  1. I bought a really nice Orange Pekoe Earl Grey from a Chinese tea shop in Melbourne last year.
  2. My favourites are: Southern Sunrise (Fruit Tisane) Senscha Sensation Oolong (straight or flavored) Gen Mai Cha Bancha Rooibos Raspberry Vanilla Cinnamon Apple Chamomile and others I forget There's lots of good tea
  3. By the way there's two new portraits in here: #3 and #6
  4. 8 is fine. I'd hope that we get a Barbarian, Druid and Monk companion in the Expansion.
  5. Yes I did. Well there's 25 Combinations of Godlike based on the parent races and godlike types available on the wiki (there may be more), that's not counting ethnicity types, which if you include those there are 90 different combinations of Godlike.
  6. Why not? Godlike can be of any parent race and there's lots of subtypes. They seem to be the most obvious choice for a second companion other than human. I'm positive that Kana Rua is female. Her features look female. There's four males Eder, Orlan Cipher, Devil of Caroc and Aloth Four females Pallegina, Cadegund, Sagani, Kana Rua A Male human and female human and a male and female godlike too (if the Devil of Caroc is a godlike). Covers all bases.
  7. Leader. The only tank classes in the game are Fighter and Monk, I'm not sure if they've considered having two companions of each role.
  8. In the latest series of Sensuki's speculations, I will present what I speculate to be the final eight companions of the game. Three companions are already confirmed: Edér - Male Thyrtan (Human) Rogue Pallegina - Female Godlike (Hylea) Paladin confirmed by Josh Sawyer Unnamed - Hearth Orlan Cipher (Detective in the Dunryd Row) confirmed by Chris Avellone No other companions have been 100% confirmed but here are the five others that I think are in Cadegund - Female Human Priestess of Magran An in-game priest of her likeness was shown off in the Update 78 priest spell videos. She was also featured in the Update 70 Character Sheet mockup. Josh has talked a little bit about Cadegund - what melee weapon she uses and why she wears plate armor. Cadegund is a priestess of Magran which is the deity that has the largest following in the Dyrwood. She is a good medium through which to convey the history and perspective of The Saint's War from the perspective of one of Magran's followers (the ones who created the Godhammer bomb). I am not sure if there is a faction in the game associated with Readceras or Eothas (Knights of the Crucible?), but the worship of Magran is banned in Readceras. There is an interesting potential for conflict between her and another companion, and she also has a world agenda from which to build upon. Cadegund would also be a character that the player could meet early in the game, because her being at the Dyrford would make sense because the PE team built a Temple in the Dyrford, which is likely a Temple to Magran. Therefore I am 99% sure that Cadegund is in. Sagani - Sagani was featured in the Update 70 PE UI mockup (which I doubt contained misleading information). Josh has talked briefly about Sagani on these forums, and has stated that she will have an animal companion from her homeland. Chris Avellone also seems to really like Sagani's concept as well and has mentioned her in a few of his PE and Kickstarter presentations. There was also a recent post on Something Awful where someone said that Sagani is a good in-game representation of someone they know, and Josh thought that was a cool post. Sagani's concept is also just too cool to drop. Dwarf Rangers were not possible in 2E AD&D and almost never seen in 3E/3.5E, so it's a breath of fresh air. So yeah probably 95% sure Sagani is in. Aloth - We haven't heard a single word about Aloth since the Kickstarter, he was just a companion concept floated by Josh with no input from others. I must admit that the Aloth presented in the Kickstarter was among the more boring characters, but he does have the potential to be a 'nasty' sort of Elven Wizard, he doesn't look like a good-willed character. His name also appeared in the Update 70 PE UI mockup and he also has a new portrait that we haven't seen in full detail yet, looking more grim than before. He seems like a character that would have a perspective on animancy, and perhaps would be in favor of the darker area of animancy research. So I'm gonna go with around 70% sure Aloth is in. Kana Rua - Aumaua Chanter There must be a class in the game that represents the Aumaua and it makes sense for there being a Chanter companion because it is a 'new' class that is specific to the game. Her portrait was posted in Update 78. It was not confirmed that she was a companion, but she has a name and a portrait and being an Aumaua and a Chanter, her character archetype fits what is missing from the PE companion lineup. 80% Kana Rua is a companion. The Devil of Caroc - Unknown Fighter This name appeared as a companion in the Update 70 PE UI mockup. People were like "who's the Devil of Caroc" ? Josh Sawyer revealed that PE would have a Fighter companion in the Update 78 thread. It is possible that The Devil of Caroc is this Fighter Companion. The name sounds "Fighter-y". Could be another godlike due to having such a weird name. 60% The Devil of Caroc is PE's Fighter companion. ------ There may be more than 8 companions, but at this stage it looks like Forton has been dropped, or perhaps postponed for the Expansion or something. His character is kind of weird. The name doesn't really suit the place in the world where he is from as the language rules were developed after he was. A Human monk isn't the most interesting thing in the world either.
