  1. Almost evrything sounds good. Love the look of portrait art direction. thumbs up to the artist! This is what i meant by almost. I cant pin point detail, not sure what or why, but this doesnt sit well with me. Moment I saw it. Just a silly feeling. I must have carried different idea or expectation how those forces work. For some reason being wiz and personally shape the magic felt like certain definition of wiz to me. Oh well, I guess Tauron will be exception to the rule Anyway, great update, carry on guys!
  2. I am looking forward to see some combat sequences. How and what tactics we can use, depending on the class.
  3. They might be optional to wear. Have few layers like clothing layer, next to "armor"...like they are doing in Kingdome come: Deliverance. I think people already mentioned it. There could be clothing layer, just eye candy like and armor layer. Edit : Not sure if I posted this before, I think I have in one of previous threads, but this article has been expanded with some extra armors http://io9.com/the-weirdest-and-fiercest-helmets-from-the-age-of-armor-510686611
  4. If anything, I have the following 'goals' by these two threads and polls: 1) To draw attention to the shared engine natures of the two games, by anyone (including devs, fans, backers, etc). 2) To avoid, by laying of a co-operative ground work between these two dev teams, the conflicts that occurred in IWD/BG days by a sort of prepatory "fair useage" agreement or something. Specifically to avoid the rendering 'illegal', banned, etc, of the use of one games asset's into another. Point #1 has succeeded. Even moreso when somebody says "Nobody cares." Can you grok the inherent contradiction in that statement? Point #2 remains to be seen, as it is more of an IP thing than an engine thing. If all it takes is both games being present on the mod-makers and mod-user's system, well then... All good! I am quite aware that this thread, poll and so on may be completely useless and unnecessary if there are no plans for restricting content or having non-compatible assets. :D In such a case, modders would be using those assets and absolutely no 'prep work' would be required by devs. However, IF the devs explicity state that they are forbidding the sharing of assets between titles, this thread is NOT useless because it can then draw interest to... Not doing that! Any official statements would help a lot. Lovely how you give yourself credit where no credit's due...yet at least. Optimistic of you. You go for it. Well devs could answer you. If you wanted an official statment, why not just contact Obsidian more directly, than like this? Than, upon nature of their answer make a thread and eventually poll.
  5. I am not against that they might work together in some way. Still, they are seasoned gamers and developers in this particular genre. Imo it is best left to them to decide lvl of interaction. I am not thinking of art as I would acually like to see 2 visually distinctive universes, but content writers brainstorming and helping eachother is ok, maybe they are already doing it unofficially as some of these people know eachother...and as such I find this thread usless. I hope you dont see this as "hostile" answer, becouse it is not meant as such. I belive this is "stupid" thread, becouse it really does not add anything positive in any way to any of the games while being developed. If in 10 years we see kickstarter campain, entitled going back to roots of unity games, than something somewhere went wrong again. Almost evrything you mentioned in the poll can be in some lvl obtained by community after game has been finished. Modding capabilities obviously is another matter and there has been already thread about what some players would like to see as moddable by community.
  6. This is painting of talented artist Susanne Helmigh, think is somewhat old, but still represents decent compromise betwean fantasy and what makes sense imo.
  7. Maybe someone already mentioned something similiar to this, but here it goes. Sometimes whn you clear dungeon or area, you take what you assume is of most value. Still, there is pretty much left aLot that can NOT be taken by ypur party. This is usually "junk" equipment left from enemies, but also interior in some places. I figured aLOT can be scavanged there, but game doesnt give you option. I mean there can be literally chest gold inlaid, or fancy equipment in heaps, paintings, urns and such interior stuff. To someone all this might be very valuable. So I wondered as part of having some extra income early ingame, you could hire scavenger groups, that for a fee from scavange and cleared site would pay you equipment. I know this would be helpful early in game, especially like in games like Skyrim and Fallout. On reply I always money cheat, becouse I just dont want to do these tedious runs all over again.
