  1. I don't know, a party member going unconscious isn't a big deal in this game. I find I am resting when I run out of casts on my priest and mage mostly which seems pretty much as intended at this point. I haven't had to rest due to a "rest of die" scenario in 392 yet.
  2. All you hear for the most part is the PC voices which despite being more filled out still aren't "done". I am sure most of the audio work went into sound effects, background music, and the companions not the PC voice sets.
  3. Probably the AMD part. I have seen a lot of games recently come down the pipe not configured well for AMD and AMD not releasing driver updates to compensate.
  4. They got rid of DR and changed DT to just be DR which means there are no longer percentage reductions to damage only minuses to raw damage. So before plate may have given you -20% damage then another -12 on top of that now it just gives -12. Also sorry for double post
  5. Well having extensively played every build this one is the worst since v257, combat-wise for me. v333 was probably the best in that regard. The imbalance from the armor change and horrible performance just make it unplayable for me, so I won't be doing much combat testing this build, will mostly just be sticking to looking for bugs. What is your pc build Sensuki I know mine is like stupidly over the top but I am curious why you are seeing so many performance hits when only a couple other people have mentioned it.
  6. hmm thats weird I barely even notice it over the effects and such. Also just to chime in, yes, there are too many freaking beetles. With these numbers they should just march on Dyrford and take over the whole town. Hell I made a new save, went straight to crossing, and there are so many freaking beetles it only took 2 pulls to get 100% on stone and wood beetle bestiaries.
  7. I don't know, this build seems pretty good. UI is generally better, leveling up is vastly improved, I am not having any performance issues (but that proves nothing considering my pc specs), challenge is maybe ever so slightly harder than it should be, and there are still some weird bugs/balance issues. For the most part it is a step in the right direction though and a big improvement over the last couple builds.
  8. Windows 7 64 bit. If you alt tab out of version 392 everything appears normal. When you try to go back into the game however you will get an "oops" window to pop up saying the game has crashed. It says you can click a button to make the game shutdown or cancel however regardless of what you click on the oops window nothing happens and you are forced to go into task manager to force shutdown the game to get it to close. Happens every time I alt tab 100%. Did not have this issue on the last build.
  9. Not exactly a missing string but I found a grimoire in a loot pile just north of the wolves in Dyrford Crossing with the name *Missing items 1844*. It has the right graphic and it functions perfectly fine the name is just clearly wrong. Here is a pic.
  10. Yeap! Happy holidays, Merry Christmas, Happy Hannukah, etc etc to everyone out there on the Obsidian Forums! Best wishes to you all and your families for the coming days and the new year!
  11. I have to point out the irony here Osvir. You are using that picture as an example of where you think elves could go, saying "something like Elvaan from Final Fantasy XI"... I have to ask. You do know that picture is concept art by Yo****aka Amano specifically for Final Fantasy 1 and is a "Dark Elf" right? ..... Okay so now a guys name is a curse word ? You go word filter, you go
  12. Well you have to remember that before you also had original DR which was reducing your damage by a set percent to begin with. So now even though damage was universally lowered, original DR has also been removed. This means damage is not as high, but it is also not getting reduced as much as it was previously as well.
  13. D&D Elves aren't midgets they just aren't super tall. I think their average is like 5'8" - 5'10" area.
  14. Looks like you better ask for a refund Wafflebum! I am pissed too, they refuse to put it on Xbox One so I am cancelling as well! Like Silent Winter said.... yes. If it is a game you can buy on steam then you can download it on steam. If if you don't get a steam key and get a one time download you can "activate" it on steam and steam will still download and patch it for you because steam has it. Personally I don't see why people love steam so much. I will be more than happy with my GoG version.
  15. Personally it makes more sense this way and was a good change. There is no need to have two stats about "reducing damage". Damage Threshold (while I knew what it was and what it did) does also make just as much if not more sense when called Damage Reduction. If they lower the damage numbers overall corrently this will easily offset the loss of original DR, be easier to figure out for newbies, and simplify the combat process quite a bit.
  16. Your spelling might need work Ctn but it is very refreshing to see someone post about the positives of the game and why they enjoy it instead of just trying to dismantle it and talk about why it sucks. Kudo's to you!
  17. This thread still isn't dead? Anything of possible value to the devs has been said. If we keep bickering like a bunch of old ladies at a bingo parlor we are just going to chase devs away from the legitimate points in the thread cause they won't want to wade through a mountain of crap to find them. Let's move on to a new subject already.
