inn and rest after every fight?

What is it with the bad RPG community and their worship of this word while simultaneously not understanding it's meaning? You are correct, I meant eliminate the repetitiveness, I was tired when I originally wrote this post. A lot of you are acting like anyone can setup a good tactics setup for a party. For Dragon Age Origins, I had to perform lots of trial and error before I found a good tactics setup that worked with the party. Keep in mind, I also play my games in a no death rule set, so achieving perfection is key. Eventually I had it down perfect and it felt like a great accomplishment. When you setup tactics for your party, It feels like i'm with my group and we're discussing combat BEFORE the fight, preparing strategies ahead of time, it's very immersive. Doing the same abilities over and over again in a repetitive way actually breaks immersion, no warrior or mage is this stupid to be need to be told to do the same exact thing over and over again. It's just getting boring having to click all these abilities in the same exact order in every single god damn fight. When you notice a certain degree of repetitiveness, your human nature yearns to automate and improve. Does this mean Obsidian has no respect for humanities natural need to avoid repetition and improve?. The reason DAO had a tactics system was for people who want to avoid all the unnessary pausing. Guys, I hate to break it to you, but you don't need to actually pause during the fight if you have a tactics system. Nothing gives me more enjoyment than giving orders before a fight, then seeing those tactics come to fruition in absolute real time during a fight. On a side note, I want to give this game a compliment. I really like how you can go in slow mode during the fight.

Is there any way to learn if an area is too difficult without resorting to dying and reloading? I despise meta gaming. Is every encounter in the game designed around having six party members? It just feels this game wasn't balanced properly which results in a die and reload which completely destroys immersion. My goal with this post is for people to tell me how to avoid meta gaming while still being able to enjoy the game in a blind play through.