  8. I misunderstood this thread somewhat *awkward*. Yes I was more in realm of classic good as "anti.evil". Thanks for point that out before I continued more lol. Rewards for being good were mostly so obvious. If one even cant get reward in loot, system strokes your/characters ego. People want to play character that is hero of the present, or recognised for their deeds generations to come. I happened to watch documenatry about Judas evangely at the same time and came across thread title. Should have taken more thought into first post. I was cought in certain thought and was like how many would do good thing or sacrifice themself and be villified for it. Not Robin Hood villified. But Judas villified. But let me not derail from thread anymore
  9. Imo to simplify abit, a good character is of service to others. His/her conscience is main guide. They want to do the right thing. Minsc may be annoying but he is typical guy who "thinks" with his heart. (headwound obviously) Doesnt mean they will do always good. I would love some stories that backfire, whn they try do good or right thing and later have personal issues like good intentions gone horribly wrong. I think this will mess with players mind alot and is fun also. Will make you as player question your decisions more. You really want to do good thing, but you just might make it worse. Not all sitauations in game should be obvious...even whn something doesnt pay ingame that well, there is certain satisfaction doing the obviously good thing. My point, dont make it always obvious or so easy. Playing good character has been way too rewarding. I think more sacrifice is needed.
  10. They are among us...oh the horror! Kill abomination... KILL IT!
  11. To specify "Other" option : I hope they add tools for those who wish to add to the game or create their own content. If anyone remembers tutu mod, than you know what magic is and those fans who made it deserve luv. Shadowrun did really good and community is free to make their own content within the limitations of the game (until devs expand on it). Rest is up to talented people, fans who have stories to tell. So the biggest drawback is crappy dialog options or storytelling. Now I dont know how modding will work in PoE. Designing housing and such might not work as in shadowrun, whn most if not all areas are "handcrafted". I know that I would love wiz tower like Orthanac. I like those cliches hehe. It would be cool if players could modify or create quests and items and stuff.
  12. Nah, there is no such a thing as Chaos. Chaos is just a fancy, eerie word for Order that is beyond our comperhension, so we say Chaos
  13. Nah, not forgetting, acually I am counting on it. Apparantly PC will be able to choose godlike of certain aspect, and as Lephys said, its not like they appeared yeasterday. They have been part of world maybe as long there was a world. But to explain what i was thinking, lets say those feathers on a paladin lady Pallegina contain some magical essence and are worth a lot on blackmarket or horns from green lady satyr godlike? Maybe avarage Joe of PoE is just like avarage Joe of Earth. Minding his own buisness, enjoys simple pleasures in life, paying taxes to local noble and 'prays' that whatever greater powers exisist, ignores him. Having a dull and eventless life can be pretty satisfing. Than there is lets say a uber wealthy guy, having erection issues and hears that blood from godlike, earth aspected and certain potion can give him uber boner or at least functioning one. So he pays aLOT for that blood. To make it more interesting blood needs to be fresh for best effect. Does character like that really care about where that blood comes from? Hey maybe even better, why not just keep one earth aspected close by and drain it for blood whn need arises. (I wanted to write hair first, but blood makes bigger impact) Than there is death aspect. Your character comes over a party in morning hours, one of their members died just. Conviniently your char is there, giving bad vibe, instills chills in evruthing living. Maybe that dead person was a lover to party leader and in his/her grief he accuses you, that your very presence had to do something with it. Or let say necromancer needs more death aspected beings for his...death experiments. So necro makes bargain with death aspected entity that hides it's appereance and shags alot around making offspring it can collect for necromancer. Maybe last part is too much, but necromancer being interested in death aspected godlike might be plausable. I guess imagination is a limit. I am looking forward what devs have been cooking.
  14. That is very true, you are right...but fantasy worlds not only mirror our in pure estetical physical appereance. Like we compare cultures from PoE to different eras from our own and what implication that may have, so it plausable to assume the worst. Albino kids in some african countries are being killed, belived they are cursed, bring bad luck, their body parts are used in magical rituals, etc...some woman in hindu parts of india die evry year in isloation from exsaution and exposure to natural elements becouse menstrual cycle is considered unclean, touch from one may bring bad luck and even death. Just some examples, it is easy to google for more. That happens even TODAY...I think it is very plausable this might also be case in PoE world. I am aware it can be that those entities are accepted and considered as blessing no matter their aspect and in PoW world they enjoy certain priviliges that come with their heredity. I really dont have clue and it will be fun to explore the setting. Imo it is possible we can also assume the worst.
