  1. Shouldn't Xoti have a Hick accent like Eder and the Devil given her background? If Defala (the slaver from White March) is anything to go by, then "hick" Readcerans sound similar like hick Dyrwoodians.
  2. I would really like Cadegund. It would be nice to have some Magran representation in this game since (I assume) will have the choice of fighting against Eothas. Otherwise, give me a humanoid monster companion. It's not a bad idea to have something different. Even if we don't get the extra stretch goal, we should get another side kick. The more companions we can use, the better.
  3. I'm hoping for more lighthearted and catchy themes now that we're in a adventure like setting instead of a setting with a soulless baby plague.
  4. Funny, but Mazzy was one of my favorite characters from BG2. She didn't feel that underdeveloped. And that's the cool thing about it. I'm sure Obsidian can do the same thing with the rest of the sidekicks.
  5. They could just make it like Enserric from Hordes of the Underdark. Just morph it into a different weapon type based on the user's preference.
  6. They're not super thin, they're just not as developed as the other companions. I don't know why people keep saying this even though Josh Sawyer keeps stating the opposite.
  7. Canceling them won't make a bit of difference. When it takes 6 weeks+ to write ONE companion, It's still very expensive to turn Ydwin into a full companion. That is why she so high. Also, I voted for Rekke because I think he's potential to be a great companion if Obsidian's writes him correctly.
  8. Josh said that sidekicks are suppose to be like Mazzy/Cernd when it comes to development, so they can still use that story with her as a sidekick. Just simply give her banter when you encounter Eothas. It wouldn't even require a personal quest.
  9. Companions and sidekicks should also randomly talk to each other while on the ship, similar to the way that banter in PoE1 works when you enter an area/city. It would make the the ship feel more alive.
  10. "Ding! Building upgrade X has been completed. Please call in and select a new upgrade Y. Steward out." "Dong! Your companion X has completed a miniadventure. I rolled on the random loot table for the adventure and he gained Y. Please call in and select a new miniadventure. Steward out." "Dang! Random encounter. Remember those walls you built for security? They are just for looks and reducing gold lost to bandits outside the walls, not for protection. Either return for a brief fight inside the fortifications against trivial foes X whenever you feel like it within the next Y days or your defenders will handle it and a few buildings will be damaged. Steward out." ...It is not the fault of her personality. She is tainted in my memory, and I daresay in that of many others as well, not by her immortal/animancy exposition nature, but by being inextricably linked to the subgame that was the player stronghold in Pillars of Eternity, serving as the remote control for something that felt very much like a cheap webgame approaching cowclicker status. That's perhaps a harsh verdict on the stronghold functionality, but the execution fell far short of this player's expectations, which to a large degree were based on Obsidian's prior and superior work with the player interactions and stronghold functionality of the Crossroads Keep for Neverwinter Nights 2 a decade before. It'll take a hell of a lot of good writing on the development team's part to overcome the animosity following her due to her functionality in stronghold upgrading & alerting to minor and not remotely interesting battles. (Speaking of which I dearly and sincerely hope that Deadfire has neither miniadventure, upgrading minigames, nor random encounters-return to base, like Pillars of Eternity; Given how poorly that worked out in Pillars I'd love to see those aspects scrapped entirely rather than attempted saved and improved.) Mini adventures were improved in patch 3.0 when they added stories to them, and I would love to see them return and expanded upon. On Topic: As for the steward, I'm ok with her being unkillable just as long as players have the option of being mean to her. That would work well for people who role play "not so good" characters.
  11. They most likely won't do it for technical reasons. Ogres like Korgrak is too big fit through doors. And I think monster races like Vithrack don't have animations for every weapon
  12. I'm still sore to this day that I can't see the rest of Anomen's quest because I never played as a female character in BG2.
  13. Then don't use them? Pretty sure they're optional, and I'm still sure we're getting that 8th companion stretch goal.
  14. I can also see sidekicks working for unusual companions who wouldn't work that well with the relationship system. Like monster humanoid races, or they can even pull an Arcanum or Dragon Age Origin where a main NPC (or villain ) joins you near the end of the game.
  15. I'm pretty sure we're still getting that 8th companion stretch goal, otherwise Carrie Patel just lied on the Twitch stream.
  16. Knowing Pillars, his name may not even be spelled that way.
  17. Good news. You get your Dwarf companion, but he's a sidekick instead of a normal companion. Close enough though.
  18. I would really like a Dawn Godlike. It would certainly make sense because we're chasing after you know who.
  19. The wiki is wrong, official interviews/info dumps on various sites state she is an eothas worshiper. As I recall Gaun is just an aspect of Eothas, like the Pallid Knight is just an aspect of Berath. Also pretty sure she is savannah folk, not meadow. Look at the skin tone/hair color, not to mention the name, also didn't they flat state that when she was announced? Either way I find the funniest part is that Eder and Xoti apparently don't get along. Makes me think she will probably be a little on the zealot side of things. The 2nd fig update specifically says she's meadow folk/savannah folk.
  20. Well that, at it says so on her character introduction page on fig.
  21. They didn't "develop" it, but they certainly played a big part in its development. I know it was Fergus' idea for the game to be based on D&D, and a few other people in BI were looking over development and giving ideas.
