  1. There will be the companions plus this feature so whats the problem?
  2. While Oblivion isn't a PnP company, I can't see that as being a real obstacle. At the very least, Chris Avellone wrote for PnP games before getting into video games, and JE Sawyer has written a PnP system for Fallout. No, it's not an obstacle. But pen-and-paper games don't have large margins, so it's not likely to generate much profit. Depending on how well the game does, they'd might have more success licensing game-world fiction or a collectible card game. I'd like a card game personally
  3. Non-involving? As opposed to resting all the time is so involving? Anyways, who cares it's a game.
  4. It's great that he points out that cooldowns are just one tool that can be used to balance mechanics.
  5. I actually don't remember crafting in FO:NV at all, but it's been a long time. I do remember that it definitely wasn't mandatory or even that useful. Crafting is certainly useful in New Vegas. Is it mandatory? Not really, but cooking and hand loading were good.
  6. Well, unless you were a dwarf Noble, then just about every single NPC in Orzammar, including the main plot givers, changed their dialogues to reflect the fact that this is a homecoming. Oh, and unless you were a Human Noble, in which case, the entire Storming of the Royal Palace changed to reflect the fact that you were getting revenge. Or unless you were a Circle mage, then all the dialogue with Irving, Uldred, Gregoir, Cullen, Wynne etc. drastically changed to refect that homecoming, as well. Nope, you can't, in the spirit of honest debate, short-change this. DA:O has a billion flaws, but this isn't one of them. At least they should have more far reaching consequences and differing quests, etc. based on your origins.
  7. How about you use your brain and stop being irrational.
  8. I like it a lot. I see no reason that the logo has to invoke eternity, why not invoke "project" as well?
  9. I like the idea of number 3 especially.
  10. J Not as a villain, or evil alignment. Just stereotype. Snake magic, almost always is not something "good" people in fantasy stories will use. There are exceptions, just not that many. I guess that's true to an extent. Although, is associate it more with gypsies or some other outcast group.
  11. I don't think a warrior will have priest abilities if that's what you mean. As far as the armor goes, I'm sure there will be drawbacks.
  12. cipher or cypher (ˈsaɪfə) — n 1. a method of secret writing using substitution or transpositionof letters according to a key 2. a secret message 3. the key to a secret message
  13. Lol nice way to frame it, "those that aren't fond of deep writing and characters." Some people enjoy making their own parties from scratch while some enjoy fleshed out companions. Not only that but you can play the game once going through all the companion questlines, etc. then you can make your own custom party if you want to.
  14. Exactly. You think "elf" and you think "lives in forests, loves nature". If you hear "elf", and you are presented with something that doesn't match your preconceived idea of what an elf is, you can already declare that you have absolutely no interest in it because it deviates from what you were expecting. You subscribe to the platonic idea of the elf, and therefore if the name is attached to something that doesn't reflect the platonic idea of the elf, it is wrong. That's a common trend. It is exactly why BSN gets so many furious debates about what, exactly, the shape of an elf's ear should be. It is therefore reasonable that if a franchise was going to present you with something that doesn't fit your preconceived idea of an elf, if it doesn't want to alienate you it should not use that label. Then you might be able to judge what you saw on its merits, rather than being disappointed that it wasn't what an elf is supposed to be. So, people want different but when confronted with something different they'll be upset because it is different and thus not as easy to classify and label.
  15. One more thing to add to what I said or to add on to the OP. Different difficulties would change how much fatigue is lost or how much the strength of spells and abilities decreases as you use them with one difficulty making into something very much like the vancian system.
  16. How about just making it so that as you use magic or special abilities they become weaker along with cooldowns on some abilities. The way to bring your spells and abilities back to full strength would be resting or maybe rare potions that can restore your abilities for a short time.
  17. So it's impossible to do anything interesting with elves then? What about humans? Is all fiction boring because there are always humans? Should we get rid of humans in fantasy as well? I do agree that having some new races would be very welcome, but just the fact that there will be elves of some kind doesn't tell us much.
  18. Game of Thrones isn't high fantasy, so no. It's an entirely different genre of fantasy. Doesn't matter if it's a different genre of fantasy now does it?
  19. Ok when someone says "generic fantasy setting" I think of a kind of medieval setting but I also think of the kinds of plots that go with it, the basic King Arthur/chosen one plot. Even within that though it all depends on what you do with it.