  15. Yes, thats it...instinctual force. A presence personified not just for our eyes but for our characters to feel, sense and that can be somehow reflected on stats and those will be dramatized in game. I asumed there would be certain traits, but I assumed subtle like that portrait of beautifull black lady, with hair appearing to be almost featherlike. But considering Obsidian choice to make these traits so visible, I would not wonder if there would be progon like witchhunts or even lesser cults worshiping living entity. I am looking forward what stories they are cooking for us.
  16. I have mix feelings about god like. Death aspected godlike are very much alien. No apparent eyes, makes human uncomfortable. I remeber reading an article about making of Riply Scott alien and according to them, team consulted phsycologist about what visually and instinctivly makes people uncomfortable, like you just find disturbing. Apparently it is a face with tiny tiiiny eyes or even better without eyes or eye sockets, yet not nesceserlly blind. Something in our genetic coding hates that and loves puppy eyes things. So that particular visual is for that effect maybe. I just thought that godlike or aspected would be more subtle visually. As for "vibe" they give is more in stats and dialog, than how we percive them...although whn I think about it now....onsidering human nature, both three looks have certain dread effect, but that character can be mother teresa, apparantly good but getting high on death. No not mother teresa, that was bad exempel. More like..well really good being, but hey it gives away certain very bad vibe. I dont know, I am confused by my own rant haha. It would be cool if lady dread was amazingly hot, beautifull human or orlan or aumaua, but her very presence gives ones chills so to speak. Becouse you sense her not with eyes, but soul and we could get that in dialogue. Does anyone understand what i am trying to convey here? Am I the only one that thinks like this?
  17. I am not really fan of godlike. Death aspected ones look alien, no eyes...psychological wise, it instinctivly makes humans uncomfortable...maybe that was intended, good one for that. I just wonder why death always has to have such bad, dreaded stigma. Okej for mortals, evryone fears "end", transition or whatever. But maybe aspect of death is not gloom on it plane of exsistance, only for mortals. I dont know...death is gloomy again.Than there is that satyr, horny thingie with flowers in head. Damn nature hipsters! I hoped god like visually had more subtle features, butmore like their aura, soul or whatever like that, would be some sort of give away. Something that would be experienced through dialog. Interior looks amazing as always.(would like that one oval room for my wiz tower topfloor) Druid werecat thingie is pretty, maybe bigger feet imo. Yeah, shaping up nice. You go guys-one love.
  18. http://nebezial.deviantart.com/art/ravine-alven-silverlake-194644862 just found this artists work. Imo it is great blend of "realistic" and fantasy. Instead of focus on uber thic armor and shoulderpads (like powerarmor or exo skeleton) He has focus on design and patterns, more ornament and pleasing to eye. Guy is Stjepan Sejic.
