  1. On a side note: check out this awesome programming update by the Satellite Reign dev team http://satellitereign.com/dev-diary-07/ That would be freakin sweet if one of the PE guys (Steve, Adam etc) did something like that.
  2. I'm with you there, although I do remember a lot of the Inn names, particularly the BG1 ones. EA are, by definition tyrannical They were the most hated company in America in 2012 and 3rd in 2013.
  3. There are no women on the internet, particularly not RPG sites!
  4. Activision don't need a few million dollars from selling a license. The IP isn't worth much, so they're just gonna sit on it and make sure no one else gets to use it. That's what being a monopoly is all about.
  5. That's a great idea. Their party name could have been the "Goon Squad" and they would be world renown for only fighting on the side of reviled dictators and tyrants. In battle they would constantly fling insults as well and when one of them died they would say "I am suspending my belief!" Not quite a good joke, because in the real world, the Dictators and Tyrants would be EA, Activision Blizzard, Microsoft, Console companies etc - and the Codex would never support those. They were actually going to do an Adventuring Party at one stage, but they changed their mind because Inns are more "memorable" I think.
  6. They have no reason to sell it, as selling it is just putting money in their competitors hands.
  7. Despite the boob plate I still think BG1 has the best in-game character models of an isometric RPG. Great art style.
  8. Actually that question is about on par for RPS these days, all of their writers solely exist to jerk themselves off.
  9. To be fair though BG2's were pretty cool. I didn't have much of a problem with them, perhaps only the one after the Gaelan Bayle convo in Chapter 1.
  10. I reply to people I ignore some of the time if the discussion merits.
  11. This is a class update, Aumaua will probably be in upcoming weeks - looking forward to that one myself.
  12. That's understandable because they already have their own quests planned for relic items.
  13. The trend has been to post portraits with these updates, perhaps that's (one of) the reason(s) why it was delayed.
  14. Surprised about the lack of armor. The "please don't do a sword" warning looks like it worked.
  15. I did not contribute to the campaign, those that did are keeping tight lips about it. To be honest I would have preferred an Enemy Codexian Adventuring Party that would be the hardest fight in the game But they changed from that to an Inn.
  16. Recovery time is basically to simulate the pause between actions in the Infinity Engine games. Icewind Dale got rid of the fake attacks in the Baldur's Gate engine, but it also did not have the "ready" stance either. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=L2kTAZetEFU&list=PL0AB42C2A904B2FE2#t=163 A video example above: JES is very fond of unified mechanics and rules, so all actions will have an animation and recovery time. There are apparently immediate abilities, I assume they will have standard recovery time of 1 second to avoid ridiculous circumstances.
  17. One on the options menus (particularly the game options) would be sweet as well.
  18. One of the reasons I think we won't have a weapons update for a while is because that the weapon balance is probably still very loose. Damage ranges, and all that stuff will probably not be semi-stable until the beta. Recently Josh posted about Arquebuses being OP (with Ciphers anyway). If you are interested on learning about weapons, take a look at J.E. Sawyer's recent post history (last 6 months or so) as there's a lot of info about them in there. Assuming 0 DT, Dual wielding daggers will do the most damage out of any weapons, apparently. The wiki has some good charts containing most of the info http://pillarsofeternity.gamepedia.com/Weapon edit: Pikes currently have a reach bonus, pollaxes do not.
  19. There was a recent music update http://forums.obsidian.net/topic/66060-update-76-music-in-pillars-of-eternity/ But Sound Design is a very good one. I'd like to hear about that too.
  20. As far as I know these websites contributed Backer Inn's: RPGCodex NeoGAF (they have an Inn in Defiance Bay) GameBanshee? (did they hit their goal) I think RPGWatch did as well, and couple other communities I either forgot or didn't know about
  21. I have no doubt Obsidian has updates planned a few weeks in advance, with some other milestone topics down the line, but I thought I'd create a thread where the community can suggest topics, particularly for the "filler" updates. There's probably a lot of different stuff that could be an update topic or content in an update. We know that there will be a class update on "The Front Lines: Fighters and Barbarians" somewhere in the not too distant future (so keep that in mind, for people posting). A good example was suggested by Brandon Adler a couple of weeks ago in one of the threads - Adam Brennecke's struggle with creating a blending system that grounds the 3D characters in the 2D scene. Whenever/if ever that solution is found and completed that would be a cool topic to hear about, particularly if the various attempted solutions were all lined out as well. Also just a further reminder that there will be absolutely no updates on the main plot, or themes of the game. A couple of things I can think of off the top of my head: An Area Design Update: Where one of the Area Designers runs through their various responsibilities - sort of like a process update and then gives us a run down of how to populate an area or design a quest with fake information. Any info on scripting/etc would also be cool. This might actually be a bit late now that production is over though, so it would be like a post-update, heh. Another Production Update: I really enjoyed the first one, it would also be interesting to see what a producer has to deal with in post-production, such as liaising with the publisher, beta testing, press demos, contracting people to do Collector's Books, etc. Gilded Vale: I'd love to see a screeny or hear about Gilded Vale, which is apparently a location in the game (like Trademeet perhaps?). We've heard about the Dyrford, Defiance Bay, Od Nua, Twin Elms - haven't heard anything about here though, perhaps with good reason? Screenshot of the Orlan, Aumaua and Godlike avatars: Back in Update 61 and in a few screenies since (and in the Teaser) we only saw Human, Elven and Dwarven character models. We haven't seen anything from Obsdian's home grown races yet. Perhaps they are not all completely done yet as to qualify for Alpha perhaps they only needed one model in and the variants could be mechanically created. Character Creation: If the character creation process isn't final, or the art isn't final, it would be nice to have a look at. I read recently that CharGen will be more "noob friendly" and will be presenting literally one option at a time, but I hope that the presentation of the screen harkens back to BG/IWD ones - with the progress shown vertically down the left side. Also wouldn't mind hearing about what mechanical effects Cultural Backgrounds have. I'm sure others have more suggestions too.
  22. I wouldn't call myself an Elite Codexian, that would be an insult to Elite Codexians.
  23. There was no video in that post Gfted, you imbecile. Your attention to detail could use some sharpening before you completely embarrass yourself again as per this thread: http://forums.obsidian.net/topic/64949-can-i-even-handle-a-game-like-pe-any-longer-well-i-sure-hope-so/