  18. Can't believe it took so long to see this post and point. Actually it does matter. You can no longer "level past" choices. What I mean is the way the level up interface works is once you start your level up you are forced to make a choice, you can't choose to not assign a skill or talent. Also since the level gated skills don't work that way apparently unless you cheat your way to higher level it is clearly not intended for you to be able to level up then just buy higher level gated talents with low level skill earnings. What I am saying is that when you are leveling normally without jacking your character in the BB you can't choose level 5 skills (just example) until you actually initiate the "level 5" level up.
  19. Hard to say. If you tried to change weapons before the attack and the attack went off anyway it could be a bug. Possible the stone beetle also used some kind of ability or something that just gave it much higher deflection temporarily. In all honesty they need to fix weapon swaps like Sensuki said it is very buggy.
  20. Exactly. Just cut it down. Bob attacks Joe, Graze, 3 damage. That's all we need to see. If we want to see the cold hard (and probably too complicated for it's own good in Eternity) math we can just click on that line to see the details.
  21. I like your OP Sensuki, and you know I definitely think Engagement could be done better and agree with lots of what you are saying. That said I still think it is too late in the game for the devs to just outright remove it, as it seems like they designed it to be in game from the get go and planned a lot around it as a mechanic. Once the actual visual feedback improvements are in I think they should move to addressing these exploits you have brought up. Tons of it would be fixed simply by making it so the disengagement attack only happens when the engaged target actually "leaves" the engagement zone, and then putting in a "cooldown" so that once the disengagement attack happens the original engager can not reengage that target again for 3 seconds. Also yeah, we need some better AI targetting clauses than.... "Attack the guy who attacked you first until they are dead".
  22. The only problem there Sensuki is dumb ai is no better than engagement. If the enemy simply attacks the first target that hits them in melee how is it any different? It isn't. It just makes it easier for the player because now it doesn't matter if their initial deployment is crap and their mage gets engaged by someone else. The trade off of course is you can have more tactical movement once combat starts but I am not sure that alone is worth the effort since if you deploy smart from the get go you should be set for anything you need to do outright regardless. For engagement to be "good" it has to be improved though. I stand by my long ago earlier point and say that engagement is meant to simulate MMO style mob control, well if that is the point, and I feel it is, then you should not be giving everyone engagement. Take it away from all classes but fighters, barbarians, paladins, and monks. Assign all enemies that don't have a class a role and if that role isn't "tank" then that enemy doesn't get engagement either. I consider this just about a must have change to be honest for engagement to be decent. Second... aoe slows are nice and all but again the point of engagement is mob control. To force the enemy unit to stay put and or attack a specific person. So take away the attack on disengagement (enemies will never disengage anyway), and make engagement an outright movement lock. Once a unit is engaged they can not move out of melee with that unit unless the engagement ends for whatever reason. They are basically "stuck" until the engaging unit dies, engages someone else and drops engagement on the target, or the target uses a disengagement power. Truthfully this is actually almost how the system already works for the enemy AI. Also engagement should just have a set "range" and be melee only. Since there is no free attack involved anymore it doesn't matter what the range of the equipped weapon is. Lastly one other catch. If a unit is not engaged they should attack based on threat. Yeah another mmo term. In other words if they are not engaged and thus "locked down" they should attack whatever is doing the most damage to them. So if a guy who is not engaged and not really being attacked in melee is getting raped by your ranger with a bow he shouldn't just stand there and take it, they should turn and go for the ranger. With these changes I think engagement would work just fine.
  23. After finally playing the newest backer beta I have some feedback myself. It is pretty long so instead of just making a giant post I am going to put it in spoiler blocks for those who want to check it out.
  24. Well like the other guy said we could use a Junk tab like in wastland 2. Oh I definitely agree, you need to be able to sort the stash.
  25. I mostly concur with Sensuki (I am even the one that pointed out to him Medreth no longer dropped his armor), but I wouldn't mind if the enemies don't drop EVERYTHING. I just don't want some insanely retarded system like Torment where you would fight armies of dudes who never dropped anything, Merchants would yell about selling swords but not actually sell swords, and enemies could use all sorts of weapons against you (sometimes even brag about them) but never ever dropped their weapons. In the immersive counter defense there is always one other argument for enemies not always dropping all their gear. Stuff breaks. I mean, I did just stab a guy to death. Is it unreasonable to assume maybe his leather armor isn't worth salvaging? Or that a guys sword maybe broke during the fight?