  19. Yes, in fantasy, such things are pretty much straight forward. There is little room for questioning "supernatural" ...it is present visually and can be exprienced by all most basic senses, there is little room for doubt and philosophy. It depends, what means important to you? One defines it by ones collective experience, perception of reality and such blah blah, yes? To feel important...hmmm sure, but that depends on context...whn I read your post most important in all universe, this type of attitude first came to my mind Maybe that says more about me than you haha. Hmm...maybe if ant knew how you viewed him, he might feel offended that you put so little value in his existance? hehe, maybe that ant feels very important! He can lift 20 times his own weight, has millions of siblings and has never ever had feelings of disconnection within his family/society. His purpose clear and valued from before hatching, his passing away will be noticed, someone else will take his place. Doesnt mean he wont be mourned or missed. As for bystander effect, that might be very alien and disturbing to an ant as well. Whn one of them is in danger, they are all in danger. Like cells in the body. They are aware, they are many but like one or form one larger entity. What some cells do whn others are in danger, they do assigned role to them. And thats for that kind of ant. If you think of an ant as oppressed creature slaving to feed Queen who keeps all enthralled within hivemind where her Will is absolute. Somewhere within confines of that drone's mind lies his own self locked away, yet apathic to do anything. Aware that IT IS at all times, yet cant do anything to break Queens will or something like that. Somewhere within lies promise of greater things, yet it was programmed as drone, it cant override its genetic code, its nature. It can think itself to what if I wasnt drone but a soldier or if I was a queen, etc. Persepctive or perception I guess. I dont know. One can build on tons of diff scenarios and take parallells from world if one is creative in such. Maybe we have to assume that humanity is meant to be "flawed" in certain way, at least for now. Or maybe it is gift that we just yet dont appreciate. Becouse it also kind of sucks, becouse to know we are "designed" or evolved in manner to know about more than we can do or have tools to accomplish. I think that idea is what has always fascinated me about sci-fi and fantasy really. We are 3D creatures with most of us apparantly day to day 2D mind set, living possibly in 9-10D reality, yet we sense up to 4D, if 4D is like time, which there seem to be discussion about. I have no idea really. So there is like no way for most of us simple mortals to like PICTURE how 5th demension work. You can say how it supposedly behaves at times based on some equations. But you cant PICTURE that really, becouse our brain just isnt wired that way yet. We cant really see it. Physicist can tell us how it is supposedly working. So lets say a godlike/demonic/fairy entitty is something betwean 5 and 10D. Paint me how according to those numbers it may look in it original form!? One cant, becouse we could at best see only up to 3D of it. So whatever we would be seeing is only part of it, not it. But for some fkup reason your mind just CANT PAINT IT! Becouse of that I think many 5D creatures are drawn in metaphorical sense, not what they are but becouse of what they instill in us. World of symbolism. Amazing isnt it. I have no idea what it even means. I liked that explanation about physics few posts above. I have no intelligent comprehension for how all the small details work to paint the bigger picture...it all sounds ughhh..umm..wow...but I can probably appreciate some of the bigger picture or practical application of that understanding. I have no clue why i am trying to communicate about something I dont fully understand, but here is guy who explains it hehe..awsome isnt it! :D
  20. Yeah, sure, have visually such armor but also the appropriate penalties for wearing it hihihi ... It would acually be cool if going to armorer and making such extraordinary comission.
  21. Those pics actually come mostly from Polish totalwar forum. As for the musketeers, Capaldi's costume does look bitching, and so does Porthos's sword (them schiavonnas, mhmm), but generaly, it's the same old "lether all the way" style of movies/tv. Come on, they have to break in rash like once a week. haha, I was thinking the same. while there has to be certain visual appeal and make characters look individualistic and unik, lately no matter what show, they kind of take it too far. The coolness factor drops evry now and than for practicality. watched through entire Vikings season 1 and it bothered me that series produced by history channel didnt acually stick more to historical referances. Some of those warriors from the show are veteran raiders and supposedly huskarls and their equipment is well...lacking. Even in migration period veterans had better armor. While some would abondon chain for leather and thus mobility. A man even than would rarly say no to such protection. I have yet to see nordic "signature" helmet and chainmail. I am not sure but they maybe want to show dane neighbours norway and swede as more isolated and unsofisticated. Defind by harsh land they live in. Now I think those movies from 50's and 60's are more historical authentic in visual appereance, exept i thought they looked way too "clean". Now we have faaar darker and grittier atmosphere, but cinematography is going from one end spectrum to another.
  22. You should share this on Totalwar center, someone needs to do mod better Scythian generals. Rome 2 needs some luv. As for more realistic armor and equping your character, what do you guys think about this http://www.pcgamer.com/2014/02/03/kingdom-come-deliverance-video-shows-character-customisation-kickstarter-raises-double-original-goal/?utm_source=fb&utm_medium=emp Would something like this work for PoE type game eventually?