  9. A ghosted double of the character, it does not affect the character's actions
  10. It's possible that this is one of (if not the main) themes of the game.
  11. Regarding the zoom level, you can zoom in this close IIRC (click the picture).
  12. The free attack is a ghosted animation. I did read the quote, I just wanted some further clarification.
  13. This looks to be the monitor I'll get for Pillars of Eternity. ASUS PG278Q http://pcmonitors.info/asus/asus-pg278q-2560-x-1440-g-sync-monitor 27" 1440P 144Hz 8-bit TN panel.
  14. We already kinda know how dialogues in Eternity work Hormalakh, the design has been locked in and the game is now in post production. People will react to you based on some pre-determined things such as race, cultural background, items (such as Skein Steel), sex and sometimes class. I don't know if any of these will provoke hostility, maybe if you're a Wild Orlan or a Godlike ? Then there is your factional reputation - if you have done something in previous quests, encounters or dialogues that has lowered your factional reputation, then that probably increases the chance that someone belonging to a certain Faction (such as The Dyrford) will react more negatively to you and even attack you. And then there's your disposition, which people will react to as well. eg. "hey you're THAT GUY who thinks he's really funny, when I cut off your head I'll make it laugh for you!" The IE games have always had parts of conversations that can only be done once (unless you reload) - the parts that relate to quests. Informational stuff is usually repeatable. That stuff will be recorded in your journal. You won't be able to do #2 regarding quests. Apparently in this game all quests have multiple ways of completing it, so it won't really matter - because there's no XP difference or whatever. At least in people's first playthrough people will probably accept the consequences of their actions. People may after some saves/reloads or some googling metagame conversations to get specific rewards (items, rep bonuses etc). I have no opinion on #3. The devs aren't making character encyclopedias so I'm looking forward to the more "in person" dialogue that the game will have.
  15. Adam Brennecke is showing off new graphical features Hopefully we get to see some character blending and dynamic cloth!
  16. I have a few general mechanics questions for the devs regarding consistency between the IE titles and Pillars of Eternity Color coded names: How are character names color coded in Pillars of Eternity? The Baldur's Gate games used the major clothing color of a character for their name in dialogue window and combat log, whereas the Icewind Dales used a different format. Combat/ready stance: Characters in the Icewind Dale games lacked a "combat stance" between actions, which looked jarring. Will characters (and creatures) in Pillars of Eternity have a combat stance for the recovery time between actions (like the stance in Baldur's Gate after characters were moved)? Melee Engagement and Chasing: There was a discussion recently about how Melee Engagement works when chasing people down on the battlefield. My understanding is that the attacker has to be stationery (among other things) for melee engagement to qualify. What happens when a character with a fast movement speed catches a slower character and plays their attack animation? When does Melee Engagement trigger? If the unit moves out of range during the attack animation before the hit frame, is the attack cancelled or does it keep playing? Spell-casting animation: I noticed that Cadegund used a simple 'use' gesture when casting Priest spells in the recent videos, which probably stems from the fact that Wizards cast one handed due to holding a Grimoire and that animation has been ported across. Is 'school' color-coded casting FX combined with an IE-style casting animation planned for PE similar to the IE games or are you going for something different?
  17. Probably on Something Awful, the database is down at the moment however so I can't view the old thread. But yeah pretty sure there's a moon/ondra godlike
  18. Thankfully for developers, the average steam user isn't so enlightened
  19. Since this discussion has turned into a discussion about enemy AI - here is a glimpse at how enemy AI is designed for PE, which some of you may not have seen. This focuses mostly on determination of what action to do. One of the devs (Josh, Adam or Steve) said that good AI is predictable and deterministic.
